  • is this use for lady gaga's marry the night, at the begining?

  • La bellezza!

  • Nice dissonance/resolution at 0:39 and 0:45 - her sforzandos are just right.

  • i can play most of this song but i cant get the rhythm right at 2:22!!!!!!!!!! anyone got any tips

  • This is bliss.

  • I never knew ANN ROBINSON could play piano!!!!

  • do you have the score please??? murta27@hoymail.com tnxs

  • So inspiring to me !

  • I am a fan of Branka's x3 days. Have not stop listening since. Its a thrill everytime I listen to this. She is incredible. This is coming from,up to now, someone who enjoyed rock and country music. This is just at a totally different level. Big fan. Thank you Branka Parlic.

  • SHE HAD A LITTLE MISTAKE : 3:45 , if you can listen carefully, but it's ok....

    she's a great pianist

  • @HeidyOrtizR bei 3:45 höre ich keinen Fehler; meiner Meinung ist er bei 2:45; aber egal-- sie spielt ansonsten klasse

  • @HeidyOrtizR You mean 3:55...

  • wow she plays amazing!

  • I love this series.. All of the songs have the same flavour to them but are all still unique.

  • Thank you for sharing. Added to favourites with Love & Appreciation:)

  • Also see Eric Watson The Peacocks.

  • She plays well, but around 3:00 you can see even she's struggling to keep up.

  • @Jritten1 But seeing and hearing are two different things. ;) At least she's not playing with the tempo as so many other pianists who play this piece do. Which usually is a good thing and all, but not with Philip Glass.

  • @Violaelf I think that's a matter of taste... I've seen Glass himself perform live twice, and he plays with the tempo FAR MORE than any interpreters of Glass's music I've ever heard, so you can hardly say it's not appropriate.

  • There is no way to properly describe how I am feeling other than it is as if I am experiencing something from another perspective/dimension. An indescribable incredible feeling that overpowers my mind and body. (And no trolls I am not doing drugs) I am a typical 16 year old boy who enjoys football and plays in an alternative rock band, yet this music takes everything to a whole new level. If music like this was a part of everyones lives, the world will be SUCH a better place.

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a while. It makes me glad to be alive.

  • part 4 is my fav

  • Where can I too get the score for this?

  • This piece is highly sporadic with its slight chord changes, all the while conforming to a beautiful pattern; it fits Frank Kafka's novel well, a story of a man who awakens as a bug and discovers the existential reality of our idolized notions of success, driven to conform to the paternalistic lifestyle image created by American society, all the while missing out on what is truly beautiful in life, the sporadic and unplanned moments that allow us to transcend the existential, the music in life.

  • she has a very full sound on the piano....great player..

  • What a great selection you got here! Thanks for sharing, loved it :)

  • I could listen to this song forever...it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever listened...thanks for sharing this with us.

  • WOW!

    Look at her hands!

    She's like on Piano steroids!!!!!

  • Where can I get the score for this?

  • @titchymcmidget give me your emailadress and it will miraculously appear in your inbox.

  • Funny how many ways there are to play this.

  • nice. his music is very good

  • Sometimes I wonder : what would I do without classical music?...it's one of the highest expressions of beauty. This music will never die...it has genuine essence. Thanks for keeping alive the spirit of this wonderful genre.

  • Does anyone know if these pieces played by this woman can be found on any record?

  • @narsistiakka they can be found on "the essential Philip glass" you should find it on amazon or something (:

  • She is playing these pieces grater than grate. The emotion, the precisness, the cd-verions are so fading against this...

  • is it just me or does this song change key alot?

  • Beautiful, magnificent all i can say

  • Adoro está melodia *.*, Es sumamente confortable, me tranquiliza...

  • God this is beautiful, I haven't heard anything like this before. Hes a genius...

  • 3:00 this piece sounds sometimes like a chiliens music. Emiola is... 6/8 3/4 6/8... with the bass ...IV, V7, VI, VII, I....

Many times this kind of music is played on arp or guitar.

Perhaps in other folkor musics is posible hear the same, anyone know about this?

  • I saw that Branka's performance of Metamorphosis 1-5 is on an album, but it seems to be impossible to find. Does anyone know if there is a place that sells it digitally?

  • omg -.-

  • It's not funny.

  • Just saying your sense of humour is like a 5 years old! Congrats!

  • Why thank you kind sir...

  • @code2789 I don't find the news: are you sure?

  • I don't think so, last news update today said he is still alive, i hope so anyway :(

  • @code2789 obvious troll is obvious

  • brilliant!

