  • Last of Us

  • So Last of Us is when that parasite goes into us.

But instead of doing what it does to ants.

It mutates into zombie like things.

  • Last of Us is going to be awesome

  • This is why we can't have nice things.

It would be the End of World as we know it. No more Skryim, MW3, BF3, Oh God no!!! WHY!!! YOU FUNGUS!!

But wait?!?! Could this happen to humans?

  • so basically, a mushroom that can brainwash you and disable you, and grows mushrooms out of you?

  • Thumbs up for Qi XL sending me here.

What a bizzare world we live in.

  • i wana touch it

  • Awesome!

  • This scares the hell out of me and that's really hard to do.

  • Where's the Brain Bleach?! I NEED IT! NOW!! This almost makes Pedobear preferable. Or Voldemort.

  • Ok. Should NOT have watched that. I'm never entering a forrest again.

  • @Zookeeper1983

And that's the plan...stay inside of a concrete jungle where you can be brainwashed!

  • @pujsi13 And that's the plan... stay outside and be the first to hatch a mushroom out of you're neck.

  • i think this is soo cool

  • Parasect!

  • ...Creepy...

  • holy fuck I want to take a shower or something

  • I've seen some of the scariest stuff on earth and shrugged it off. But this. This and spiders. EEEEEP! I'd kill myself before I had to get near either of those.

  • imagine the migrains

  • We are all doomed

  • We need to make this into a weapon.

  • DAMN NATURE!!! YOU SCARY!!!!!!

  • wow this is kinda gross. but reminds me of the film Splinters.

  • the background music is very nice in this vid

  • What happens if humans eat those fungis?

  • @diabolisaas humans do eat them... they are highly prized as a tonic (great for health).

  • thumbs up if your from BIOL1101 Flinders

  • Comment removed

  • thats a massive erection haha

  • i'm assuming direct control

  • @wo262 You just made my life a little bit brighter. Harbinger + my science class = best day ever

  • That may be one of the scariest things I've ever seen.

  • ='( awww poor ant T_T aww

  • OMG WTF!!

  • shit, cj shit!

  • that's true pimpin.cordyceps represent .

  • Me recuerda a resident evil IV

  • Better than the best SF movie!

  • It is a parasite that infects the body and controls the mind leading the infected to the food source the parasite needs to grow and then makes the infected kill it's self.

    DAMN nature you are SCARY!

  • 1 person missed the likes button.

  • @NYtassu or is too stupid and doesnt understand what it is about

  • Parasites have been in existance a million times longer than the human species. Just imagine how evolved that type of organism is...

  • That's livened up my revision a bit :|

  • Do you think this could happened to a human?

I thought that the ant was gonna have a shroom trip in the beginning..

  • Cordyceps, especially cordyceps sinensis, can be a useful medicinal herb as well (as on Cosinensis).

  • Zombi Ants!

  • That is. Fucked. Up.

People think nature's about bunnies and stuff; they don't see this kind of stuff. Christ, I'm still squrming.

  • Holy fuck, it's the Flood!

  • Man we need a movie about a fungi-mutant zombie epidemic.

  • If this shit ever mutates to affect humans, we would be so very fucked

  • Yeah we would be fucked but in a awesome kind of way.

  • It wouldn't be awesome when everyone died because of it. >.>

  • It sure is better than choking ourselves slowly to death with overpopulation

  • Luckily it only lives in jungles.

Now, if it mutated to affect humans, AND to survive in a variety of environments... we'd all be dead very quickly.

  • Welcome to the jungle, we'll devour your brains

  • @illegalusername plantinum royal premier proper... fucked... hahahha

  • @illegalusername haven't you played resident evil 4?? lol that isexactly what it will be like

  • @illegalusername like a zombie apocalypse :D

  • Fuck nature.

Screw eco-driving, I'm not doing it anymore. I'm gonna use the brakes every chance I GET!

  • this makes me think how this thing evolved.... just think about it, it almost seems impossible...the funghi had to have a long history coinciding with that insect, then somehow have to figure out it's nerve systems, how they worked, what they did, their composition. nature is frighteningly creative. also, if this happens to insects and not other animals, is it because of the complexity of the animal? or does it just need more time...?are insects more like machines? i have a lot of questions!!!

