  • Kid two things you got wrong are you place the noose on top of the platform because the wood will keep the animal away from noose. second thing the rope should go over the top of the trap if the rope goes around the side it can get caught in the trap itself giving the rope slack and allowing the animal to get free. lightly cover the wood and noose with leaves if you want to hide the rope.

  • thanks for wasting my time

  • @MegaGrizzlygreen Hey, I didn't make you click the play button! ;)

  • @PAbackwoodsman no but if u guna put some thang up least put some titme into it and it was a waste of my time

  • you dont put it under it retard

  • @BamfMan13 already mentioned about 63 times.

  • Are you supposed to tie the nuse to the string withe the small stick I get how to make the platform but what do i do with the string

  • If you are at the top of the world you make the world you live in. Try to hold on breath as long as you fucking can. Then you will see what i mean by the rest of 'scary nature'. You make scary nature. Humans. These things depend from you. If everyone from da start of the world changed their attitude towards themselves and also other living lives, there would be nothing like that now. You will say 'oh yeah, take lion home'. Yes, good people take lion home.

  • I forgot if i used this or the toggle release when i made trap before. If i used the toggle trap i used an idea of this one with the platform. I caught 2 birds and one water hen (still a bird i know but it cant fly much and is much bigger)

  • 58 people just get lizard

  • tie the noose to the small stick your animal will git away if it touches the ground because the tree is to short

  • Almost Perfect noose goes ontop of the platform and over the top stick. Path of least resistance but other than that its awsome

  • He ha gustado mucho es una trampa resolutiva

  • what happened if it diddent stand on the platform

  • @chrash29 if the noose is under the platform, it would not get caught unless there is a gap in the platform. just put the noose on the platform with better results.

  • wont work u cant have the top beam attached because the animal will have to be flung up and it will get out because the top beam blocks it check out my video for a better description, how to make, and so it will actually work

  • even though it may not work, i give you credit for inventing it. you have to be pretty smart to even understand the concepts of how to make a trap. keep it up, i'm sure you will invent a highly efficient and functional trap one day.

  • thnx gonna try it out 2morrow

  • good imagination but practical u wont use it mate d:D

  • did u cach anithing

  • pa sucks go ohio

  • u suck dont get lost or you'll starve those traps wont catch shit unless u do them right which ovously u dont know how to

  • Haha l like your name, love Pa

  • do you usually use bent over young trees?

  • the loop need to be on top because when the animal steps on it the loop wont b cought on the animals ankle

  • Why don't yall give this guy a break with all the negative comments, the main thing he shows is a great trigger system, geez i can't stand these armchair woodsmen.

  • Although the folks have right with the loop having to be on top of the platform, the trigger mechanism is simply ingenious!!!

  • sorry bud that wont work, your platform is over the neuce therefore when pressure is put on the platform and the trap is sprung, then the neuce slides out from UNDER the platform. The problem is the animal is on tom of the platform. You can make the area your rope covers larger to avoid the problem, but then you lose the "yanking" power of the rope, meaning the trap with spring, but the rope will have too much slack and the animal will get out.

  • @DurtyxThurty already stated many times, but thank you.

  • @DurtyxThurty why not just put the nuse on top of the platform

  • Is really easy to make but the thing is if the animal don't have the weigth to push down de trigger the trap don't gonna activate.

  • why the fuck would i eat it for dinner

  • @hondaxr8098kid ask yourself that question.

  • @hondaxr8098kid its called being an outdoorsman. ;)

  • @hondaxr8098kid you really shouldnt be killing something unless you plan on eatting it or its screwing with something around your house

  • @tenorsax365 I agree, survival situation only!

  • @hondaxr8098kid Die Hungry so.

  • WOW OVER 150,000 VIEWS! THANKS FOR WATCHING EVERYONE!

  • Didn't quite understand the set up but the end result was good!

  • Hmm . . . Stick For Dinner :X

  • Great job im gonna try it!

  • good trap but you want to put the snare over the platform because it hasnt got a chance of grabbing the animal under there unless you are real lucky

  • It's a cool theory and may work, but most animals will jump when they feel the ground or platform give way under their feet. Cool video though man.

  • young tree= sapling

  • Cool, I liked the trap nice job.

  • first of all the noose needs to be on top so that wen the animal sets it off the noose will catch it beter. secondly its called a sapling not a young tree

  • @bigdaddysquid21 a sapling is another common name for a young tree, and yes, the noose should be on top of the platform. please read previous comments.

  • @bigdaddysquid21 Well durr a young tree is a sapling you absolute doosh bag!!!! no one cares what he calls the tree!

  • ✭✭✭✭✭ TRAP.

  • Interesting trap. Have you tried it IRL? Any luck?

