Both Obama and Mitt wanted GM/Chrysler to restructure (Chapter 11). The difference is that Mitt did not want government funds to bailout GM/Chrysler and Obama did after Chapter 11 bankruptcy (restructure). So what Obama did was a big risk and it paid off for him. So he can run on this.
This is propaganda; the truth is quite different. The Federal Government has no constitutional authority to spend taxpayer money propping up labor unions or failed companies. FORD did NOT take any taxpayer bailouts and they're doing just fine. Yes, GM is doing well now that they're shipping more jobs overseas (the Volt will be manufactured principally in the "People's Republic of China) going forward. The GM stock bought with taxpayer money is running a gargantuan loss.
One of the major successes of the Obama administration!!
Did everyone see the awesome commercial during the Super Bowl with Clint Eastwood regarding the fact that the auto industry is back? If you missed it look it up - it makes you teary and proud
I'm sharing this everywhere. I'm in Detroit and a supplier. Hundreds of thousands of jobs would have been lost not just in Michigan but across the country if the auto companies did not get these loans. So glad our President made the right decision!
Thanks for this. The bottom line is, had the industry NOT been bailed out, many thousands MORE would have been out of work. Does Mitt the Leach care? No. Does Newt the Lech, and his bleached third? Apparently not.
Romney, Gringrich, Paul, and Santorum is going to have a hard time with Michigan

Not only would the jobs at GM and Chrysler been lost, but many suppliers, who also supply Toyota etc. would have taken a dive.
