I am a fan of Branka's x3 days. Have not stop listening since. Its a thrill everytime I listen to this. She is incredible. This is coming from,up to now, someone who enjoyed rock and country music. This is just at a totally different level. Big fan. Thank you Branka Parlic.
@Jritten1 But seeing and hearing are two different things. ;) At least she's not playing with the tempo as so many other pianists who play this piece do. Which usually is a good thing and all, but not with Philip Glass.
@Violaelf I think that's a matter of taste... I've seen Glass himself perform live twice, and he plays with the tempo FAR MORE than any interpreters of Glass's music I've ever heard, so you can hardly say it's not appropriate.
There is no way to properly describe how I am feeling other than it is as if I am experiencing something from another perspective/dimension. An indescribable incredible feeling that overpowers my mind and body. (And no trolls I am not doing drugs) I am a typical 16 year old boy who enjoys football and plays in an alternative rock band, yet this music takes everything to a whole new level. If music like this was a part of everyones lives, the world will be SUCH a better place.
This piece is highly sporadic with its slight chord changes, all the while conforming to a beautiful pattern; it fits Frank Kafka's novel well, a story of a man who awakens as a bug and discovers the existential reality of our idolized notions of success, driven to conform to the paternalistic lifestyle image created by American society, all the while missing out on what is truly beautiful in life, the sporadic and unplanned moments that allow us to transcend the existential, the music in life.
Sometimes I wonder : what would I do without classical music?...it's one of the highest expressions of beauty. This music will never die...it has genuine essence. Thanks for keeping alive the spirit of this wonderful genre.
I saw that Branka's performance of Metamorphosis 1-5 is on an album, but it seems to be impossible to find. Does anyone know if there is a place that sells it digitally?

I'm trying to learn this piece, and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to work the pedals. I don't use the pedal at all when the left hand is playing alone (like in the intro) to make it a bit more staccato, but I'm not finding a good way to use the pedal once the right hand comes in (with the melody, not the low, low C octave it plays during the intro) Does any one have any advice? Thanks!
Generally in modern art, there are many questions created to the audience, many points they don't get either the work in question is a piece for the piano, or a movie or a painting,
thus raising the possibility of an artist , not really deserving it or having done something that is actually nothing, being loved from the critics for example or from a large audience.
i feel this pianist is like the nature of digital- loud or soft. all she appears to be able to do in her apparent 'interpretation' is really legato or fortissimo. which defeats the object of minimalism in my opinion

I just saw Philip Glass himself opening with this piece his concert at Asturies the other day.
He did a very very different (and much better) interpretation: less dynamics, less rubato and much more clarity.
