  • you didnt even say how you have it plugged in

  • merlosmusicofficial - in reply, you right click on the metronome and then choose say, a ONE BAR count-in. this gives you 4 clicks before the recording starts enough time to get ready!

  • how do i make that the "play button(ableton's)" start like 3 second after hitting space bar? when i hit the space bar it starts super fast. do you know what i mean? thank you man.

  • Is it possible to configure Live to start record automatically when i start playing? with having to press any key?

If yes, can anyone explain how please?

    Tks in advance.

  • CAN SOME EXPLAIN TO ME HOW TO DO THIS WITH A FENDER MUSTANG AMP!!

  • How can i add video device? anyone knows ?

  • How do I record high quality guitar on this software???

  • amazin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • When I attempt to arm the audio track... I get terrible feedback... any Idea why?

  • @EraOfBloodtv It sounds like you might have a setup where your input level is too high. Please contact tech support directly so that we can assist you with this: ableton.com/support/contact_technical_support

  • @EraOfBloodtv

This was happening to me as well.

Solution: I reduced the input volume on my interface (based on how high the gain was) to give the volume I want without getting feedback. Also, I get a slight delay in audio that was bothering me, so I turned the input all the way down, recorded my piece, then turned the input (on the interface) back up to listen to it. Helped a touch with "recording anxiety" as well. Good luck.

  • @EraOfBloodtv If your using a laptop and it has a mic, chances are you havent changed your input/output in audio preferences. I'm just speaking from my own experience.

  • @abletonlnc hey man i was wondering how you got the video on to the video

  • all i can get when i pull up an audio track is the left part that says guitar 1 mixer and speaker on. any clue how i can get my mic working in this program?

  • Comment removed

  • Hey, thanks! This video was super helpful. I've only got one question: I'm having a latency issue on my Ableton 8.1. Now I've found the area to change the latency buffer and such, but I was wondering if there was an easier way to do this than just trial and error until it's just right. Thanks!

  • is that guitar conected directly to an interface, or its coming from the amp thru mic, or something else?? my guitar sounds horrible conected directly to the fast track.

  • I can't find the arrangament wiew on my screen.....

  • I use a Line 6 UX1 audio interface and when I'm done recording it sounds too distorted. Any tips?

  • @Protcall Turn the distortion down?

  • @Jamsessionroom1337 lol i did that and nothing worked

  • @Protcall Try to see if you can use a different amp or yeah just go with tech support like Op says but if you torrented like i did it's a bad idea.

How long you been using the program? it's kind of confusing for me, iv'e been using it for about 1 day and the only thing i get confused in is how to add different tracks and edit them separately (not at the same time just switch back an forth)or is it better to get a sort peripheral ?

  • @Protcall turn the input volume down. distortion happens when the pre-amp volume is already too high. this causes over drive and makes the sound distorted. hope i helped.

  • @druxka I solved the problem. Thanks!

  • i have to trun up very much my speakrs to heard record, i don't know how to get a higher input frecuenc help please.

  • @diegodevilman please get in touch with tech support about this: ableton.com/support/contact_technical_support

  • Why do I get some "echo" effect while recording? It's qutie annoying~

  • @iXmoonsky100 yes! I want to know this too...

  • @iXmoonsky100 use headphones or mute your volume :)

  • Ok so my screen looks fuck all like this -_- much more complex than cubase, ima punch my mate in the face for telling me to get ableton :@

  • @lantyboy696 how does yours look different? you can press the tab key to switch between Session View and Arrangement View - maybe that's what was freaking you out? (it's also the two buttons at the top right corner that look like three horizontal and vertical lines)... Ableton's awesome and easy to use!

  • @theMINT400 I figured out how to get it to look like this, but still cant figure out how to get line6 vst into ableton so it works nice. Trust me this is way harder than cubase to use, and its more messy in apreance.

i took ableton back and got the new cubase6 A million miles better than this heap of crap

  • @lantyboy696 Ok fair enough. Cubase might be even better, I just didn't understand it. Ableton just makes more sense to me. To each his own, I suppose :) I want to give Logic a try sometime too.

  • @theMINT400 Alot of 'pro's' use pro-tools aswell i been wanting to try that but its a bit on the expesive side to justify for me. I have heard good things about logic aswell.

  • All of these programs are designed to make composing and recording music simple but at the cost of a steep learning curve :|

  • is it true ableton live records audio upon return rather than input? meaning you'll always have a bit of latency when recording in? curious

  • I have live lite 6 and there seems to be no input chooser panel. any ideas?

  • Hey, nice video..

