Off topic..E.J.'s mouth has always irritated me. He looks like a cat with a furr-ball or something. On topic, nothing worse than a fanatical Muslim or Christian. These motherfuckers are the worst in the world. Completely insane. I say, 'Build the Mosque at Ground Zero!' Hell,we destroyed Iraq, built a Military Base w/Christian Church right smack dab in the middle of Ground Zero Bagdhad! If they have to live with this shit, so should we. It's only fair. Oh, & anyone that disagrees? Fuck you
I wish their was an end to the "Religious Right" in America as far as their Intolerance to people because they disagree with them. And their impact on the Republican Party. The Republican Party would be better off if they separated from the "Religious Right then they could bring in Conservative Libertarians and Independents. And be a mainstream Conservative Party.
the christian vote was split between huckabee and romney and a few others which got mccain nomination dems were gonna win election in 08 no matter what because of bush if vote wasnt split between republicans it might have been closer mccain just bad nomination couldnt get majority of christian vote and economy was getting worse
I would like to see these religious fundamentalists create their own country under their own theocracy and watch them slowly fail. Then they'll realize that mixing religion with government creates poison.
Religious right is the major force denying real history of killing the indigenous native Americans with Gods' name . We still need Colombo discovering North America.
The idea of MANIFEST DESTINY. A sense of imagined specialness that bestows upon one the right to steal, murder and assume government. What is really amazing is how close "Christ Alone" preachers have no problem with the (despite cries of conspiracy) an obvious mysticality of Masonically led D.C. Along with torture, and with covert operations. This all conveniently tucked under the rubric of "national security". The whore religious right and her syphillitic suitors, militarist politicians.
People of these regions have not always been Dominionists. Most were relieved to be truly relieved of politics. However, government operatives have a deep interest in the rallying power of American Christianity. WWI brought a bond selling, flag rallying, Germany hating religion of "patriotism" to the forefront. With no more frontier left to pillage America joined in to fight the "baby eating Germans". We got to France and realized we were snowed. Then came the Lost Generation. The 1st Hippies.
Dionne is right. If the religious right had the same level of influence, Guliani, Huckabee or Romney would have been the Republican nominee. Instead an experienced Washington politician has won it.
The Republican Party was just fractured that year. Huckabee still got a sizable percentage of the vote. The problem for the conservatives was that they lacked a frontrunner candidate who brought the total package conservative ideals. They needed a hawkish evangelical with business acumen. These qualities were dispersed amongst a host of candidates - good thing too.
Like it or not, your opinion is no better than theirs.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could just kick everyone out of your country that doesn't see things the way you want them to? Because after all - you're superior - just like Adolph was.

I agree, religion does not belong in politics. And dumb country hicks who think otherwise should leave the U.S. and start their own theocracy.

We can only hope this is true. Religion has no place in politics and politics has no place in religion.