  • @cybercab Due to my uncertainty of local hunting/trapping laws, I have not set one up with the intent of catching any animals. Feel free to give it a try if laws in your area allow you to catch an animal at this time, or at least build one to try it out like I did in this video. People in the past have left comments saying it worked great for them.

  • @PAbackwoodsman Cool. I may have to give it a shot. I had bunny prints all over the snow yesterday at my cabin here in Alaska. I may have to give it a try.

Don't mind the haters. You're doing a great job.

  • Put the noose on top of the platform then you've got more of a chance of getting something But good vid

  • you should actualy put the loop over the platform otherwise the small animal will be fall with the platform as the snare gets pulled out the side

  • awesome video, very cool trap, a little complicated if your stuck in the woods for days and flustered, but non the less a great invention. a good watch. from Nova Scotia Canada

  • Good job mate, haters wana hate, like they could do better.

  • that's way to much work. why not dig a hole, sharpen both sides of some sticks, then place it in your hole, cover you shallow hole with some light twigs that will easily break under pressure then wait for an animal to come and impale itself on the trap that took ten minutes to build. not the complicated one that take more than an hour because you screwed up like four times!!!

  • @madmicah2 I never said you had to use this trap, i'm just showing you an alternative. use what you like.

  • @PAbackwoodsman Dude Epic Fail you have no idea how to make a platform Trap. You have never caught anything with that Trap and you never will. the biggest fail is that you should put the noose on top of the platform. All a bored the fail Boat Toot! Toot!

  • @megacountry100 Yes, but if you show a trap to a survival audience, like any lecture, you should be SURE of your facts

  • @madmicah2 there are many different types of trap. Also, a responsible person wouldnt make those incase of losing it (and stepping in it, wounding you, and dying in the woods) or forgetting it for some other person to find. Ass.

  • Comment removed

  • you eat sticks? na just jokeing, thanks. ;)

  • It would make more sense to have the noose on top of the platform, and have the entire plat form covered with a this layer of foliage.

  • i bet u have caught nothin with that

  • @dpsninja You are correct! I would only use it in a survival situation ; )

  • This is a great idea, and he was just using the marshmellow as an example

  • what exactly do you think your goin to catch with a marshmallow? maybe a coon or possum but i dont recomend eating those 2 types of animals. try something like peanut butter, peanuts or something of the sort. that way you might catch somethin like a squirrel, which taste really good and are perfectly safe to eat.

  • @MrLaneallen It is not a marshmellow, just an example of bait, whatever you prefer to use. All i said is "let's say this is the bait right here" please listen.

  • This is too complicated, and you would have to set about 10 of these traps usually. I would think there would be better / faster way to do it

  • uhmm... i noticed something, the noose i think should go over the platform not under it and we don`t normally put bait on that kind of trap.n we set it up on an animal trail once stepped the trap will catch the animal by the leg. i`m not saying it will not work but i`m sharing how we do it here in the Philippines. thanx for sharing your video. btw put it on top not over the platform. sorry bad english

  • uhmm... i noticed something, the noose i think should go over the platform not under it and we don`t normally put bait on that kind of trap.n we set it up on an animal trail once stepped the trap will catch the animal by the leg. i`m not saying it will not work but i`m sharing how we do it here in the Philippines. thanx for sharing your video.

  • If set up right, you can get an Elk with this type of snare.. All you need is an efficient length of cable, surgical tubing, and you're good to go. Except without bait, instead lay it on a trail. By the way, thanks for taking the time to share this with everyone. Future times may require alot of wilderness survival.

  • thanks so much!

  • awsom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why dont you just put the noose on the platform because what are the chances its gonna put its foot in the tiny space.

  • yeah... .. . more like you have a trap that triggered and an animal that's now more cautious... You're going to rely on nature to not be balanced itself and dumbly stumble into the noose.

Pro-tip: Set your noose ON TOP of that "platform"...

  • Ohh I get it now...cool idea, what are the chances of a critter gettn into that prediciment though??

  • Great vid. Good job of explaining it as well. Glad there's still ppl out there who enjoy the outdoors and trapping and woodsmanship. keep em coming. cheers

  • nice job...!!! =]

  • very clever!

  • great trap like it :) 5* dude \m/

  • OVER 100,000 VIEWS!!! THANK YOU VIEWERS! KEEP IT UP!!

Thats like every person in the city of Boulder, Colorado watching The Platform Trap!

    -PAbackwoodsman

  • "and you have your dinner"

Ya or I could just pull out a dollar and go to mc donalds XD Jk good job

  • it is easy and it works thank u

  • Great job keep up the good work

  • Good Job, glad your learning. Yeah, like others said put the loop on the top. You can also use smaller trigger stick so that there is more room for platform which you also might want to add a piece of bark that will fit perfectly on the platform (same size as platform) so animals foot don't accidentally fall through, which will increase your chances of a catch.

