@pennyf9 611 is considered a modern steam locomotive, 1950 built. At that time, railroads and railroad manufacturers who still were building steam were always looking for more efficient or more distinguishable designs to their products. 611 was the first J class (I think) to have her bell placed in front of her left cylinder. Tennessee Valley Railroad's 2-8-0 #610 also has her bell mounted the same way as N&W 611's.

Good to hear 611's bell ring once in while. I did ding the bell with my key chain when I was there over the summer.
