  • Accompianist! OMG i would kill him or her, after finishing ;)

  • the piano and the voice is just perfect i think. :)

  • I think the poor pianist was struggling to follow her, she goes too fast!!!

  • @LaCarusiella In vocal recitals, the accompianist should follow the vocalist. She was trying to play catch up, which she should not have to do.

  • I love hearing her "recital" accent versus her "real" accent -- tickles me.

  • That voice is a national treasure. I heard her live, too bad I was way too young to appreciate it!

  • .....EVER

  • This is the worse thing I've ever heard.

  • Wow - I'm not a big fan of opera on this level but even I can tell the singer and the pianist aren't synchronizing properly. At the end it seems her voice carried the audience. Maybe that damn pianist was shot after all.

  • OMG, why did the pianist go that fast?

  • Apparently the accompanist David Garvey and Ms. Price were great friends from Julliard. He was her exclusive accompanist at the time.

  • This accompanist must be doing this mess on purpose... a shame. It was 1965, however.

  • I don't think this is Ms Price's best- the tempo is choppy (the accompanist should be hung and then shot) and the vibrato is too tight but the upper register is thrilling. She had had better days.

  • fleming is better on this song, price's vibrato is a bit too biting.

  • Wow. Just wow

Agreed, that pianist needs to check his ego at the door. .

  • What a privilege it is hear this perfromance. La Price is beyond description. This perfromance is so so lovely. An artist of great passion and refinement. Oh yeah!

  • This is far too painful to listen to.

The pianist should be hung, what an abortion. she has the most amazing voice and he/she destroyed it. Most of her performances are transporting. I ask all to listen to her Tosca on disc with von Karajan, thrilling beyond compare.

  • I would shoot the accompianist.. He controlled the tempo and did not follow the singer. Wrong.

  • @kgarmaker123 ugh you're right! what a idiotic pianist!

  • @kgarmaker123

incredible that she could sing this aged 65

  • @LohengrinT I think this was recorded in `1965.. although she still was singing this aria, long after she retired, and singing it well. Have you listened to Nilsson's singing at Levine's 25th? She was 77 and still she had B flats and B's and they were brilliant. too. There is no reason if the technique is right why a person cannot sing well their whole life.

  • @kgarmaker123 Agree 100%

  • @LohengrinT this is dated 1965. she was not 65

  • @kgarmaker123 he really did though...thats not ok.

  • I love Kiri singing this. But Leontyne! I think that this is even better! No wonder she got this applause. She deserved it. I love anything from Kiri, Deanna, Barbara (Bonney), Sissel, Gundula, Maria (Stader) and of course Leontyne.

  • j'aime sa voix.

  • Elegante al cantar.

  • The one. The only, And so young.

  • Brava.

  • she sounds so young in this..lovely!