  • @mikeoutdoorsman

    Thank you

  • Here are some tips to improve the trap...

    1. Smear the freshly cut ends of the vertical posts with mud to avoid arousing the suspicions of animals

    2. Instead of lashing the uppermost crosspiece onto the vertical posts and wasting time and cordage, select hooked vertical posts instead which will trap the crosspiece underneath them.

    3. Use a large sheet of bark instead of individual sticks to create a more stable platform for the animal to step onto.

    4. Place the noose above the platform.

  • Thanks for posting!

  • @reubenprowse No problem!

  • i think a "young tree" is called a sapling?

  • @Map10193808 please read my previous comment

  • @Map10193808 i think a map10193808 is called a grandilloquence using bitch

  • @reblzaway sure, why not, and im the one using the word "grandilloquence" i believe it means that i'm overly wordy. The word bitch means nothing to me, because i am mature, unlike some people...

  • its a sapling, not young tree but great vid anyway

  • @CanadianOutdoors

A sapling is a young tree.

like a fawn is a young deer.

  • @PAbackwoodsman exactly, your learning so fast! lol

  • You're going hungry with that set up!

  • Over 80,000 views! Woo Hoo!! Thanks for waching!!

  • You should increase the tension by shortening the cord and tie the snare to the middle of the first cord, then use it on your friends

  • Comment removed

  • wats the bait

  • sweet vid thanks for the meat...

  • the snare is supposed to be on top of the platform, not under, it'll do nohing from under.

  • crikey it's the infamous stick, these are sneaky creatures and very willy......just kidding, nice video kid

  • where the dinner??

  • its slow any animal can run from it

  • i try it on my fat sister

(the bate was a donut but she cant fit in the hole)

  • nice video man, i subbed :)

  • nice i am going to do this

  • dose it kill them?

  • @coalb389 I have never tried it on a live animal

  • @coalb389 yes they will be flung in the air and suspended by the neck its not bloody unless somehow they are cut

  • @coalb389 it can if it gets thier neck and you let it hang there

  • have u ever caught anything with it?

  • no. please read earlier posts.

  • The loop should be on top of the platform not under it.

  • we already know. please read earlier posts.

  • where do you live my cabin has the same forest we live in michigan

  • in PA

  • mY BOY SCOUT DEN LAUGHED WHEN I SAID I CAN HUNT WITH ROPE WHEN THEY WERE SLEEPING I TOOK PENTUT BUTTER FROM OUR BAG AND SET THIS UP IN THE MORNING THEY AWOKE TO A FLAMING HOT RABBIT ON THE FIRE

  • you are suppossed to say for survival perps only otherwise you can get in alot of trouble am just informing you that because my friend got a fine for doing that.

  • This is for a survival situation only. Any trapping carried out by anyone should follow your local state laws.

  • @PAbackwoodsman

we used that same trap in philippines for catching quails. only difference is we put the noose over the platform then camouflage it by covering with some dry leaves. it helps prevent the sticks from falling over the loop instead of catching the feet

  • I use this trap to catch niggers just put some kfc on there and its easy like sunday morning

  • 50,000 views! Thanks for watching everyone!

  • thank you for posting this i used it and it worked great!

  • @dravakius Awesome!

  • the noose should be on the bottom of the platform you fukwit.

  • please read the previous post ; )

  • ***OK, AFTER ABOUT 20 PPL SAID THAT THE NOOSE SHOULD BE ON THE TOP OF THE PLATFORM, I THINK WE ALL KNOW THAT IS WHAT SHOULD BE DONE, NO ONE NEEDS TO KEEP SAYING IT***

    thank you.

  • i dont hink the noose would catch the animal if its underneath correct me if im wrong but shouldnt the noose be on top of the platform also is the point of traping making a good clean kil without causing pain in this trap the animal may experience broken bones and such without dying intantaniously or in a live trap witch would inflict no pain.

  • i like this concept, you did a really good job of explaining on how it works. keep up the goodwork

  • I applaud PAbwman for doing what he does. His videos aren't all 100% accurate, but they are always 5 stars. He communicates and demonstrates concepts well.

Most of all he is very receptive of criticism and is always willing to lean. It's great to see a young guy willing to admit he doesn't know it all, and takes a big man to be willing to learn from the experience of others.

It takes a very small man to hide behind a keyboard, hurling obscenities, and not backing up one thing he has to say.

  • @TheMNcamper TRUE THAT!

  • @TheMNcamper

    Well said fella

  • it really works u just gotta put the noose on top

  • Nice work, and another good vid.

You do need to have the noose on top, otherwise the sticks on the platform will prevent the animal's appendages from getting snared.

  • @TheMNcamper thanks!

