  • if you like this type of shit jeffreysonrs is anothere good channel

  • if you want to I'm actually needing a pro! 3d pixel artist because me and my friends are talking about making a game someday maybe we can find out something if you are on.

    My twitter is: CariganGTS

Our group is called "GTS" (GamerTagStudios)

    Hope see you later:)

  • did anyone else think metal gear on the third model

  • Great reel. Nice variety of characters. I would start showing more low poly work. Modeling in low poly is a strong edge. -Red Panda Studios

  • stick to organic modeling. That is your strong point :)

  • Truly amazing work, you inspire me to jump back into my 3D modeling saddle and step my work up. I need to post some new stuff so my old garbage goes. ROCKON.

  • @kazekagereckzilla hahahaha this is my old junk

  • @xiro79 Ha ha ha ha ha, you are a whole other league man, lol. I really need to get help on my character modeling to make sure I can be as good as your "old junk" lol. ROCK ON.

  • @kazekagereckzilla to be fare I am a professional 3D artist. you can check out some of my other work at kahlilreedy(dot)com

  • @xiro79 Cool really nice stuff. Do you work in the industry then, Since you're a pro?

  • @kazekagereckzilla yep I work for a game developer called 5th Cell. I am working on a project called hybrid for xbox 360

  • @xiro79 Wow that's awesome, I'm interested in getting into the gaming industry myself. I'm going to college at the art institute. So, I guess I was wondering what's it like working in the industry?

  • @kazekagereckzilla Well at the end of the day its a job. You will end up doing stuff you find boring at times but its usually quit rewarding and satisfying. Some developers are known for crunch too which is bad. Game development is defiantly a great and growing industry to work in. Don't get me wrong I love what I do and couldn't be happier i just don't want to tell people its the greatest thing ever and super fun party all the time. I think for creative people the game industry is the best.

  • @xiro79 Sounds fun. I don't mean to be a bother, but do you have any reel tips for someone going into the gaming industry?

  • @kazekagereckzilla Well i can only give the usual advice. Like practice practice practice. Get a good foundation in the arts i.e. drawing, color theory, design. I personly went to a fine art school and tought myself the Maya, XSI, Zbrush, mudbox etc. The internet has some great resources. gamecareerguide(dot)com, digitaltutors(dot)com.

the list goes on and on check out the Links section of my website for more great sites. kahlilreedy(dot)com

  • @xiro79 Thanks, it's all info that we all need to follow, well, I hope I can be better than you some day, lol. I gotta keep my goals high you know, :). ROCKON

  • Even by today's standards, I find your reel to be very inspiring!

  • :42 swimming 3D texture

  • Just a note: Gamers, just because you play video games, and know what a "poly" is, does not mean you know anything about the production requirements of asset creation.

The first mesh is high-res, true, but I guess you didn't even see the detail on the character. He is a MODELLER, and all it is is him merely showing off the fact that he can model organic, high res detail. Which requires a high amount of polys. Normally detail like that is used with bump/displacement maps. Or Zbrush normal maps.

  • i might JUST be able too make the platforms they're standing on :P

    great job :D

  • I love Orbital! Your models rock too.

  • How many polys was that first character?

  • first one is totally an elite from Halo >_> with bladey bones.

  • @xiro79 - Hey, I wasn't insulting anyone, I thought this was great, as I said "great video, talented designer." I have no doubt you are a professional, and if this was 4 years ago (iphone doesn't show how old videos are), I would love to see something you've been working on lately.

  • on the last model it should have looked more like a fight, not like their holding hands lol. really awsome

  • @OneManBand126 Yeah when i look back at it now it does look like they are dancing. maybe they made up.lol

  • Great video, talented designer.

@GamerBoy470 - Just so you know character design is seen as the pinnacle of 3d design, for the best of the best. For every character in a game there are thousands more boxes, barrels, and chairs that need to be made, if you are wanting to get there you will need to start with those, no one new jumps straight into character design. Also Maya and zbrush do similar things, I find it easier to model the basic shape (or the armature) in Maya, then import into zbrush

  • @flyhigh54 I dont know about pinnacle. I'll let it slide cause your from Canada. If you notice this was posted 4 years ago and i have been a professional in the game industry for 4 years now. That reel is actually what got me into the industry but dosen't showcase my latest work. Let me know when your crappy for year old reel has 128,000 hits

  • I say these are pretty juvenal!

