How could they screw over the 87 turtles like this, yeah they made some catchphrases but they were serious, the old series was pretty dark at times as well, after seeing phelous review of this it's really annoying how they treat the 03 as superior when both should be great, not the 87 ones being idiots when they weren't.

The 87 turtles spat in the face of the comics to me, which pissed me off. The 03 turtles treat it with respect, while still being family friendly for the most part. To me, the 03 turtles are better than the 87 turtles in everyway.

yeah but the 03 turtles are closer to the original comic at most parts than the 87 turtles if anything i would had no problem if they make a new live action making the turtles more like the comic to and the sequel not ending up like secret of the ozze being more lighthearted . and like turtles in time( need medication suppressant badLy!!) wish the most of the original voice actors came for the 87 turtles especially raph's.
In 1984, the Mirage TMNT comics were introduced, but became criminally overlooked and failed to make enough people to claim it as the original.
Later, it received its own cartoon show that was made in the same crappy fashion as the licensed American cartoon shows seen in the account of YouTube user "theswitcher", while many thought 1987 was when the TMNT was born.
In 2003, the TMNT went back to the beginning, but many 1987 TMNT fans couldn't get used to it. Some later got used to it.
I suggest everyone google the program "YouTube Downloader" and download the uncut version of this cartoon and burn it to a DVD yourself, if you would like to own a copy of it. The version in stores has 9 minutes cut out of it and was generally a horrible release. Don't support that junk! Thanks for posting THIS version dude!
@nobodysperfect06 well because people said that nickelodeon released the tv edit version and NOT the uncut version! and they seemed very lazy when they made the cover of the DVD because it did not have the turtles forever poster on the front of the cover! so it really seems that nick REALLY screwed it up with turtles forever!
Why do the 2003 Turtles look so much taller? I watched the first few seasons of the newer toon and they seemed just as short as the 80's Turtles. They come up to about chest level to Casey and most female humans are a full head taller than them. If the 80's Turtles were this much shorter, they would have had their head level below the waist line of adult humans.
I will say this: The new turtles are more like ninjas, the old cartoon turtles are just plain better, but the original redband comicbook turtles destroy all.
this movie is cool in ever way but buying it on dvd is a waste of 12 bucks. there r no special features what so ever and they show the version that came on tv. not the unedited version. the unedited version is way better cuz it explains a lot more stuff about the movie that was left out when it came on tv. man what a fucking rip off.

Funny that they could zoom in on something small like a sleeve logo and get it in perfect focus but they couldn't zoom in on the faces of the four turtles.

It's sad that the DVD version that's released is the TV cut down version. I was hoping for the uncut version, but then again it's released by 4kids and nickelodeon. So this may never see daylight on DVD.
I'm way too old to take the new turtles serious anymore, the old one isn't in fact better by any means. But it's the one I can relate to.
And what the fuck am I supposed to do with "darker". This is a show about mutated turtles. Why do the 1987 TMNT heroes and villains have vehicles and silly stuff? Same reason why Japanese Spider-Man and the Double Dragon cartoon have vehicles and other gimmicks. To help sell toys based on the shows. The 1984 TMNT, the original Spider-Man comics and the Double Dragon arcade both, which were the ones that started it all, never had vehicles and other silly gimmicks like others.
@DrunkenFist20XL Well, can't argue with that. I just couldn't like the '03 Shredder, because he was an Utrom. I was never familiar with these creatures and as the '87 version fan I just associated them with Krang, so I thought "Shredder + Krang as the same character = does not compute". I still appreciate that the 03 version of the story was more faithful to the comics, but You know... childhood memories always prevail :)
@TKnHappyNess I've been watching episodes from the old series actually. It first starts off as serious though funny. But later, it seems like they lost the seriousness.
I actually found out that their lines (80's turtles) were taken from some of their lines in the old tmnt cartoons. So I guess they did actually watch the old show. Still love how they parodied them. xD
They exaggerated the 87 turtles and make them laugh too much, they act like they're on laughing gas of something. Still it's not a bad try-- well for the first part anyway, have yet to watch the rest of the movie.
The 87 turtles are adorable. The only super exciting part about this entire thing is the smooth animation and the nicely rendered style of the old toon. It's so cool to see them again. But this would have been TOTALLY KICK ASS if they got the original voices.
I can't shake off the feeling they were trying here to make the '87 Turtles act like idiots to show that the '03 version is superior. I mean, come on, I grew up with the 80s version and sure, it was more light-hearted, but they were never THAT cornball (in fact, it was one of the best cartoons ever)! Love remembering Raphael's forth wall breaking routine, though.
You're perfectly right. They've made the '87 Turtles act as silly and childish as possible, the 2k3 ones pretty "normal", and the Mirage ones as big, bad and violent as they could ever be. It's all about contrasts, to make it more entertaining. *shrug*

yeah but the 03 turtles are closer to the original comic at most parts than the 87 turtles if anything i would had no problem if they make a new live action making the turtles more like the comic to and the sequel not ending up like secret of the ozze being more lighthearted . and like turtles in time( need medication suppressant badLy!!) wish the most of the original voice actors came for the 87 turtles especially raph's.