Can you please please help me out. I have guitar rig 4 and ableton live 8. Can i somehow connect both? so that i can use effects from guitar rig.... help!

  • @mudithead Hey

you can search for the vst plugin folder on the browser, if you installed de vst on a custom folder, you need to point the vst defaul folder to it, then you should see it in your browser, then just ddrag and drop onto an audio track, arm the track, set the input, and voila

  • how can i record my guitar in a stereo track so i can hear it in both monitors instead of just my left monitor. is there a way to do this? every time that i record my guitar i can only hear it back in my left KRK : (

  • @Beardybird just remember to choose number 2 in the drop down menu ( 1:04 ), i hope it helps :)

  • @numabuma3000 Thanks mate

  • thanks a lot this helped me so much!

  • Anyone can Write link for this program???

  • hi i have a question. i have ableton live 8, and when i try to record into arrangment view like you did, it doesnt record anything, only when i record clips.

    any ideas?

  • okay, i have a huge problem, im new to ableton and i have most of it down. My problem is whenever i record anything with, say overdrive, or some massive effect, the playback is all messed up. The first bar or what have you is fine, but everything after that is terrible quality. I'm amusing it has something to do with my I/O buffer thing but i have no idea. really appreciate the help in advance.

  • Hello there, very good video, but 1 question, how do i record if i want to use a backingtrack and then wanna record my guitarplayin over the track?

  • I have latency problems in a fast pc how can I solve it?

  • @polacorp use an audio interface

  • that is SICK, i cannot tell you how many times i've wanted to dub over different guitar riff, too bad ableton is a bit pricey.

  • is it possible? and 1 track for each of my 8 microphones.

  • @chuyreal yeah its possible. you just have to set your inputs to each of the microphones and arm each track.

  • i want 2 know if its possible to record 8 different tracks of audio at the same time? i am a drummer and im thinking of getting ableton live 8. but i dnt want any of the drums prerecorded. i want my own

  • wtf i did everything right and im getting mad distortion on all my recordings no matter how low the volume is....its stopping me from recording some sick music some1 have any idea?

  • @Waywardelements i have a line in how do i pluge right into the sound card?

  • @slydogtechno

na mate you need an external sound card, it will connect to your PC via USB (most likely depending on what SC you buy), once you connect the external sound card install the drivers, inside the ableton live app you can specify the external card with ASIO driver :NOTE: don't enable the buffering but select in ableton settings "as audio in"... that helps to stop the hellish lag (for me it did anyways)... you need to spend some money on a decent sound card - using onboard = fail

  • @slydogtechno latency?

  • @laterdaaaze NVM i fixed it after hours of whatever and whatnots all i had to do was update my asio driver, route it through ableton and mess around with my audio interface hookups. im too happy right now and im writing mad tracks atm

  • hey what did you use to record your guitar into ableton live? was it like a line 6 ux2 or something?

  • Comment removed

  • nice prgram i more luck with it staying in time useing adobie 1.5 and if i could use guitar in fl studio it would be that over anythang easy ti use for loops

  • When performing this live, how would you move onto another 4 bars of composition for a chorus or a bridge section for instance? And have it be a full song form ABAB for example?

  • were do you connect your guitar?

  • @MRBLINKSKATER obviously in sound card

  • If the input device has distortion etc will that sound effect be recorded on the program

  • Is there any difference in sound quality from running two inputs in and using the '1/2 Input' setting as opposed to either '1' or '2' alone? Cheers.

  • @Plaswuff

    1/2 refers to stereo afaik

  • Quick question, I have my guitar plugged into a amp and my amp is plugged in to my computer when I arm my track, I get a extremely loud annoying feedback noise someone please help!!

  • @huliniswhoiam You should mic up the amp and record thru a mic. Sm57 / eS / alot of good options.

  • I must say that this program is really shitty. No good tutorials, no good explanations! I have been trying to get my Mustang connected for 4 weeks now and it's only getting worse. Where can I find useable information?

  • I am getting no sound? everything else works...Please help

  • just tried it and all i get is choppy broken sound. even with warp switched off.

  • thanks!

  • how did you get the drumming sound at the end of the track? do you download it, or you already made? if i could download it, could you send me a link? thanks :D

  • @XxStickGlobexX you can find loops anywhere. Reason has some very nice factory loops. (reason is a program btw)

  • I do all this but the latency is rediculously slow! Do I need a better PC? I am using a peice of shit

  • @Deanosius download asio4all

  • i cant figure out how to pick up a signal from my ux1. what input do i need to select or what am i doing wrong?