  • @xiro79 dude fuckin epic, one of the nicest models I have ever seen (and I've seen alot by searching for at least one good character building tutorial :p)

  • This is Yantram BPO Service Pvt.Ltd providing all types of 3D Modeling animation services like Animations studio,3d modeling animation,3D Panoramic view,3D Photomontage,Architectural Animation.3D Modeling animation software refers to programs used to make computer generated.

  • its good but i dont think u made a good choice on textures. They hide some detail

  • I like the awsome one.

  • NICE. I wish I could do that. Greets from Germany

  • sculptris (its like Zbrush). meshlab is for making Low poly meshes. Gimp is like photoshop. Xnormal is an awesome app that will help make normal and ambient occlusion maps. Thats really all you need to make anything. Blender is a great modeling program.

  • could you send me a link to smoe good free programs except blender i got that one

  • u are my god º-º

  • beautiful!

  • dude this stuff is really high poly for you organic characters if you want to get into the gaming industry bring down the poly count really use reference.

  • @michaelmilette Im the gaming industry i work at 5th Cell in seattle. its a 3d modeling reel not a game art reel and this reel is over four years old now. check out my website kahlilreedy (dot) com

  • @xiro79 The polycount is just fine, I'd say. Modern GPUs can handle e lot more complex meshes with ease. We aren't talking about GeForce 2's anymore :D

    Great Job =]

  • @michaelmilette its not that bad of a poly count. for high poly character models on the ps3 you can expect a budget of around 15 thousand polys, then with you displacement and normal maps you can go much higher.

  • @michaelmilette whats bad with high poly? just makes shit cooler and more detailed

  • @undercoverpivotdudes and makes animator's computers crash lolz :P

  • @feugpo yeah,i knowz now :D also takes the fuck of a computer to run a game with high poly chars. but i didnt know much at the time of that comment :)

  • Xiro looks incredible

  • I have used Max in my life but i prefere Maya. I work as an Environment artist for 5th Cell and i use Maya on a daily basis. There is what is known as the "big three" Maya, Max, and XSI. They all do pretty much the same thing. it just comes down to what interface and workflow you like. If you learn one you can switch and use any of the apps.

  • Look ate the PolyCount O_o

  • you are so epically epic, you must be related to old spice guy and chuck norris

  • what the name of the program you use??

  • @evolution961 I use several programs. mainly i use Maya, zbrush and photoshop. I also work with XSI, and mudbox. some other tools i use are xnormal, crazy bump and headus UV layout.

  • @xiro79 you don't use Max at all??

  • @xiro79 Hey, I have litraly just started. I thaught "I would love to design Characters of my choice" and so I searched in Youtube "Character modeling software" and it came up with Demo Reels, Reels lead to Maya, then I watched this. Then I heard about Zbrush. Do you have to use both to create one final character or do you choose one your conftorble with? If so which one do you think I should learn with?! (I know it will take time I have the patience.)

  • awwwwww there dancing

    also very very good.

  • awesome models, however I think the colors don't match the quality of your modeling skills..

  • Hello please respond. Im curently looking for a college for graphic design. 3D modleing, textures, animation. And i was wondering where you went or how u learned to become better at what u do. And what would i start looking for in a college. Love the modles Btw.

  • @bio0link well I just went to fine art school and taught myself the programs. I would recommend Art Center, Pratt, Gnomon school. are just a few really its better to just get good at anatomy, perspective, proportions, and color theory. There are lots on online resources to help you too. Gameartisans, Polycount, CGhub, CGsculpt just google away. I know its cliche but practice practice practice.

  • @xiro79 shame about the flickering final gather! this can be fixed easily by creating a point dump!

  • @bio0link There is a school in Sweden called "Digital Production" where you learn how to animate, use Maya and Photoshop etc. :)

  • @bio0link escape studios , London or New York.

    very good.

  • @bio0link I tought myself as well... But i go to a college for game art and design Art institute..... there are a few different good ones thought.

