  • The. Man.

  • Every time I listen this masterpiece, Tom is able to shake my soul...thanks

  • This is real music...raw and soulful. Not the cold, emotionless tracks you hear everywhere with computerised drum beats and perfect, refined voices. Sure, there are a lot of singers with great technical control over their voice...so what? None of it touches me...

  • Di una bellezza struggente.

  • his voice is like wine

  • @Malsanoman Yep, wine...... mixed with aged whiskey. :D

  • I had a dream about the one I love and when I woke up I remembered this song... Baby you can never hold back spring.

  • fantastica!!!!!

  • So close your eyes...Open you heart, to the one who's dreaming of you...

  • ........<3 <3 <3 .......

  • tom waits is a fuck

  • @ManfredSupertyp It may have been just a fuck for you but he is still waiting for you to return his calls!

  • "close your eyes, open your heart"- not bad, Waits. Not bad

  • an ok song ...

  • Tom hold back ur Spring time...

  • my new favourite feeling

  • it puts you there man!!!

  • I love how it just says "A good song." in the disciption bar.

  • I was standing in the room with a broken heart, looking out the window at the sunshine breaking through the branches od trees, and my brother suddenly put on this song...and for no reason at all, tears started falling like 10 seconds into the song. Will never forget that. Too much beauty, Mr. Waits...

  • @mrsbookthief Nice comment. I hope your heart's mending well! ; )

    Az.

  • @mrsbookthief u were weeping because your broken heart...

  • LOVE MOVIE ..

  • je ne comprend pourquoi 18 personne n'aiment pas! Tom Waits c'est un rêve vivant...

  • some of his songs are waayyy out there ( i love those), and some are like lullabyes ( i love those even more).

  • Nothing hits me harder then lyrics of this song. Thank you, Tom.

  • This is the song I want to be played at my funeral ..

I'm only 17 but I'm sure, sure that Tom Waits already has added so much to my life, I couldn't imagine a life without his music.

    Thank you Tom!

  • marvelous

  • Here is our version of the song. Passed Mr:Tom and Anti-records ears and they approved it. From our fouthcoming album, Gibrish Sweden.

    All rights belong to Waits/Brennan

Search: Gibrish Sundsvall Du kan inte hejda våren

  • Wonderful. Tom Waits has been described as a 'white black man'. I know what that means. In a different was, that's me too. First language Swahili, & always was closer to the watu in Tanganyika/ Tanzania than to my 'own' people, the wazungu (white people). My video has original footage.

  • Is it just me or does he sound like Louis Armstrong in this song?

  • always amazing uncle Tom!

  • ive dreamed of seeing him live. hope i get the chance.one of the best singer, songwriters of all time.genious.

  • Best love song ever.

  • Thanks, Tom!

  • This guys voice just has something special about it that I can't find the words to describe. Powerful, dark, beautiful, spiritual.. all of those things and much more.

    Magic

  • Great photo montage, thanks!

  • ¡¡¡¡Master!!!!

  • ¡¡¡¡Master!!!!

  • A modern day Bob Dylan...

  • @silverstartrucker Bob Dylan is 70 years old and Tom Waits is 61, so they are pretty much contemporaries. Bob's first record was released in 1961 and Tom´s fist record, saw light in 72, just a decade later

  • love his style

  • spring or not, this rolls the way i like it

  • my favorite song of his. you are amazing tom!

  • Fantastica cancion

  • well diddleyism, I'm 63 about Tom's age and I have been listening to him since the 60s. Him and Bob Dylan.

  • everyone shut the f**k up, stop hating each other, and listen to the damn song :o

  • @CosmoTF well said

  • @CosmoTF thank you! agreed!

  • Life has been shite of late but when I walk through bluebell woods, just outside my cottage with the grandchildren, words could never be so true. Spring is magical and bursting out, I can hear the cuckoo as I write. Am also watching the little ones sleep, 'innocent while they dream'. Mr Tom does dreams so well and leaves pictures in your mind when dreams are gone. Dream on, folks.

  • Tom Waits is soooo....BIG!!! So many great melodies and what a songwriter he is...and that magic voice...a living legend!!!

  • he looks like my grandfather

  • @Brementuning007 awesome! mine too! :)

  • Dickhead! What's wrong with acting like a 5 year old, it was much nicer being 5 than it is 60 and fishing for trout in the stream at the bottom of my childhood garden. Don't want to sound patronizing but if you're lucky enough to get to 60 you'll realize its a whole different ball game. You've totally missed the salient point of what I was trying to say, you silly young dude. Why can't we just all enjoy the most wonderful man? Diddley x

  • 15 people are waiting for winter.

  • reading these comments is wonderful. I get his work is and yet I cannot explain what it is that not only makes me get, but also try to be the kind of person that can get it. The latter is probably the more important thing about tom waits that I love, how he lets you in, shows you around and lets you know your always welcome.

  • @CosmoJarvis The main essence is that he weaves stories into your mind. I was so, so, lucky to see him live in a dingy club in London. We both drank whiskey, we never met, he drank it on stage and I drank it watching. He's now stopped drinking, I assume the piano has also.

