Since the other thing was marked as spam: Protest Ringling Bros in Pittsburgh Saturday, November 1st at 5:30 PM at Mellon Arena, Mario Lemiux Place. Contact me for more details.
I work at a arena and worked the circus several times...
I can honestly say that regardless of the "video evidence" you may have, the animals are treated quite well. During practice there are no bullhooks, and no shocking collars. They are not chained in the tents, instead they have large portable gates, the animals are cleaned and cared for alot better for than in these "evidential videos",They have a truck that brings the animals fresh green plants, the hay supplement is just a "snack".
You work at an arena not the circus. Why would they let the people that let them peddle their cruelty see what's going on?
You might feel guilty and stop them (ie do the right thing). The video evidence is real. Check the tips of the "cains" next time the circus comes to town... if they let ya.
okay their "canes" arent bullhooks. they are spiked, but they are only a few millimeters long. they do have bull hooks, but only use them when the elephants start to behave dangerously. and the "canes" are only used during the performance to ensure safety of guest and performers
And why do you think the largest land mammal in the world might behave dangerously when shoved into a cage or train car, or is forced to perform wearing people clothes in front of huge crowd when s/he should be walking around in the wilderness? Perhaps because it's cruel and unnatural to treat them that way and then beat them when they act naturally... Justifying beating endangered species into submission for entertainment is ridiculous. You surely wouldn't allow it for a doggy or kitty right?
First off, they arent wild animals. Its a common misconception you peta freaks try to shove in everyone's faces. They were born in captivaty, ALL of them. They dont go take wild animals and try to tame them. They are like the cows we eat, but they entertain. their natural behavior changes when they arent in the wild, sorry to burst your bubble, that arguement is flawed, BECAUSE THEY WERE BORN IN CAPTIVITY!
First off, I have nothing to do with PETA like more activists do not, which shows how ignorant you are about the expanse of animal rights activism. Secondly, even if they are born in captivity (which many sources show many are taken fromthe wild) why should they not be granted the basic needs of their species? Elephants usually walk miles per day but are kept in small cages or chained to the floor for dumb human entertainment. They are beaten when they should be free all for human entertainment.
Then, people like you come along and try to defend this abuse, simply for entertainment. Did you know people that live in asian and african areas where Elephants are a native species may never see on in their lifetime? Yet spoiled brats think they should be able to see them twice a year, regardless of the cost.
People who support circuses are nothing more than self-centered and spoiled if they know what happens to these animals. You compare them to cows? Ever seen the inside of a factory farm?
You went against your own case with the cow remark. People need to stop being brats about things and give the rest of the world's inhabitants the respect they deserve. They aren't things.
I love how someone gave me a thumbs down for telling the truth. When someone inhabits the building, we have to learn everything they are going to be doing in order to ensure our safety and their safety.
For you to sit here and tell me I dont know what the hell im seeing is plain idiotic. I love animals, more than you think, and I saw the peta videos, got rowled up for nothing.. when I walked into work, while certain things were true they were WAY warped in the peta videos...
You love animals because you like seeing how cute they are and love seeing them do tricks. If you truly loved them, you would care about what is best for them, which is definitely not spending life ina cage, chained to the floor, or being beaten and neglected (sometimes to death). Think real hard about the definition of "love". Fur farmers that keep animals in tiny cages with rotting wounds and anally electrocute them for clothing say they "love" animals as well. Think very hard about love.
Im telling you, whilst some of the peta arguements are true, MOST OF THEM THAT REVOLVE AROUND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY ARE ON TOUR ARE LIES, or VERY TWISTED.I cant atest to the training or anything, but I will defend the circus by saying they take care of the animals on tour.I care about what's best for the animals, but I also understand that im not gonna stop this from happening and can only hope for the best treatment of the animals, all im trying to say is they are treated better than what u see
You can stop it by not supporting it. Ringling's numbers and shows are down for a reason. It's because people who really care about animals boycott and do not support the circus.
And again, do you really think that chaining an animal that belongs in the wilderness to the concrete by a busy intersection, tossing it some straw, then making it perform in a huge auditorium for crowds of loud people, is caring for an animal well? Because I hope you never have to care for me.
okay I see there is no convincing you I have seen what I have seen. You are gonna be stuck supporting the worse than what it really is Peta view of the circus. Im trying to tell you it is better than what is seems on the tour... I already said I cant vouch for the show training.
Can you vouch for the fact that they spend their days chained to the ground eating straw when they should be walking in the wilderness eating fresh foliage? Can you vouch for the fact that they spend time on asphalt and in train cars when they are wild animals that should never have to live that way? Just because they don't beat them right in front of you, doesn't mean anything else you see is right.
Okay. Well Id rather elephants be in the circus than out in africa being hunted by poachers... you forget that its shows and things like these that bring awareness to poachers and hunting. They also give people a chance to see them in person.
Also Ive personally seen the feeding schedule for the elephants and they deliver fresh foilage for the animals to feast upon in a truck. it comes twice daily. Ive seen the truck with my own two eyes, the straw is merely a snack or if the truck is late
or the show is about to begin and they have no time to give them a nice full meal. but then again a picture of a chained elephant and things said on some radical protesting group is real and everything I say is crap because your and my views on animal creulty are a bit different right?
Ringling uses conservation as a facade to make profits. Notice how that stuff only came out when they started losing ticket sales. Also, what is a better fate? A lifetime of imprisonment and often being neglected to death or a lifetime of freedom that may end in being poached (which IS ILLEGAL in most areas)? I'll take the latter any day.
It's not about differing opinions on animal cruelty. It's about simple science and the natural needs of these animals. Ringling violates these in every way.
Okay, now your saying the fact that they are "conserving" is crap too? I dont care when they started doing it, It's the fact that are doing it that counts. I can clearly see that in some areas they are crap as far taking care of the animals go, I dont recall denying that, But from what I know, it is not as bad as what peta puts out there...
Well, there are multiple law suits from several organizations including the ASPCA for Ringling's abuse of endangered species. Their so-called "conservation" program involves hundreds of violations. This is because they don't care about conservation, they care about entertaining and making money.
Next time you work the circus, look into the eyes in the swaying head of an elephant and ask yourself, does he want to be here?
Im sure she would want to be in a safe place where they can eat and drink, and have boy elephants. No one can truly answer that question for the animals.
About the people seeing them in person, those who live in areas where elephants are native species may NEVER see one in their lifetime, yet you think we should get to see them whenever we want? It's plain wrong and illogical to think that is ok.
As for the trucks, getting the 500 lbs of fresh and diverse foliage PER day PER elephant to the elephants would be a bit impossible don't you think? I've only seen them getting straw. But even if you are right, they still aren't getting what they need.
Well multiple people have been marking you down because you insist on saying what you saw is what always happens even behind closed doors and that animal rights activist footage (what they saw AND taped) is all lies. Why WOULDN'T people mark you down? You have been defending animal cruelty because you think, somehow, that huge wild animals belong in tiny cages and chained to concrete to perform for humans.
Okay, okay. If you really want to see what it is about, goto one of the locations they allow the public to go into the backstage holding pin area if you dont believe me. also try to get a job as a volunteer vendor for the circus. youll be able to see what I've seen.
I was there video taping last show. I saw elephants standing on concrete, swaying back and forth from the neuroses of being confined, eating straw (when they should be eating fresh plants), while everyone stared and made loud noises, all there to see the elephants, no matter what the cost was to the elephants.
Search "ringling exposed" on here and you will see that even their own website shows that they treat the animals unnaturally, robing them from mothers and so on.