  • those were wonderful works :)

  • very creative indeed, maybe you could teach us

  • @lucixlr8 there are tons of online resources to learn 3d. Gameartisans, 3dtotal, polycount, the Area, racer445. and dont forget youtube if there is anything you wanna learn just search for it.

  • Xiros coolest

  • imm gettinng into the gaming industury an id love stuff like this.......to all who like this field,u can recomend other sites and videos feel free.this is a fine demonstration of craftsmanship...id love to see this in a videogame or movie...excellent work

  • so what did you use or what do u think he or she made it with.... Rhino 4.0?

  • how long does it take you to create those characters?

  • @13RevengeIsSweet around 2 weeks per model 80 hours I made these a long time ago now and don't remember exactly.

  • @xiro79 now i see why Jagex doesnt ant better graphics for rs XD

  • waw man thats amaising :O i start to lurn this year 3D graphics

  • your textures are really dark n blow out the detail in the models

  • awesome

  • your 3rd model looks like an eldar character

  • Did you ever play Chromehounds?

  • The modeling is really great but you have to develope your skills in texturing and lighting. Best wishes

  • @ekko this is 3 years ago im pretty sure he got everythin down by now seeing that hes working in the industry,

  • Comment removed

  • give me tutorail plzzz slow tutorail

  • those character models were sooooo sick, but that was one lame fight posture at the end. you could've had one jump kicking the other or something, but it kinda looked like they were playing ring-around-the-rosy lol. great stuff though

  • 1:28 Pure Romance...... xD

  • veryveryvery cooolll

  • Did you texture them in zbrush aswell?

  • @525Leomas texture is a little vague I used zbrush for the normal map, and photoshop for the diffuse/color, and spec maps

  • @xiro79 O i see, ye srry i should have been a little more specific, im in a game design program in Toronto and im going to go into the modelling and texturing field aswell, ill upload some characters i made in maya and normal mapped in zbrush, i see this reel is pretty old 2007 what do u work on now? srry for the long reply but im really interested and its hard to find people who are actually good at what they do lol

  • @525Leomas I still like to model characters and creatures in my spare time. I am currently a environment artist at 5th cell in WA. I pretty much model and texture everything except for characters. Working between maya and a level editor. You can see some of my newer stuff on my site kahlilreedy(dot)com. My most current game work is still under wraps so i cant post it until the game is released.

  • @525Leomas Reminds me of guyver the bio boosted armor.........GUYVER!!!!

  • DUDE !!! you can make a game from these characters, seriously.

  • @Markaintus

Hey thanks I currently work for a video game company in Seattle and i don't have enough free time to do my own work.

  • they're sweet. I liked the first one a lot!

  • those characters should be in a video game

  • these figures are pretty cool bu I want them to be animated it will look asome

  • These are not rigged for animation. You should look in to Maya, 3DS Max, XSI, Modo, Zbrush for modeling and sculpting.

  • @xiro79 So that's actually not displacement maps, but actual sculptures?? Sounds like a waste of time, but great practise and nice models nevertheless!

  • @xiro79 you must be blind.. clearly they are

  • well its both actually they are high poly with a normal map. if you look at the wireframes you can see that the fine detail isnt modeled. ever hear of zbrush.

  • Can they move? Where can I buy this kind of software? I have some really cool character ideas!

  • awesome

  • I love the wrath character, it would be awesome in the game I'm creating

  • I envy your talent. That's nothing short of awesomely epic. By the way, might I add that the first one looks like the Violator from Spawn? Very, very cool. Keep it up!

  • 00:41 METAL GEAR!

  • excellent work!

  • exciting textures, lots of color!

  • That first one is just nuts. five stars.

  • Please make a tutorial

  • love wrath man fucking awsome!

  • that last thing in the vid of those 2 fighting kinda looked more like they were dancing

  • pretty neat stuff!

  • I just jizzed in my pants.

  • its just frustrating trying to find words to fill my speechlessness, these are just AWESOME, i like the first one with the big feet and elbow spikes best

  • stunning.//////superbb chcrctrs....

  • so nice characters!!

  • cool idea

  • I'd love to see these low poly and textured and animated... you probably have better stuff now, since this was two years ago

  • Why "reel" ?

  • OMFG thats so freaking cool!

  • nice video&nice modeling..cool

  • Aye if the beast is for games the poly count it way to high.