Lots of love to all you Tom fans, my baby boy Tom has just come out of jail (I jest not). Google the Everley Brothers, yes I'm the Lady old & Grey.

Jarvis rules OK - c**ts are still running the world.

    Love Di x

  • totally awesome......nobody else got what he,s got.......ohhh my.....

  • lovely.....

  • Tom Waits

Poet, Musician, Philosopher, Actor. A guy who doesn't know me but has added immense value to my lifetime. Thank you.

  • @anhelo911 Best comment so far! Most of the others are from silly little boys who I wish not to waste my time replying to, and I'm not a sad old aged hipster or a false prophet, just a 50's beatnik still in awe of Jack Kerouac. One of my favourite Tom songs mentions all the little boys, think it might be Nickel on the Dime or something similar but as Oscar once said, "youth is wasted on the young". As you say, Tom Waits has enriched my life, he'll never know me but does that really matter?

  • @diddleyism

I dont bother commenting usually but sometimes its involuntary.

You can never hold back a good comment..

  • El Tigre & la nieve,

    disfrute mucho esa película.

  • @Joose1993 Pardon? Me only speaky Anglo-Saxon!

  • I hate all that "I liked this bla bla bla before bla bla bla" it doesn't matter how you discover something, if you find it sifting through old records or its thrown at you from everywhere if you like it listen if you don't then don't doesn't mater how old you are either reverse contrarianism pisses me of but contrarianism pisses me off more.

  • @mrthomaskt I've been contrary for 60 years, my parents should have called me Mary, but silver bells and cockle shells were not really my thing. Interesting you're called Mr Tomask, my baby boy Mr Tomask came out of prison recently. I used to call him Thomas Aquineus something or other ( Water Babies) but now just Tom Tom the piper's son. 31 years ago I named him after Mr Waits, bet you weren't named after Mr Waits.

    Love Di x

  • i remember my dad pausing and playing this song on his record player, i will love tom always.

  • To me, this video feels like an eulogy. It's really good, you did a great job, but I can't help but feel sad seeing those photos of Tom at different points in his life associated with this tune. It's so bittersweet.

  • I love it

  • so deep. fathoms...

  • a great song

  • a great song

  • What a great sign of wisdom, diddleyism, that you discovered him before all of us young fuckers. Do you take that wisdom with you in your grave? I'll hope so, cause to me you're a false prophet! :D

  • @Slagert63 Silly boy

  • thats music

  • simply perfect

  • La tigre e la neve :).

  • Waits is a lyrical genius -

    someone who can create soundscrapes

not only in his music, but also in his lyrics.

He didn't have to 'officially' be in the

"Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."

His loyal fans put him there many years ago

and passed him on to each new generation.

It is to them I say ~

Heart-thanks for the priceless gift of Tom Waits!

    .

  • @Giavannanow It's my understanding that his wife rights much of his song lyrics.

  • Comment removed

  • @illustriouschin Yes, you're partially correct. His beautiful wife Kathleen Brennan have worked together since "Swordfishtrombones" in '83. She is credited as co-writer and co-producer ever since. He wrote "Martha" "those were days of roses, poetry and prose...." is especially impressive when you listen to it and realize he wrote it at the age of 21! .
  • great song, and a really great compilation of Tom Waits stills! Thanks for posting this!

  • Nice one Pops.

  • @shingallon - hahahaha!

  • 14 peepz want to hold back spring.

  • 1500 YES, a few fools in another world, (no)

  • Marvelous Tom, and Benigni

  • Beautiful ThnXXX!

  • I tried holding back Spring once and it went, "BOING!" :)

Great tune! Thanks, Barb, for sharing.

  • The tiger and th snow is so beautiful....... =)

  • The best one ever, ORPHANS - Brawlers, Bawlers, Bastards. Shame he stopped drinking but maybe it was just the piano. Saw him at a small venue in London many moons ago, accompanied by a bottle of bourbon, me not him, though he might have had one too. It was pure magic, have seen all my old heros, Bruce, Shane, Jarvis, Marianne, Patti, Lenny Al Jolson etc etc etc but Mr Waits has got to be the best! Am just about to go down Fannin Street. Met Old Tom Frost in Dublin but that's another story.

  • what album is this song on?

  • I was on the road with him in the '70s.

  • elle est meuche

  • My dear friend's husband passed away 10 days ago. They were such a great family, one of the happiest people I've ever seen... I'm thinking of sending this song to her, but I don't know if it will ease her or make things worse, for I can never hold back my tears on this song.

    @diddleyism definitely a good choice

  • The tiger and the snow... So beautiful. Damnit.

  • My funeral song - 60 now and I discovered him before all you young fuckers!

  • @diddleyism hahaha , this made me laugh cause , im 15 , yes you did , im pretty jelous (:

  • @dcdude171 So, so pleased I made a 15 year old laugh, my granddaughter Jasmine is 14 and she just thinks I'm a total embarrassment and so uncool. One day, when I pop my clogs, she'll realize what a cool Granny she once had. Just hope she enjoys Tom Waits as much as I've done.