  • hey im 12 how do you make the thing that sets off the noose? plz respond i need for my fort.....like the thing that hangs the animal....... plz respond!

  • @WeirdThingsOnEarth

    the platform?

  • yes the PLAT FORM TRAP

  • @WJHSTAR

this is between me and WeirdThingsOnEarth.

    he said:

"how do you make the thing that sets off the noose"

there are different things that set of the noose like the platform, the prey, the sapling, and the small stick in the middle.

  • pretty shit wen u think bout it, id just use my gun in a survival situation, dumbass

  • And when your bullets run out then what? Or what if you didn't bring your gun that day? Hmmmm... You don't sound all that smart. And calling a guy a dumbass when you can not even type proper english or understand what he is doing. I think you got it all wrong. Pawoodsman seems pretty smart to me.

  • @FixedByDoc

    Bingo. ; )

  • well forget your gun is pretty impossible, even then my .45 is strapped on me all the time, running out of ammo? extremely doubtfull unless im wasteing hundreds of ammo at nothing or fighting in a war, on last note you tell me i cant type propper english? this is the internet, this is how millions type, u hav no usefull comebacks so you hav a go at the most ordinary thing. i think u got it all wrong doc

  • I highly doubt you have a gun with hundreds of ammo on you at all times because 1 it is illegal to carry into most establishments even though you can carry outside with the right permits. 2nd the law only allows a certain amount of ammo on a persons body even when hunting and that is way less than hundreds. I'd like to see you take a deer with a pistol. Bet you couldnt get close enough for anything but real small game. I know because I am highly trained w/45 & 9's as a Combat medic issued weapon

  • I'll give you the english point though. Most people do not take the time to spell or use correct english on youtube. It is a shame though because it makes people look illiterate. Not that you are. Just looks that way.

This still doesnt mean that you have the right to call a cool kid a dumbass because he can do something you cann't. Or because he does it differently. This way he does not need a gun. He doesn't need anything but a knife which I bet he knows how to make one out of stone.

  • but i can make a trap like that, except its made better and more accurate. i also can make a knife out of stone. and wen i poo out in the bush i dont burry it

  • Then make a video of your trap making skills like he did. Prove yourself or not. But it still does not give you the right to bad mouth somebody just because you think you are better than them. Wether you are or not. Bad mouthing people just shows that you are the dumb one. At least he is trying. & whats up with the poo thing. As a Health Education Spc. & a Medic, I can assure you it is better to bury it. As a survivalist I can assure you that it is better to leave no trace. So bury it please.

  • as a hunter it is a great way to trap animals, pooing in the same area attracts other animals and those animals. are my animals. whether its a spike pit, sling hammer , wire noose, or my gun, the smartest survival techniques that might get u killed, just might let U kill

  • If you say so. But that for sure is one of the dumbest things I have heard in a long time. I live where hunting is a way of life & for some their main source of food. And none of them would agree with you. Now I know you realy are full of shit.

  • I have never herd of poo attracting animals, just flies. Urine on the other hand can attract animals like deer, because they are attracted by the salt in the urine.

  • why so angry bud?

  • im not angry i just hate talking to dumb cunts like your self. it makes me sick too see how stupid and ignorant you are, fuck fuck fuck

  • Haha okay. I understand. No need to swear so much though.

  • wow. this passive aggresiveness suggests to me that you are an asshole that will never be happy in life.

  • i would probably use steel wire for the noose and the other rope for the actual binding of the sapling and maybe follow stephenv25's advice and put the noose on top of the platform =) other than thats its a great design ;) thx for sharing ;)

  • Good trap but it's called a treadle spring trap. Also the noose goes on the Treadle (platform) but you constructed it very well.

  • try putting the snare on top. but other than that great design!

  • great design but you may want to put the noose on top of the "platform" because chances are the animal won't have a leg in it

    ever catch anything with it?

  • I agree with you stephenv25

-But still-good video-and damn good trap! Its the Trebuchet of traps! Genius!

  • did you every catch anything on that and what

  • @GauthierPat1995 No, there was no legal game in season at the time.

  • that little cock rated your things bad whaat a hick

  • i made one and it works

  • @crazyhunter55555 good job!

  • I love stick dinner

  • you missed!

  • dude its better without the plat form...

The damn squrriels climb the plat form knock down the loose stick and runs away...

  • Nice mechanism but the noose needs to be on top of the flat ramp-sticks and supported to prevent it falling with the ramp-sticks so that the animals leg is standing in the noose and drops down through the lightly suspended noose when it goes, or the noose will just slide away under the fallen ramp-sticks unless the animal is very unlucky and happens to fall into it. Most nimals are generally very skilled at controlled falling though due to the nature of the forest.

  • its a late releas but it look cool

  • nice work bud

  • that does not look full proof to snare a animal

  • go try it out.