  • ah you can cut down the polygon count in a day easy.

  • Thos who call it cheating are too technically minded, The object here is to create a great piece. It doesn't matter what was used to create it.

  • Btw... zbrush isn't cheating... anyone can use it. No one said it was against the rules. Are there even rules in CG!!?

  • u hav great creativiry

  • it's amazing

my fav one is the ninja : P

  • Dude i really want to learn how to make stuff that. It's very hard?

  • yes

  • unbelievably so

  • Zbrush shouldn't be viewed as cheating..Zbrush has a large learning curve, and it's sculpting tools provide a great facet for the digital artist. just my opinion. : )

  • How is Zbrush cheating exactly?

  • i dun think it is. i think that shortbus stated it was cheating for some reason

  • Dude... ask any professional artist and they'll tell you CG is ALL ABOUT CHEATING.

If you can cheat better than anyone else, you are THE MAN!

  • Yes, cheating is CG my friend. If you don't cheat you are not working efficiently.

  • zbrush is crap you dont use actual skill to model anything in it i find that the terrible part about it you dont even have to build a freaking base mesh! in zbrushes case you shouldnt have to go to school for 3d or naything

  • Nice video! I want to see you try rigging those! :]

zBrush/mudbox/etc is great for normal mapping, it's quite the essential tool for a lot of modelers as well as texture artists. All it takes is for you to acknowledge the software and understand how it works.

Criticism on the level of skill required to do anything on the computer is basically saying, "the easier it gets, the more you cheat."

I modeled actual clay, 3D clay in claytools, and zbrush. They're all quite fun to use.

  • is your name bradley because you sound like my friend that says the same crap. there are so many gaming companies out there that utilize zbrush to give low poly models that high poly look. it still takes a lot of work to master zbrush

  • that was meant for unrealanimation3d

  • no it doesnt stupid! ive used it b4! its 2 MIllION TIMES LESS THE SKILL OF MODELING what happen to the blood sweat tears and the i model better then you now its i cant modell better then you but i can sure as hell sculpt ten times better thats just gay if he modeled it then sculpted it im ok with it but if he used the zbrushes then basically he sucks

  • This doesnt make sense, "Dont use tools that make work easier." So you hate cars and walk everywhere?

  • @adamreno7 i think he means those tools remove some creativity by limiting you, although it works if you are a beginner, lol

  • building it 3 times, to have a beautiful model with low poly isn't effort, or skill?

    hmmm

oh- and the blood, sweat and tears got devoured by efficiency, deadlines and teamwork.

good models, regardless of the way they got to that point.

  • what a fucken turd you are

    UnrealAnimation3D

  • pryest look whos talking and all ur comments say ur a pervert wow child molester to and ur catholic

  • Comment removed

  • O_O i love jews O_O not catholic religion tho

  • Then don't watch the video. Don't look at something and then complain about it's content. You are the one who clicked the button.

  • Yea, he's a moron, I'd just ignore him. But still, zbrush does make it a lot easier! And it is good for creating normal maps!

  • not bad

  • Very nice, the coulor schemes could use a bit of work if you ask me though

  • Awesome work.

  • Not very impressed. Needs more work.

  • ur a retard

  • just stop commenting

  • As a 3d artist I can say that although it needs works it is very good. I liked the models although they did have a lot of polys, but hey I couldn't do that.

  • I agree the poly count looks extremely high, your rendering would take one hell of a hit if you had more than one of these rig and in motion. But still rather cool looking.

  • to sloth: That's why, at least when doing it professionally, animation studios have at least 5 to 10 server computers all dedicating their full capacitive and collective abilities to rendering ^^

  • Yeah, that is true but when you're in my case, you dont got 5 to 10 but 1 is what i deal with. maybe someday, I can dream right? 5 to 10 Sounds great.

  • Fortunately for this artists, he is not in your case, Sloth. So no the poly count is not extremely high :P

  • great job!

  • I didn't find the camera work distracting.

  • Comment removed

  • more polys dude more, unless u are not going to use this for an engine

  • great job that was very good rated top rate well done

  • Awsome Characters and some great modeling its truley inspiring ^_^

  • Great character and Modeling. Nice scene. Like the texture rendering too.