    Love from Granny Di x

  • @diddleyism well, she should be happy to have such a cool grandmother !!! haha

  • @diddleyism lol

  • @diddleyism thats a pretty mature thing to say for a 60 year old. Chill, and just listen.

  • @diddleyism You sound like scarface ron :D

  • @diddleyism

Do you want us to get off your damn lawn now?

  • @ShinGallon I like that one!

  • @diddleyism There's nothing more pathetic than an aging hipster.

  • @ZachsGayCat Dickhead!

  • @diddleyism Exactly.

  • @diddleyism so,

  • @diddleyism and how, brother. I am 25 and this is my all time fav. Cheers to good music, whenever it may have originated

  • @diddleyism do you want an award or something? 60 and you act like a 5 year old. "I get to do it first Timmy I saw it first!!!"

  • @kowtpr187 Silly boy. Who rattled your cage?

  • @diddleyism your wife rattled my cage last night! She wanted some young bones in her.

  • @diddleyism

LOL ... better being a young fucker than an old fucker who won't fuck anymore ... hahahhahahahahah ...

  • @yapyapyapyapyap Since when was there an age limit on fucking?

  • @yapyapyapyapyap

Better being and old fucker who wont fuck any more than a young fucker who will never be fucked.

Face it, its not gonna happen. One day, you're gonna be one of the 42 virgins they offer up to suicide bombers and they're gonna ask for a refund.

  • @diddleyism Been a fan for 31 years myself. I'm now 48.

  • @diddleyism s'not a competition, cheif

  • @diddleyism good for you ;-)

  • @diddleyism - LMAO!!!!!!!

  • @diddleyism hehe but i'll enjoy him long after you are gone ;)

  • @diddleyism I'm a young one and I gave you a thumbs up because you're not ashamed. My hats off to you, all of you bastards.

  • @diddleyism I started listening to him in 1974. Saw him written up in Rolling Stone magazine. The Heart of Saturday Night. Immediately went out and bought Closing Time. Been a fan since. Saw him open for David Bromberg in 1976 in Philadelphia at the Academy of Music when he was promoting Nighthawks at the Diner. Yes.

I'll be 60 in three years.

  • @JLWing77 - I'm not sure. Tom Waits and his wife wrote this song. Unless you know something I don't, I think you're way off. Also - who are all of these other people covering this song?

  • This is an old standard and everyone and their brother has covered it. But man. I don't think anyone can beat THIS version. I wish Tom would do more of these standards like this.

  • Wait until spring,Bandini...

  • I discover this song from the soundtrack of "The Tiger and the Snow" ....just amazing!!!

  • having watched this in mid January, I could not agree more than Spring is more than overdue

  • Age has nothing to do with appreciation for music. You can be 10 and love Tom Waits or 80 and like Katy Perry.

all I know is Tom Waits is brilliant and magical.

  • check out the movie "the tiger and the snow" . this song is the "main" song for it. i don't know the real term, but it's a great movie. plus, tom's in it for a short while.

  • 'hey hey, I'm twelve and I' a fucking fag' lol, I'm so knowledgeable and above-my-age in music, look at me

  • @glassjawboxer90 and he is also much more mature than you are.

  • @glassjawboxer90 Your a cock you know that right? That was a year ago; I was idiotic.

  • @R1DDL3RS

"That was a year ago; I was idiotic."

    No you weren't.

You were and are entitled to express YOUR opinion.

Never give that freedom away ~

especially to anyone who is 'mean-spirited'

    in their response to you.

\m/ - NOW~ ROCK ON sharing with us your opinion!

    .

  • @Giavannanow :3 Awww thankyou :) Nice to see people with souls xD Doesn't exist anymore.

  • @R1DDL3RS Yes, caro uno, {{{WE}}} do. When you meet someone whose 'soul' isn't aligned with yours, mentally send them Universal Love; and move on. ALWAYS forward! Yes? ╰⊰⊹✿ ✿⊹⊱╮ FOOTNOTE: Have you listened to TW's "Downtown Train?" .
  • @Giavannanow That is such a nice thing to say. Yes, we are all entitled to an opinion and should not let the mean-spirited mar that fact.

  • Encantador<3

  • What album is this on?

  • @MultiPedroH 3 disc set, "Bawlers, Brawlers and Bastards."

  • great music,great interpretetion,thank you tom waits!

  • a good song.

  • chilldren shouldnt listen tom waits imo cause despite his great work which i admire i think that its also too sad for a child to cope with.also every1 that dont want to get depressed shouldnt listen to him.

  • @koufitsas You're right, because a child's interpretation has nothing to do with enjoying the music and everything to do with what you point out to mold his perception...

  • Muy buena......en español en ...." la lluna a la finestra"

  • The majority of "music lovers" on this earth will never see any of these photographs....

I take pride in the fact that ive seen every damn one of em' 100 times +

  • I think I am responsable for at least 100 of the views.

    so beautiful.

  • bye bye

oh yeah, his musiç's pretty cool too :)

  • best song

  • My parents are divorcing. Today, I read some messages that made me sure my mother has a lover.

Thank you for this, it's making me feel better.