In 1984, the Mirage TMNT comics were introduced, but became criminally overlooked and failed to make enough people to claim it as the original.
Later, it received its own cartoon show that was made in the same crappy fashion as the licensed American cartoon shows seen in the account of YouTube user "theswitcher", while many thought 1987 was when the TMNT was born.
In 2003, the TMNT went back to the beginning, but many 1987 TMNT fans couldn't get used to it. Some later got used to it.

I suggest everyone google the program "YouTube Downloader" and download the uncut version of this cartoon and burn it to a DVD yourself, if you would like to own a copy of it. The version in stores has 9 minutes cut out of it and was generally a horrible release. Don't support that junk! Thanks for posting THIS version dude!

@nobodysperfect06 well because people said that nickelodeon released the tv edit version and NOT the uncut version! and they seemed very lazy when they made the cover of the DVD because it did not have the turtles forever poster on the front of the cover! so it really seems that nick REALLY screwed it up with turtles forever!

Why do the 2003 Turtles look so much taller? I watched the first few seasons of the newer toon and they seemed just as short as the 80's Turtles. They come up to about chest level to Casey and most female humans are a full head taller than them. If the 80's Turtles were this much shorter, they would have had their head level below the waist line of adult humans.

this movie is cool in ever way but buying it on dvd is a waste of 12 bucks. there r no special features what so ever and they show the version that came on tv. not the unedited version. the unedited version is way better cuz it explains a lot more stuff about the movie that was left out when it came on tv. man what a fucking rip off.

Funny that they could zoom in on something small like a sleeve logo and get it in perfect focus but they couldn't zoom in on the faces of the four turtles.

It's sad that the DVD version that's released is the TV cut down version. I was hoping for the uncut version, but then again it's released by 4kids and nickelodeon. So this may never see daylight on DVD.

I'm way too old to take the new turtles serious anymore, the old one isn't in fact better by any means. But it's the one I can relate to.
And what the fuck am I supposed to do with "darker". This is a show about mutated turtles. The concept alone is goofy as hell, the old one knew this and kept it fun (but not as fucking goofy and annoying as displayed in this vid) No hard feelings though, bet the new one has it's charm if I'd get into it.

The thing with turtles forever is,that they made the 80's TMNT characters more goofy than they originally were from the actual 80's tv series,they never acted this childish like this movie portrays them to be,I mean i can understand if the whole point of this movie was to make fun of the 80's TMNT,but they took it a bit too farther than expected=
but overall,still an awsome movie.

Toei Spider-Man (or Japanese Spider-Man) is to 1987 TMNT cartoon show.
Spider-Man 1-3 films are to the 2003 TMNT cartoon show.

Why do the 1987 TMNT heroes and villains have vehicles and silly stuff? Same reason why Japanese Spider-Man and the Double Dragon cartoon have vehicles and other gimmicks. To help sell toys based on the shows. The 1984 TMNT, the original Spider-Man comics and the Double Dragon arcade both, which were the ones that started it all, never had vehicles and other silly gimmicks like others.

@DrunkenFist20XL Well, can't argue with that. I just couldn't like the '03 Shredder, because he was an Utrom. I was never familiar with these creatures and as the '87 version fan I just associated them with Krang, so I thought "Shredder + Krang as the same character = does not compute". I still appreciate that the 03 version of the story was more faithful to the comics, but You know... childhood memories always prevail :)

Whoever designed the personalities of the 1987 Turtles never saw the original series. They were serious as much as they were funny.

@TKnHappyNess I've been watching episodes from the old series actually. It first starts off as serious though funny. But later, it seems like they lost the seriousness.
I actually found out that their lines (80's turtles) were taken from some of their lines in the old tmnt cartoons. So I guess they did actually watch the old show. Still love how they parodied them. xD

They exaggerated the 87 turtles and make them laugh too much, they act like they're on laughing gas of something. Still it's not a bad try-- well for the first part anyway, have yet to watch the rest of the movie.
The 87 turtles are adorable. The only super exciting part about this entire thing is the smooth animation and the nicely rendered style of the old toon. It's so cool to see them again. But this would have been TOTALLY KICK ASS if they got the original voices.

I can't shake off the feeling they were trying here to make the '87 Turtles act like idiots to show that the '03 version is superior. I mean, come on, I grew up with the 80s version and sure, it was more light-hearted, but they were never THAT cornball (in fact, it was one of the best cartoons ever)! Love remembering Raphael's forth wall breaking routine, though.
