I love, love Rev. C.L. Franklin. When I lived in Chicago, we would go hear him everytime he would come over to Chicago to preach. The thing I like about him is that he knew how to preach the "pure Word", and not deviate from the Word. He was a "hooper", but he hooped the Word, and I could follow his teaching. Lay a foundation first, then "HOOP", amen?

He and a few Detroit ministers who didn't go to school paid a very educated minister colleague who was more scholar then preacher to tutor them on Saturday mornings. This accomplished two things: 1. It provided a way to help a friend earn money and 2. They benefited from the scholarship of a friend which made their preaching better. See the book "Singing in a Strange Land by Salvatore
