  • timeless quality music like this ... or that crap Lady big nose ga goo puts out ?

Please, the poor kids of today have no taste ... so freekin sad ~

  • KMOD used to be great when they played material like this......

  • This was an early call center/tech support before they were all Philippino's and Indians

  • This song was way ahead of its time. Great lyrics and musicianship.

  • All time favorite live band....Followed them everywhere on the Island...Summerfests....and the starship in 82!!!!

  • everytime this came on the radio i had to crank it as loud as possible

  • @shack8110 You and me both

  • im a cold war sailor. i used to conduct foreign relations with this song blareing from my trusty boom box. sittin on a box of rockets, blowing dime store bubbles at the parties concerned.

  • aint heard this in 20+ yrs. still a face melting good time!!

  • GREAT STUFF ! We saw ZEBRA countless times @ the TEXAS CLUB in BATON ROUGE !!! THX

  • Fantastic song. Definitely one of the hidden gems of the 80s.

  • Wish I heard this on my local radio station....

  • Awesome Band and truely Amazing Song!

  • 4 people don't want to know whose behind the door...

  • absolutely love this band.....there wasnt enough played!!!

  • I remember.....Bigtime.

  • it doesnt get better then this zebra rocks the 80,s

  • As Flounder sez in "Animal House": Is this great or what?

Randy Jackson's aping of Robert Plant's falsetto voice was dismissed back in the day but listening to it now makes me smile. But I sure don't remember this video. Not exactly a good one although in those days there were plenty of stinkeroos done even by good bands.

  • @fligemon He even looks kinda like plant did in the 70s. Also this is an amazing song! Thanks to Dee Snyder for making me aware of this this morning

  • @fligemon what are you kidding?what kind of videos do you like? i especially liked this video, its a perfect match for this music and easily is better than ANY musicvideo from the last 17 or so years...

given the 80s were the best decade for musicvideos this is still above average even for this decade

  • A cross between Rush, Zep, and Yes! I had totally forgotten about this group. I swear i just love YouTube!

Now time to go surf some Saga!

  • Rewound the hell out of this song back in the day.

  • why i the hell did 3 people vote a bad song this song rocks i love zebra and im 13

  • @bombboykid People vote it down because they're stupid and have no taste in music. Remember people actually like Rebecca Black, Limp Bizkit and Nickelback. Some people are just fundamentally fucking stupid.

  • @pacorpse666 Hahahaha, oh there is no way to say that any better than you just did......

  • @bombboykid I WAS 13 when this tune came out and I remember them playing it on MTV. I thought they sounded like Zeppelin meets Supertramp. Still sounds great. Had forgotten about this tune.

  • ZEBRA is the BEST band to cover ZEP and RUSH

    THEY GOT REALLY in 2-it!!!!!

    paul Bonham mavrakis

  • @mystras100 your right and i l

    ove zebra

  • god bless the aryan race,,,

  • Am I the only woman that wishes that guys would wear their hair long again?

Seems when they started wearing it short/shaved, they lost all of their creativity.

  • @longsexylegs HEY! Some of us guys are still here with hair! Personally, I will NEVER conform to fashion or the norm. Let me know if you ever wanna' share a blow dryer sometime. LOL

  • @whatismacharisma Keep it long, I love guys with long hair, never would date a guy with short/bald head. Ugh!

  • I heard this the other night on C2C. Great song!

  • Heard this the other day & was totally blown away-again. Forgot how MUCH i used to absolutely LOVE this song. Can't get it out of my head now!!!!

  • the best one hit wonder ever

  • @Crimzoid21

not to be an as but have you NOT heard , Tell Me What You Want--Zebra ?

Hellooooooooo Ok a 2 hit wonder ... Timeless voice and music here ~

  • @apatheticempathy I have, but thats not really the style I like, I like the progressive side of rock most.

  • I was at their original public appearance in 1975 at, I believe St. Christopher's on Bonnabel Blvd. Metairie, La. They're a tremandous live performance band.

  • zebra is an incredible, underated band.i love there tone, really cool music.

  • One of the greatest rock songs of all time...

  • He was cute back then and he is still cute

  • great song...its too bad they only ended up being very little known...most likely because they came a bit late to the AOR / Arena Rock party.

  • They were "little known" simply because they just stopped. Had they kept going with the talent they had.....it would have been realllly different.