  • branka parlic is outstanding pianist

  • Her muscles seem to be wanting to burst towards the end of every metamorphosis.Probably one of the most difficult solo piano pieces to play ever.I wish i could attend a performance by glass himself ! :)

  • and there was me thinking that this metamorphosis couldn't improve on the last! this is a beutiful piece of work

  • well that's the thing... metamorphosis means changes, so each develops in different ways

  • faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnntaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssttttttticccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc

  • I don't know why you got voted down. I believe it's because nobody took the time to see what you were saying. They saw a bunch of letters and thought were saying something offensive.

  • not to mention my other statement which was completely voted down...

  • Jeez, man. You said the two most heartfelt compliments I ever heard and nobody got it.

Welp, I agree. It's beautiful. Phil's definitely helped me out when I was depressed. Check out the piece "Japura River". That's another one that's just amazing.

  • japura river, raising the sail, opening, metamorphosis...their all bigbig friends of mine....guys, what could i do without you??

  • or maybe they were annoyed by how he said it not what

  • I have and allways will love this song. it is a magnificent peice of art. Not only is it that i adore classical piano, but this just sooths you.

  • Maybe the best metamorphosis. This music tears my soul.

  • This one is my favorite.

  • Moji iskreni,iz duse, komplimenti za vase izvodjenje ove lepe muzike.

I am happy that my born town Novi Sad have this possibility to have you like inhabitant.Congratulation on your play .

Also many thanks Tijana that make me info about this posibility.

  • Hvala Jackl333, na lepim recima.

    Branka Parlic

  • @BarnabasFolk92 You shouldn't post advertisements on YouTube videos. As you can see, they get marked as spams.

  • @MINORSECONDXXI :D are you really reflecting on a 2 or 3 years old comment of mine? :D you made me smile now

  • @BarnabasFolk92 Well, I try to answer all the comments I can that need answering. Their age does not matter.

  • I actually liked the note she messed up on the first arpeggio that I play it all the time now because I like the sound of it! Aha.

  • I just saw Philip Glass himself opening with this piece his concert at Asturies the other day.

He did a very very different (and much better) interpretation: less dynamics, less rubato and much more clarity.

P.D.: Branka... don't fear the first arpeggio. You were anticipating it and that's why "it" happened.

  • che emozione!

  • WONDERFUL !!!!!!

  • This lady plays incredibly well. It's precise and at the same time expressive, full of emotion. Thanks very much for posting the whole series. This is eternal music.

  • @henriqueschucman haha not as good as Glass himself though

  • @henriqueschucman Her name is Branka Parlic.

  • I recently saw a documentary of Philip Glass on pbs, it was extremely good! You all should seriously watch it some time.

  • phil is getting soft in his old age.

i enjoy his newer music. but this

has nothing on einstein on the beach or music in twelve parts

  • He's still "got it". Saw him in Lawrence, Kansas, this week. Great stuff, but yeah, I think his age is catching up to him.

  • as it does to us all

  • This is beautiful. Truly, good music in all regards.

  • This is the piece that changed my mind on PG. I used to really dilike his work, but she plays with such passion and the chords are so beautiful - I'm a convert!

  • Yes, water air wind and fire very nice!

  • @tradogg3 What does this music have to with water, air, wind and fire?

  • she missed a note....... I'm just kidding! hahaha WOW! This is SO awesome! THanks so much for sharing this with us!

  • WOW! An absolutely stunning interpretation of Glass's Metamorphosis.

  • @JAZZMAESTR0 Your comment is an advertisement. You are not allowed to post advertisements on YouTube videos.

  • I think she's the best interpretor of philipp glass's piano pieces she plays it so clearly and perfectly this could go on forever thanks for posting

  • creo q si escuchara todas las metamorphosis de glass juntas me cagaría de embole a pesar de que son geniales todas. Creo que juntas cobran sentido, pero al mismo tiempo no funcionan para mi...a la tercera ya deseas que termine.

  • if u cant say something good dont say it...let others appreciate a true music...this is just great....loving...

  • nossa tira o folego!

  • I can't stop listening to this over & over....its the ultimate passion and is as water to me...i thirst inside & am quenched but drink again and again for the pleasure and substance it brings me*

  • ...whoa.

  • @confutatis747 A piece of music is not a living organism, and therefore cannot be homosexual, or by any means sexual.

If you wish to continue trolling, don't do so on a video of a fine art performance.

  • 3:23 / 5:37

  • If you're not happy, don't listen. You're nothing more than a pretentious git. I don't need to read crass comments about music I choose to listen to inasmuch as you do not either. Unless, of course, you're willing to give me an intelligent reason, without attacking my taste, why you dislike Glass? If so, say it and then back off.