  • What equipment wud I need to play my guitar in Ableton 8, I've got a line 6 POD which has midi ports but I was wandering what cables, converters etc. I need to play my guitar into ableton. Or a list of the equipment you use. Cheers

  • @Thatsthebadger1

Did you ever find out lol

  • @montyladd No! er....you don't know do ya? lol

    como hago para grabar Estereo???

  • ROfl? you switched shirts during the middle? look at 1:46 and then at 2:39.

  • I've Got a problem. i have an impulse drum loop and all my audio tracks recorded. when i save when i try to play it it only plays the drums

  • This was really helpful thank you!

  • You rock dude...Should have told me to play the drums for you!!!! :).

  • how did u do to get it perfectly in sync? the 3 guitars? if I record my second guitar track it's never snychronised...

  • Not a bad song

  • are you recording with an interfase or are you using your pc's microphone?

  • Thanks for this man :D

    Really thanks :)

  • cool you got a tele too ableton looks much simpler or at least doesnt look as heavy as logic anyway what would you prefer logic or ableton?

  • having major trouble, when i play my guitar .. ableton plays it half a second later and i just get delay.. HOW CAN I STOP THIS

  • @xnominalx All daws have hardware buffers, sounds like yours is set high,,look around in the settings or playback options (not familiar with ableton) when u find something that says either 1024 or 512 then u have found it,just change it to 256 and your good,512 and 1024 is more for mixing and playback when u have alot of stuff going on and need alot of memory

  • Is there a way to program the metronone differently? I often play songs that will switch tempos and time signatures multiple times in a single song. This metronome would completely stop me from playing but i'd like to stay in perfect time if it's going to be a recording which I will loop over other tracks.

  • What's the easiest way to record yourself on a webcam or camera whilst recording guitar like you have. For example we can see you whilst your playing?

  • could I find an online user manual for the Ableton Live Line 6 version that comes with the Line 6 UX2 interface?

  • Explained nice and smooth :-) Thanks man.

  • bandjaming on audio preferences have the option to fixt you problem.

my question is, I fallow the steps on the video but the track looks like recording but without sound

    I forget some step?

  • @hidracorporation Make sure you have set the track you're recording into as an audio track and not a MIDI track. That might be your problem.

  • @E3tiger thanks but I find the problem it was a f.... cable!! XP

  • Hi i have a problem im trying to record but i have so much latency and not all the signal goes thorugh the midi and audio tracks are both giving off like a tremlo sort of effect if someone could help me i would be so gratful.

    Thanks

  • this is big!

  • Are there any versatile guitar tones you can use in ableton? I've just been dabbling with the basic clean tone.

  • very nice :)

i have ableton 7 and 8... what is the diferens???? I can,t find it...

  • i get a dam!!

    runtime error!!!

  • Helpful! How can you use guitar effects with Ableton? I tried a practice recording, but my playback didn't sound the same..Also, how do you get the recording to go to either right or left side? Mine both went to the same side, and pan would not fix it, it just muted the track....

  • Wow I really needed to get that figured out for a project. Thank you heaps!

  • No it works on pc too

  • is this only for mac?????????? please answer

  • No. Works on windows ;)

  • cool thanks ill try to find my copy of it then -D

  • i want to buy my husband something like this. How do i know what to get without him knowing?

  • Biggest problem is LATENCY! The frustrating thing is that you see all these vids from Ableton showing how simple etc but none acknowledge the latency problem. I mean this vid for example, he is able to record multiple tracks easily and perfectly in time which is definitely not true with the Abletone 7 that I have! Its misleading!

  • He is using Fire wire audio interface, thats the reason why he doesn't have LATENCY! Go and get one if you wanna record ;)

  • and your computer cant suck :P

  • it probably has about 5ms of latency ....which is basically nothing. You need further hardware to really get zero latency....but who needs that anyway :P

  • your interface is probably trash.

  • Nice tutorial! Theres a lot I don't know about live yet :P

  • Hey, do you know if I can upgrade my Ableton 7 to Ableton Live 8.1 Suite?

  • i got this ux2 do this have a EQ where u can EQ your sound? i cannot fine the eq any where? also do this ux2 have any effect bulit in like chors or flanger for u to add on later on.

  • same question as Zkrudriverz : good to record metal in??

  • ableton is awesome! good to record metal in?

  • I have a lot of troubs with the latency of the guitar input (I use an Edirol UA 25 ex interface) even when i change the input buffer size and output It still is 2.67 ms late, can someone help me??

  • I have the same problem. Been using abeton for a while now and this is a VERY frustrating issue that i've yet to find a solution for.