  • Thanks guys (Zebra). I will drink one for you. They're even better "live". Yep.

  • @Drink14You, you bet your ass! Best show I ever saw was Zebra at the Network (outside Baltimore) in '88!!! I've still got one of Randy's picks that I caught after the show. (Okay, it's tied for best with B.O.C. when I saw 'em in Grand Pumption in '01).

  • @SgtCrom Rock on, SgtCrom. Live shows are great for the party atmosphere. Studio recordings are great for clarity. Rock on, SgtCrom! I'll rock on while I drink one for you. Hope ya like whiskey. White label worlds finest bourbon goes great w/ good music.

  • i just discovered zebra and heard +seen this video for the first time and i absolutely love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! original music and original videoclip, just amazing stuff

  • John 14:6

  • in the 70's these dudes were god in metairie and n'awlins the drummer used to be friends with my brother seems like 5 minutes ago I now that songs like these are whats made up of worth while memories, thanks Randy

  • They toured all over Long Island New York - just AWESOME ! Hey Randy call my cousin Don "GHOST" . Peace !

  • Fabulous.

  • The video sucks but, this song kicks ass.

  • this song has a haunting dream-like quality

  • This is one of the greatest band that unfortunatelly was under rated for those who claim to be experts in music. They made the TOP 50 list of the Greatest Bands EVER

  • the good side.

  • I recall seeing these guys for a buck cover charge in New Orleans during my days at LSU. Always delivered.

  • ufo's, masonic checkerboard, the twins? this is NWO, but which side?

  • Still have this album from 1983. This was an excellent band!

  • I'd forgotten how good this tune is.

  • they still these cds in japan special order!

  • Here we have the sound of a thousand whistling shrimp...

  • why can't i go back in time where i was smoking weed in 1981 watching this on my console tv on mtv when mtv was the f-ing bomb, martha quinn was the hottest babe on tv

  • Hey musikaproject, thanks will have to check that out.

  • I think their first album is among the best complete albums of all time....not too often ALL the songs on an album are as good as this was. Unfortunate they could never attain that again..... but this album...this song..epic... will remain on the top of my list :)

  • ZEBRA---"WHO'S BEHIND THE DOOR"

  • I'd like to know what planet the 3 idiots that disliked this are from?

  • @risky725 they must be from beiber-world.

  • @risky725 i wouldn't be surprised if they were three douchebag rappers

  • Does any one know if this still available on cd at all,and from were?

  • @Boomer3604 Hey there...here ya go :)

  • @Boomer3604

search AMAZON ...it's there..wouldnt let me put the link here

  • I had forgotten all about this song. Thanks to the person who posted it.

  • I loved you guys! Great memories!

  • Yay Scooby!

  • THANK YOU!!! I loved this song so much, but could not remember who performed it.

  • scooby - nicely done. I'd hate to see a great piece of music like this go unnoticed. Or worse, forgotten.

    Zebra rocks!!!!

  • Zebra SPEAKS Island Park, On the Island.

  • @CAJET6 Detective did the theme song 4 Speaks "THE BIGGEST THE BEST SPEAKS" !!!!

  • one of the greatest lost bands of alltime

  • And @pal756, you are absolutley right back when MTV came out in the 80's and played great videos, this song was the first video I watched, aqwesome band and awesome song, back in the day they played this video, and Why Me?, Don't pay the Faerryman, You got lucky babe, I ran, and all the 80's stuff , the good ole days of MTV

  • He actually had a problem with his vocal chords from what i remember, an accident or it got smashed or something and it created his unique falsetto...supposedly I can't deny nor confirm it, but it is what I read back in the early 80's

  • I been looking fer this song for a very long time!!..I can not believe it's here of all places!!

  • IS THAT BARRY GIBB COMING IN WITH THE FALSETTO? jUST KIDDING.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

  • Here's a testament to this song: 'just read every comment and there's really no negative comments. That NEVER happens on YouTube. Just goes to show how profoundly powerful and moving this song is. :)

  • This song holds The Truth...so beautiful. If more people took the time to ask and search for the answer to this question--"Who's Behind the Door"--people would find true happiness and would revere and love life, rather than wasting it by loving money, believing their egoes, and hurting others...plus--all fear would subside.

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now, but I'm just saying this song is timeless, beautiful, and awe-inspiring. Thank you, Zebra: this song kicks some major @ss!

