  • This is an awesome video. buy it asap!

  • £300 for a DVD. Or say a 50mm 1.4 / 85mm 1.8 The thing is - if you buy a lens, your shots may look different solely from the focal length perspective. Tough call. The mention of clubbing together to get these kind of DVDs (say a photography club) seems a decent call. It's an investment - You know what you're getting from kit, but instruction, less so - as in part what you get is from what you put in as well.

  • @surfsidet0m Hey Surfsidet0m, I agree that a lens does something immediately for you. But from experience, having say a shallow depth of field will never gain you a client while having awesome coaching skills will book you over and over. Goto the link above to read TONS of reviews. Scott Kelby and Zach Arias have both given great responses as well as students on a tight budget. You just gotta prioritize your career, maybe the lens does need to come first

  • I think that at the stage of looking at a high quality career changing instructional video course, then you're likely have the kit, or enough to use/hire/borrow. Then yes, this looks an amazing course - i'd imagine photographers could actually quantify improvements if they compared their before and after headshots! Looks like after watching the course you'll see/analyse headshots/headshot shoot situations in front of you at a different level :)

  • This adresses the exact reason that I have been afraid to move forward with my business. Because I felt like I had no idea how to coach people to make great photos.

  • I hate PayPal...

  • is it cheaper on VHS?

  • Can that DVD be purchased at Amazon ?

  • The DVD seems worthwhile but the pricing is off...The kind of the which aids in selling vs Piracy is that fact that people support a dvd so much that they are willing to pay even if they can get it for free. However at $300 that's a pretty tough sell even for people who want to support it.

  • @charlessaultersmedia Charles, I understand your concern but I don't think it's fair to ever say that piracy is justified because demand is high yet the cost is out of the reach of everyone. If you goto the 2nd link below the video trailer you can read reviews and see how amazing the response has been for this DVD. Dozens of people have actually said they would have paid more than $300 after watching the DVD. You must look at this as an investment in your business; it changed mine forever!

  • @FStoppers This is true.

  • Michelle Bauchman should have bought this dvd a few months ago....

  • "I have something that is worth sharing"...

    ...for 300 bucks a pop.

  • @Beerz76 Something like this is only worth something to you if it's worth something to you. Free advice, you'll ignore. Pay the $300, really take what he's got to say seriously and apply it, and you can make that back on a lazy Monday morning with plenty of change to spare. It's not about being a camera operator; you can learn that anywhere. It's about being a businessperson AND someone who can help other people to sell themselves. That's what the headshot game is all about.

  • So when is this coming to torrents?

  • @isashach those who want something for nothing end up with just the same.

  • What lens would you recommend for someone who is interested in going into headshot photography?

  • @liquidchayld Peter uses a 120mm Macro for medium format. For a similar look you probably want an 85 1.4 or maybe a 60mm/105mm macro depending on the min focusing distance. Peter's depth of field is super shallow

  • @phaskellhall Keep in mind that Peter's DoF is that shallow not so much because it's a signature style, but because he's shooting at a very low ISO under fluorescents (the Kino Flos) and needs a reasonably fast shutter speed to get sharp images of his subjects. He's also in very tight (tighter than most photographers will get) which is going to restrict DoF as well, and that intimacy is part of the package. On a crop-sensor DSLR, a 50/1.8 stopped down to about 2.8 will get the same perspective.

  • Can anyone say Apple Product Introduction Video!?!?!

  • Does it have a chapter on fanny packs?

  • I like what Peter says at 9:03 time mark.

  • I have always believed that philosophy. The photographer must coach the model because I shoot pageant girls and without coaching they all look the same. Beautiful but boring.

  • $300 seriously? MAYBE $50 or $75, but I'd be shocked if you sell 10 disks.

  • I dont take people pictures. Uninteresting

  • I thought I was watching an Apple advert.

  • @redtippmann I'll take that as a compliment :)

  • @phaskellhall It was well done (much better than anything I could do)! Thanks for letting us know about this!

  • For those worried about the price tag, if you have a few photography buddies why not chip together and buy it?

  • I must get it!

  • HOLY WQDASFASSDFASDf

  • Awesome, I like Peter Hurley (since you guys made the video "?v=TpKsuP0NlzI")

  • $300 dollars? damn.... it looks fantastic but i guess i'll have to skip it. Even though, thanks for taking the time to teach ;)

  • to expensive...

  • $300?!?!!? for a DVD

  • @jioboi This DVD was created for professionals and it is priceless information if you make money with photography. It's like college tuition for photographers. If you don't shoot for money then it would never be worth it. It would be like going to college to get a degree in biology and then getting a job at McDonalds. If you are already a scientist, paying $300 to learn from the top guy in your field is a no-brainer.

  • @rlmorrisphoto sounds nice, I'm a huge fan of your work, but though I want to learn from it, its a little too expensive for me, would you make a contest giving some away?

  • @jioboi you can opt for the weekend intensive version at $1500 :) Joking aside, it should change the way you shoot more than any seminar or lecture you've ever taken....I wish I only spent $300 on some of the stuff I've attended!

  • @phaskellhall Im a Big fan of your work, true... $300 is cheaper than the worth of all the lectures and seminars, but still though it is a tad bit steep for my pocket :D

  • @jioboi we created this DVD for the professional in mind. If you aren't already making a living with photography then this might be a bit over your head. If you are looking to take your business (and photos) to the next level this is an easy $300 investment. Peter is offering a $1500 2 day workshop and I've talked to people who have taken it and it's changed their lives (yeah people have said that). For beginners this will prob be over their heads; it took me months to absorb everything

  • @phaskellhall Thank you =)

  • @jioboi No shit!

  • Infomercials have made it to youtube

  • WANT!