  • wow. I can say that this IS some of the most beautiful & amazing music that exists on this planet....your remark is shocking and sad...i honestly cannot see how you can make such a statement. Glass touch's my very soul & there is no words worthy of honoring just how very unique & beautiful this music is u_u

  • Just brilliant makes the hairs on my arms stand up. This is my favourite metamorphosis. Glass' own recording is much better but he did write it

  • wow, such power... it`s as if I`m being cast off a wave! It`s hard to describe, but it has such an impact on both mind and heart(sounds clichè, ):)

  • I like how she goes low then high. XD

  • Pretty good, not the best version I've heard, but still lovely

  • ive totally fallen in love with this piece :O ! it sounds better slightly slower though... im trying to figure it out

  • need the sheet music?

    pm me

  • you can just get the midi file of the internet that will show you all the notes in programs like acid or cubace thats how i lern all philips music by doing it this way i can now play 1 2 3 and learning this one now

  • Please send me the sheet music! Ally x

  • support glass...buy the solo book. It's only 30 bucks and more than worth it.

I read Kafka after listening to this music and it is spectacular how many emotions phil can evoke with such simplicity.

  • you can just get the midi file of the internet that will show you all the notes in programs like acid or cubace thats how i lern all philips music by doing it this way i can now play 1 2 3 and learning this one now

  • I'm trying to learn this piece, and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to work the pedals. I don't use the pedal at all when the left hand is playing alone (like in the intro) to make it a bit more staccato, but I'm not finding a good way to use the pedal once the right hand comes in (with the melody, not the low, low C octave it plays during the intro) Does any one have any advice? Thanks!

  • @bobbybambino28 Use the pedal when it's indicated in the score. If it isn't, don't use any pedal at all.

  • Hell no she plays with awesome dynamics. Hear her live and I'm sure you'll change your minds. Great pianist imo.

  • i mean the rest of you, lol not connomatic, damn small screen, can only read a few lines at a time

  • possibly because it's been put through a compressor,

i love this music it's great

id like to see you do better connomatic11, if you dont like it fine, but shes only playing whats written

  • Generally in modern art, there are many questions created to the audience, many points they don't get either the work in question is a piece for the piano, or a movie or a painting,

thus raising the possibility of an artist , not really deserving it or having done something that is actually nothing, being loved from the critics for example or from a large audience.

some points anyone else can see? :P

  • I agree that she doesn't seem to be able to find any dynamic between piano and fortissimo.

  • You're right.

  • i feel this pianist is like the nature of digital- loud or soft. all she appears to be able to do in her apparent 'interpretation' is really legato or fortissimo. which defeats the object of minimalism in my opinion

  • I think the piano does not sound very good either...

  • could be the recording or youtube's embedded player

  • You jerk. You do not understand how hard and how much effort people put into writing their music for not only the money, but for the enjoyment of others. You have to learn to think befor you say something that could really hurt someone badly. I would know. I am also a composer. I don't have anything published though, but yes I do have 18 pieces that I have written all on my own.

  • Wasn't it the great composer Robert Schumann who said that we would be doing music a disservice if we only praised the good without criticising the bad? This woman plays this piece without any feel - listen to Glass' own recording of this and you'll see what I mean. Too fast as well, and poor dynamics that have nothing to do with a compressor or with youtube.

  • @nathanfornash Why critisise the bad? You can do it constructively, but if you think a piece is worth nothing, don't listen to it, and if it IS actually worth nothing, why does it have 561 thumbs up?

  • the old ACHT VARIATIONEN. Glass is so much.

  • 4 and 5 are the best. though 5 is similar to 1.

  • not really. in the part where the right and left hand playing the same accords there is one more accord in the 5. And in the end one part isnt looped 3 times like in the first^^.

  • She is brilliant! I only would like to see her get on the road more....

  • wow

  • Holy crap this is my favourite so far.

  • "Metamorphosis 4" sounds really minimalistic to me. And romantic as well. It's a very beautiful and suggestive piece of music. I have heard Philip Glass play this piece and I think Branka Parlic is a good interpreter.

  • come on, glass. things cant have been that bad!

  • i was looking for the number 8 one and no one has it on yet i seen it on classical channel and it was excellant!

  • who created the joke then?

  • who says we try have sex with branka xxxxx

  • you' maked me laugh! nice one, ya perv!:)

  • lol well not reilly i just typed it

  • Excellent if different Glass interpretation.

  • Amazing.

  • Thats what I call good music.

  • The dynamics are great in this one. She really does Glass justice.

  • It seems like it. Wow. These performances are amazing! What a way to set the mood. I always loved Philip Glass but wow. Wow.

  • is it my idea or in every metamorphosis the scale is lower?