  • One of the few albums that EVERY song was great!!!! I live in New Orleans and Zebra still kicks ass in concert till this day.

  • What an incredible note carry!! Gotta hurt the vocal chords.

  • This, my friends, is the 80's

  • very under rated , i asked a radio station not to long ago to play these guys , his remark was : im not here to promote new music , this song came out like around 1980 i told him , he said ; exactly i aint in the buisness of promoting worthless music , i called his boss and told him what he said , he couldnt believe it , his very words were will fix him 10 minutes or so later he was promoting music and has been every since , this is a fine piece of music!

  • @scoobydoabccba123 thats why radio is becoming obsolete now you can listen to music station over the net like with winamp and other progs now radio cant dictate to the masses what can and cant be heard

  • @scoobydoabccba123 rezpect!

  • @scoobydoabccba123 What a great comment! I can't even believe it, 'worthless music...' Zebra... Really???

  • @scoobydoabccba123 you got it on the nose, such an underrated song; my parents listened to Zebra, and they passed it on to me. I asked my friend if he'd ever heard of them, and he thought I was talking about a SINGING ANIMAL... they should get a lot more respect

  • @scoobydoabccba123

"You have great taste in music...no matter what anyone thinks...!"

  • @scoobydoabccba123 The music was only "worthless" because it has meaning to it. The entertainment industry as a whole is getting ridiculously superficial.

  • @Mightymopar1973 Yeah not pop enough to be commercially successful. Just look at RUSH who almost didn't survive because their third album didn't sell enough copies so they said F it, and made 2112 which the music industry hated, but he fans loved. I only wish Zebra had just gotten a chance before RAP and the white version of RAP (first Warrant, Poison, and later Death Metal) became the place all the Music Industry Budgets were directed toward. i guess we have MTV to thank for that...

  • @egcroan Yeah, that's what happens when you're trying to appeal to fickle 12-14 yr old girls - that's the music industry, I believe.

  • Were animals In a zoo! They watch us all......There only here to make shure we dont trip and fall

  • Thank you for posting the history of Zebra. When I was in U.S.A.F. I wore out the cassette tape due to playing it non-stop. Can't wait to see them in concert.

  • @letfingerswalk You was in the Air Force,so was I.I was at Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas when this song came out.

  • @quarqill I was stationed at Tinker AFB, OK. (Midwest City). Did you make a career with U.S.A.F.? I'll drag my wife to this concert, if I have to! LOL! Just have to find out when and where. How about you?

  • Crap! Missed that one. When will they be in Texas, or is that as close as they will get? Had I would have taken off to see them!

  • Going see them tonight at the VOICE OF THE WETLANDS concert in Houma, LA!

Seen them many times and they just keep getting better!!

  • It's a very dated video, but it's awesomeness nonetheless. This song is about aliens or some sort of god out there watching us. I dig the sped up ending fade out. Rock on boys! Retro is alive and well!

  • 35 years before their time, "Living Ledgends"

  • Comment removed

  • ZEBRA "Who's Behind The Door?"

  • i agree they didnt get the reconition they deserve, they were a great band , wondered where they are now

  • @yournightmareify They are still touring! Playing tonight in Houma, LA! Felix was very ill some years back, I hear, and they didn't expect him to live long but now he's recovered and Zebra is back and better than before!

  • Great LP.

    EVERY SONG IS GREAT.

  • If music like this ever came back the world would be such a cooler place.

  • Saw Zebra here in good ol' dusty Abilene, Tx and they were the best band in the lineup that night~~~As I recall , member's of LED ZEPPELIN were quoted as saying yeah, great sound, especially John Paul Jones{John Baldwin}.

  • This album was very good. Too bad they made rock stardom, much like Shooting Star.

  • Comment removed

  • I hear a lot of Led Zeppelin in their music. Great song!!!

  • This was back in the day when MTV actually played music!

  • @pal756 Yep... before it became BET Jr.

  • @usmcsdi69 I hate to say it, but you are correct.

  • @pal756 MTV needs to hand off the "video awards " to you tube or google cause they sure as hell dont play any!!

  • @pal756DONT READ THIS CUZ IT ACCUALLY WORKS.YOU WILL GET KISSED ON THE NEAREST POSSIBLE FRIDAY FROM THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE.TOMARROW WILL BE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE. HOWEVER IF YOU DONT POST THIS TO OVER 3 VIDEOS YOU WILL DIE WITHIN 2 DAYS NOW THAT YOU STARTED READING THIS DONT STOP.THIS IS SO SCARY! • Zebra rocks!