  • i like it its simple

  • Hang on a minute. WHY do you chose firewall over USB for your recording? Thanks.

  • firewire sound cards tend to have better latency, data transfer speeds, and can handle more tracks at once without freezing

  • what i do is, I first record the guitar with MEtronome, then when im done, I go back to the beginning of what Ive recorded.

then thats when u turn off the metronome. then record again with ur song playing. Im also new to Ableton. hope this helps.

  • does any 1 knw why when i record the metronome is recorded too.

  • ive been trying to get my headphones to be in real time while recording, and i cant seem to figure out how to do that. sorry im a noobee....

  • I'm not familliar with this program, because I just got it with my line 6 toneport, but I'm sure you can change the output configuration so that it does. I'll message you when I find out for sure.

  • огромное спасибо!!!!

оч просто и всё понятно сразу стало.

    чел. - ты молодец!!!

  • Hello, my name is Frank and i have Ableton 7. I was wondering how i could fix the latency in my recording. I have a fast PC (4 gb ram 2.3ghz) and know it has to be something with the settings. Any tips??

    Thanks frank

  • you should check ur drivers you should have asio drivers activated in abletlon

  • I have latency problems too dude ;-(

  • @djslipdisk @frankie1089 you need a soundcard with a low latency. i personally use toneports KB37 a midi keyboard and soundcard all in one

  • WAIT!!! U ended the video too quick!!

I wanted to see how to add drums!!!!

  • very nice

  • if you got abelton then you just double click a track.. then the bottom of your screen shoud have the track clicked displayed

You then need to click the "REV" buttom and there ya go!!! very simple

  • Hello

Can someone please help me with this? I need to know if there's any possibility to reverse a track (in order to produce Jimi Hendrix like solos)? I have Ableton 7.0.10. Thanks in advance

  • Yeah dude, double clip the audio clip, then make sure the Sample box is open, if not, click the little button near the left-hand bottom corner in between the 'L' and 'E' buttons.

Then, in the Sample box, find the 'Rev' buttun and click it.

That's the simplest way to reverse your audio.

In all honesty though, being a guitarist myself, I'ld get a multi-effects pedal to accomplish that effect more convincingly!

    Hope this helps though.

    Peace.

  • *click

    *I'd

    lol

  • yea i have latency problems as well...

  • hmmmm....

How do i record In ableton while im using Guitar rig 3????

    ??:/

    help!

  • How do you play perfectly in time with the metronome? My strumming is always out a fraction and with 2 guitar tracks it sounds messy. Is there a way to post edit the wave recordin so it plays exactly in sync? thanks

  • No technology for that just yet. At least not in real time. You can always quantize the audio in the Clip View after recording. Also check your latency settings in the prefs.

  • Comment removed

  • learn warping

  • @lukebates22

This is simply practice. When I start learning guitar, my teacher let me clap rhythms to the metronome and I had it to practice at home for hours, until it was perfect. A lack of practice in playing an instrument cannot be compensated by software. How will you ever play in a band when you cannot play to a metronome?

  • @lukebates22 You can always just practice....... and then get better....... just sayin.

  • @lukebates22 you might want to practice...

  • when i try hooking it up there's delay from when i play and when it records onto the program. do you have any suggestions on how to fix that?

  • Check your latency values. A lot depends on your audio interface as well. A good start is to set the buffer to 128-256. Try that. Also visit the ableton forum for more suggestions : )

  • you just relieved the most stress off my shoulders..thanks.. but one question..i recorded my guitar track but i cant hear it when i play it or when i try to play it back..why is this?

  • to the far right of the track where you arm it your probably on "send only" instead of "master" .

    that should fix your prob

  • Thank you so much for this!

Also if you want to connect your guitar into your computer buy a Line 6 toneport UX1.

  • how do you record the video at the same time?

  • How do you input your guitar into your cpu i hav e a guitarcable but it is too big for the inputs in the computer.

and how much cost live 7

  • how do you get it to record once you start playing.

  • What is better??

Ableton Live 7 or Cubase Sx 3?

  • is it posible to record independent audio ins, in their respective tracks? for example, record a guitar and bass live at the same time?

  • well done!

with a midi pedal assigned to rec is like a live looper ;)

  • COOL SONG

  • oh dear god tune your guitar!

  • hey are you using a usb mic to pick up the guitar??

  • Is there anyway somebody could give me the ableton live 7.0.2 password??? please help!

  • This isnt helping me....When i activate Loop, it gets stuck in a minipattern at the beginning and doesnt allow the clip to evolve....

    Need Help!
