i know some1 who became addicted 2 a drug hes such a different person than he was like a year ago he used 2 b one of my best friends now i would like 2 punch him in the face
You've been gone a long while :). It's interesting to look at the history of opiate pain medications. Morphine was supposed to be a non addictive form of opium, Heroin was supposed to be a non addictive form of Morphine...and so on and so on until we have the "Oxy" class of pain meds, again, supposed to be less addictive than their predecessors only to have we junkies find the way to derive the biggest buzz from them.
Ah, the Harrison Act. That, my friend, could fuel hours of conversation.
Yes, that was a horrible point in American history. In the books Laura said that she was scared but fascinated by her uncle George because Charles said that he went "wild" in the war. Then he played her trumpet and had a dance with her and she wasn't afraid anymore.
Oh so agreed, we know now how horrible it was, but it wasn't that uncommon in that day and age for anyone to be using. Nervous? Try morphine. Want to quit drinking? Try morphine. What was truly horrible was that the medical community didn't look at these soldiers as a group of unwilling addicts and realize how potentially dangerous this new wonder drug was, that realization didn't come until almost 50 years later when a HUGE cross section of society was already unknowingly hooked.
Your comments shows how much liberty Michael Landon took with the Little House TV program compared to LI Wilder's series of books. The "Just Say No," episodes of Little House corresponded perfectly with (did the earth move for ya) Nancy Reagan's campaign, not exactly historical accurate for the 1800's but wonderful for documenting the politics of the 1980's. The only victims of Nancy's war on drugs were the parents that got freaked out over crack instead of educating themselves about it.
in the hospital they give u it through an IV i mom got soem because she got 5 suregeries at once! that didn't give her much because i guess they don't want u 2 get addicted
They will also lower the dose the IV is administering over the days that you're admitted, girl, so that withdrawal will be minimal. When used properly morphine is an excellent pain medication, it's when you can't use it as directed that a person runs into problems.
Charles and Caroline Ingalls married in 1960 as the war was starting and as they were living so far in the Northern States at that time Charles did not go to war although his younger brother George did.
I do not think that the children did, but the adults probably did. When Harriet brought into a franchise, the man who owned it was a cook in the civil war and spoke of it as if it had been over for quite a while.
He was hanging around the wrong crowd aka The Morgan family back in the city. But, I never understood why he started using morphine. I am still puzzled by it too lovvaclamm101.
'The key is under the mat' BAD mistake there!!

I can't imagine what it must be like to marry a bitch like that. Why did Nells marry her? Not evan Quasi Moto was that hard up!

But in "Second Spring" Nels did just that and almost didn't come back!

That's awesome how Charles and Mr. Edwards became best friends. He's a VERY good, caring friend who's always there for Charles and his family!

Don't tell me he cut doctor baker's stash of Morphine with sugar. That is so mean, the people that need it, will be in pain now.