  • It's a ratchet. The fungus might've been mildly psychoactive already, and the ones that affected the ants in a positive way (even really slightly) were statistically more likely to proliferate, and so on. They end up getting better and better at it, REALLY slowly.

  • that really makes sense, considering psychotropic fauna like peyote or cannabis. i still find it astounding that a sophisticated creature can be in essence controlled to such an extent by a spore.....the so called lower life forms(insects, spores, invertebrates and so on) are the most beautiful, destructive, creative and astounding of all. mammals like us seem so boring compared to them...

  • Have you seen what mammals like us can do? We've built empires and controlled millions. We've fought diseases and are forging are way into the universe. We've utilized the elements, we've given birth to artists, scientists, revolutionaries.

Yep we're real boring. I wish we could somehow kill things in a cool mutated way. Then we'd be rocking.

  • in the words of doc emmet brown:"you're not thinking fourth dimensionally" what we've done is utilizing our environment to our advantage, in a sense making a sanctuary against uncompromising nature. this fungus is much more abstract by nature, it's its born talent what makes it pretty much unique.I understand mammals more, so that world seems so strange and amazing to me. and just because it doesn't paint a rembrandt doesn't make it stupid. we just have different specialities or talents.

  • @certise : "Yep we're real boring. I wish we could somehow kill things in a cool mutated way. Then we'd be rocking" dude...did u just wake up or what? ever heard of the swine flue? h1n1? nwo? OBAMA??!?! man, we are already 'rocking'

  • @sykoSpanKy

Hey smartass that post was said 3 months ago so why don't you keep up. And yeah swine flu is definitely not man kinds fault. Though maybe we've contributed to it's evolution it's a disease that we fight. A meaningless fight I might add. And by the way everything you've said is totally irrelevant to my whole post. What does Obama have to do with mutation and human evolution? I mean't that quote in a sarcastic way, So don't reply to my comments 3 months afetr with something stupid.

  • @certise: i didnt know you wrote it 3 months ago so my bad. human evolution is human evolution i never said THAT has anything to do with obama. obama has to do with the NWO witch is crazy evil shit. the swine flu WAS created by man, and the h1n1 is pure poison that mutates with the swine to make you even more sick, and eventually kill you. i simply stated that "killing things in a cool mutated way" is already taking place but theres nothing cool about it. its real as reality itself.

  • @sykoSpanKy

Well I was talking about human and social evolution so I don't know why you're talking about something so irrelevant. That's great and now you're just starting to sound like conspiracist. New World Order? Like really? You're bringing that up in a Parasitic Fungi video? H1N1 is a natural mutation of forms of previous human, swine, and avian flus.

  • you should do what a lot of people do and just say god created it and it didnt evolve, because thats CLEARLY how it came to be.

  • no, that is not my point at all. just because i can't understand it, doesn't mean it's some kind of higher power. i'm just being inquisitive. and i love evolution BECAUSE it's complex, and the thing a hate about religions is that it's the easy way out. I'd rather have the beautiful, complex, hard and uncompromising view of nature than the so called unconditional yet incapacitated love and power of god(except when it comes to punishing...).

  • really creepy

  • One of the most fascinating, horrifically eerie, and absurd, videos I've witnessed on YouTube.

  • woaaahhh creepppy! ahah

  • Love to try to cook some up.

  • Sensational!

  • Lets All hope it wont evolve into a state that can affect the humans.

  • well it would be better cuz we are over populating the planet :P thats why insects arent over populated

  • lets hope they do, or someone makes them to.

  • sounds like a movie script waiting to happen lol

  • Amazing!

  • Reminded me of Halo's Flood... creepy

  • Stuff like this makes my skin crawl.

  • Beautiful!

  • Watch this on dvd for just a moment ago, had to show it to my brother... scary :S

  • quite smart that the workers dump the one who is infected

  • Wow, works kind of like religion.

  • wow this is amazing...jeesh this is why i hate growing cities and lost lands...the lands of this beauty like the rainforest or your backyard will someday just be a new plantation for a buisness building

  • hear hear! I agree.

