  • But I thought Hermione got drunk? she seemed drunk in the movie lol! great video thanks so much!

  • Its funny that this is for kids and its more unhealthy then a regular glass of beer

a glass of beer=good for you

a glass of sugar and butter= bad for you

  • Thanks! I am so gonna make this!

  • Question: if you dont have a candy thermometer, is there any way to know when the caramel has cooled down to 240 degrees without it?

  • Is the carbonating machine worth the dough?

  • Confusing,how would I do this recipe in english...liters,grams???

  • I never thought the books clearly let you know if butterbeer was alcoholic or not. Keep in mind... in England you can legally drink at 16 and they do drink firewhiskey in the books also.

  • @mikevanity Good points. Of course, anyone can spike this if they want to, and are of the legal age in their respective countries.

  • I always pictured it in bottles, not mugs...

  • @MrSaturn8881 I think in the books they drink it both from bottles (when Fred and George sneak it in) and mugs (at the Hogsmeade pubs).

  • the recipe's pretty fattening though. :) but the hell? i love harry potter!

  • Should we double or triple the ingredients if we're serving butterbeer for 2 or 3? I'm trying to make some for my friends this weekend.

  • @TatesOnTheSide This definitely makes enough for 2-3 because it is REALLY rich.

  • I do not have a candy thermometer, can you tell me where to buy one or can I do it without the thermometer?

  • @TheDarkestWorld Any kitchen supply store or Amazon. You can do it without the thermometer, just watch the caramel closely.

  • I know for sure it's alcoholic in the books, if only a little bit since all the kids drink it. Harry and Dobby talk about it when Winky basically becomes a drunk in the fourth book, remember? /book fanatic

Still, awesome! I'll have to try this, can't go to Florida anytime soon. Someone else asked too, what could I use if I don't have a candy thermometer?

  • @carpangler10 Different lighting, etc. You could add yellow food coloring if you wanted, I guess.

  • it is more yellow in harry potter

  • Why was the one in the movie that bright orange color?

  • @jrock99618 Different lighting, food coloring, different recipe, who knows. That's one of the great/frustrating things about food and cooking, a dish (or, in this case, drink) will come out a little differently every time.

  • yes! a non alcohol way to go =] totally going to try to make this

  • is it good ???

  • I loved it because of the alcahol free!!

Even though to me butter beer is kinda caramel-y how would it taste if I added caramel or nutmeg??How would I do it??

The color seen in the movie always reminds me of caramel,so I guess I just assumed it would be this way ;P

  • @TheEnglishRocker I would just grate some nutmeg on top while the drink is still warm.

  • The syrup is pretty high-calorie. What's the yield of mugs of butter beer for one batch? I'm assuming either 8oz or 12oz mugs?

  • @vomactx Honestly, I personally couldn't do more than a shot (1 oz) of this because it is SO rich. But even for people with more of a sweet tooth, I wouldn't serve more than 8 oz at most. This recipe will get you 2-3 8 oz servings or 4 6-oz(ish) servings.

  • There are some labels online that you can print out at a blog called Design Dazzle under their Supper Camp heading

  • Looks So Good!

  • Or just go to Orlando,Florida

  • What can I do if I don't have a candy thermomether ? Can I just guess ?

  • I've had butterbear in Orlando Florida. It was greeeat : )

  • What can I put instead of alcohol? I don't drink

  • @TheDarkestWorld You can leave the alcohol out entirely. The alcohol is merely optional.

  • Did you use salted or unsalted butter?

  • @rebeccachia We used salted, which is what we recommend. It cuts the sweetness just slightly.

  • somebody should show these mofos epic meal time :P

  • @DEATHMULE101 Seen it, big fans :)

  • This is awesome! I am a very big Harry Potter fan and am going to make this before I see the movie. Thanks for this awesome recipe.

  • wow, you can make butter beer... this is news to me although pretyty obvious in retrospect. might have to make this although instead of bourbon could you add beer?

  • @JamOnToast221 You probably could, although a shot of beer wouldn't do much in terms of proof. Maybe something like a coffee porter would taste good? It would make it even richer, though.

  • girls that can cook = super hot

  • so now that harry potter is "over" they should make a Harry Potter prequel (with James, Snape, Lupin, Serius, Peter, and Lily's last year)

  • Could you write the receipe please. I'm not americain or english, so it would be much easier for me.

What is that water you used ?

  • @LeTinamster In the saucepan with the sugar? Regular water. At the end? Seltzer water.

  • @artfuse Thank you

  • can you serve this without any liquor in it?

  • @monkeyboy857 of course

  • You my lady have earned a subscriber thanks for this video.

  • @Tatert212 ditto.

  • i always imagined butter beer would tatste like caramel and tea. =)

  • so if butter beer is non alcoholic then why the hell is hermionie pissed when she comes out of the pub?

  • @beastlybakes She isn't, she's just goofing around.

  • Great videos! I subscribed.

  • or you can go to islands of adventure in orlando to the wizarding world of harrypotter and get the best butter beer (but expensive) you've ever tasted in your entire life!

  • THANK YOU! And also, thank you for the very accurate description of the books and movies! ;)

  • or you can just go to harry potterland

  • Excellent video, I like your straightforward instructions laced with a little bit of humour or, ah, bourbon. I've added your video to my page "What Is The Best Recipe For Harry Potter Butterbeer." I will be checking out your other videos, too.

  • hahah you are funny and yumii

    (the beer)

  • Always love your videos.

  • is this served hot, lukewarm or cold? :)

  • @MyLifeInWonderland Any way you like! If you're serving it hot or lukewarm you might want to use 2%, 1% or skim milk instead of the heavy cream, and finish it with half milk, half seltzer. It won't be as fizzy but it will be more like a hot chocolate...just without the chocolate.

  • I need to finish the books. thanks for the recipe! :D

  • If you weren't already my favorite foodie video blog, you have just upped your own bar with this one. You doing the midnight showing on Thursday?

  • @gforsythe1 Heck yeah midnight premiere! And awwww, thanks :) <3

  • Rebecca you are so talented! Love it!

  • I always imagined butterbeer to be a butter-rum flavored soda... do you have any idea how I could modify the recipe to get that flavor?

  • @Jakathera A couple ways: Cook the brown sugar down with 2 T of rum instead of water; add a shot of rum instead of bourbon at the end (for the grown-up version, obviously); omit the heavy cream for an extra 1-2T butter; or use rum extract. But try to find real rum extract and not imitation rum - the imitation stuff is all corn syrup and propelyne glycol. Yuck!

  • @wcfoodies Thanks!