  • I am actually quite happy we're killing that off. Destroy it before it destroys us!

  • well yea i understand ur point but i just sayin that nature like that are in jeperdy

  • And soon they will be gone. What an age we live in.

  • They were here before us STUPID.

  • Your point is?

  • My point is that you go read some books about ants

  • Oh god! its like halos flood and Pikmins muchroom dudes! O MY GOD THEVE BECOME ONE!

  • Very gross indeed. Whats cool, though, is that the ants know to quaranteen the infected ant. Not bad for a creature with as small a brain as the ant!

  • Hey they've seen ants performing surgery on each other and some species know about agriculture as well. I bet if enough time was given ants could become a dominant species just as humans are.

  • that was the most retarded thing ive ever heard..

  • wow, imagine there was a species of cordyceps for humans...wait, there is...reported that some guys killed each other because they came back with the disease, then the other guy with them ate them, then he died...scary.

  • halo flood!!

  • i have read in RR once when i was little that there aw a documented case where the fungi used the host to walk around to find a better place for the spores

  • Oh my god.

That is one of the creepiest things I have ever seen.

  • You are now remembering the pokemon Paras and realizing what really happened when it evolved

  • I know! Freaky! >.>;

  • hooooly shit

  • Go buy the broken butterfly from the merchant. Don't shoot them in the head.

  • this is the nastiest thing ever. scary.

  • Yikes! This reminds me of that horror movie

The Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Glad it does not affect humans.

  • who says it won't

  • holy fuck dude

  • fav part of the movie.

  • also Cordyceps like Cordyceps sinensis are awesome sex boosters and helps have a healthy body weird right lol n the ant head growing the fungi just plain sucks

  • i have to write a report on parasitic fungi. This makes it interesting!

  • that infecting humans = Flood + Gravemind

  • or like a zombie-creating headcrab

  • You could say that ant had a bad trip!! =)

  • Caulder has nothing on this shit.

  • ...But his virus affected humans negatively...

    Good point, though. Lol...

  • shhh dont tell Bush about this...

Soon he will be throwing mushrooms to Iran or smt

  • ..... does anyone else feel sick?

  • This mushrooms its good stuff , lol

  • Wouldn't it be Cool if someone Weaponized it?..

  • i would be pretty afraid if it was used on humans

  • It would take a while though. In the meantime, it could be used on Livestock, Crops, or any other Vermin you'd want to get rid of..

  • that's seems like insect torture...my first thought watching it was of a horror movie though! I could totally see them coming up with a plot that involved it infecting humans!

  • kinda in the works

  • Check out Naussica of the Valley of the Wind, to get an idea of what could happen if fungi were to be weaponized on a grand scale.

  • Gasp! That's positively the most repulsive yet most fascinating thing I think I've ever seen. It would be scary as hell if it mutated to affect humans.

  • david attenburough

  • Sigourney Weaver narrates Planet Earth in the U.S. release. Personally I think this British dude is much better.

  • can that happen 2 u ?!??!??!?!?!?

  • Sort of. Google "toxoplasma" to see how our behavior might be affected by a parasite.

  • how come on tv theres a lady dictating the words?

  • some cordyceps are used as herbs

  • It would be scarier than ny Human movie ever made

  • Not restricted to the tropics, either. I found a dead carpenter ant clutching a twig in woods near Ellisville, MS, with a fungal branch growing out of its back. This fungus though had a slender stalk kind of spore-ball on its tip.

  • scary, reaminds me of resident evil..

  • Wow, this fungi really creeps you out when you think about it. I wonder if it can kill humans like that too...that'll make for a kickass horror movie, lol.

Anyway, if this kind of plot happened in the X-Files, can someone tell me which episode??

  • The X-Files episode is in season 2 and is called Firewalker.

  • yeah that was a good episode, didnt think fungus like that existed though until I saw this.. revolting...

  • messed up, i remember this happening to people in the xfiles :p

  • This is where users can interact and ask questions and leave feedback.

  • Do you know what this series of DVD's is called?

  • Planet Earth. Narrated by David Attenborough.