  • What was the name of their second album. I can't remember what it was. It had a couple songs on it I liked.

  • @pal756 "No Telling Lies"

  • @coonass2012 Yes. It took me awhile but I did remember the album. Are they really still performing? Would love to see them.

  • @pal756 Yes, They played last night in Houma, La.

  • Love this video fom the early eighties. If we had only known how big computrer technology would have been in our lives nearly twenty years later. Love those old computers in the video (probably attached to a mainframe as just a terminal). Guess what, we are coming full circle. Our IT deparment wants to use "virtual machines" (just like a Mainframe system). I had to laugh, we have truly come full circle and haven't accomplished a damned thing!

  • Every song on this album rocks.

  • I remember playing my drums to this off a cassette in '81 ish. I played it OVER and OVER because it's such a GREAT song!

  • Awesome. I'm 41 so I grew up with this music. Great video (original I think). That was back when MTV kicked ass instead of just being a big "black hole" creating a sucking sound! Some things change, others do not. Great music. Thanks.

  • Awesome tune!! Still...

  • Someone walked off with my Zebra CD

They play south Louisiana clubs and festivals - I always miss them for some reason or another.

They were in Morgan City LA for the 75th Shrimp and Petroleum Festival. I was in New Orleans. Missed them -- AGAIN!

I will see these guys play B4 I croak -- it is on my bucket list...

  • wore out 3 cassettes of this band

  • One of the best rock songs ever. As a matter of fact, the whole album rocks! Perhaps the most underrated band ever.

  • Miss the 80's music...Best ever !!

  • Funny lil band that was almost famous? They weren't lacking talent. I never understood why they weren't bigger than they were. They always reminded me a bit like Triumph. Even the singers were similar.

  • Rick Emmet could step in and sing this.

  • I heard the name came from a picture of a woman riding a Zebra. The picture was the cover of a Vogue magazine, on the wall in a New Orleans bar.

  • When I first heard this song in the 80's, I was mesmerized.

It's beautiful. And all the classic rock music I now listen too NEVER play this song.

But they wear out Bob Seger and CCR!!

  • Awesome, Gosh this brings back memories...Thank you for taking the time to do this for us!!

  • Saw Zebra live during this alnums tour. I think they were opening for Asia. No matter what has happened to their career they should be very proud of this song and "Tell me what you want". If thats all they contributed then they were a success.

  • ?!?!?!? Queensryche???? Sorry man don't hear it, but I definitely hear Zeppelin. Queensryche wasn't even out by then.

  • One the best songs that I have heard in a long time. miss the 80's

  • I like how the song starts out slow and acoustic and builds up to an explosive finale! He can really hit the high notes!

  • Queensryche does not sound like Zebra. Hilarious.

    30 year zebra metal fan.

  • good post almost forgot about this one!!

  • LOVE that 12 string ! AWESOME TUNE!

  • one of the best 80's songs ever!! not hugely known because of its lack of airplay.

  • Good FNNN tune!

  • My favorite song!

  • God I love this damn song.

And this is the first time I've heard it.

  • this is timeless piece of art that was an era that i will cherish forever zebra had a big time chance with this tune but something happened and they faded to black i wish i knew what happened to them love zebra always PEACE TO ALL!!

  • Was told about this band from another video. Likey.

  • GREAT JAM, REMINDS ME OF TESLA, WISH THEY MADE MORE MUSIC LIKE THIS!

  • I come back to this video constantly. LOVE IT. Thanks for sharing

  • Sounds better than my cassette, lol, never could find a great...thanks :)

  • this band had so much talent , what happened? this was a great album

  • YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....

  • Queensryche?? I'm not hearing that. I know that Zebra opened for Queensryche in Seattle the first time The Ryche ever took the stage. That was something like 82-83.

I played this cassette over and over. I think I bought the cassette 3 times cause I wore it out crusin.

  • yeah, this song brings back memories. Definate Led Zeppelin influance. yeah, coup i guess supertramp too. but mainly Zeppelin "that's the way" nice 80's song since all that happened with Zeppelin at the time. you can bar an "A" chord 002220 and go to 005550 - 004440... 007770-005550 ... 007770-004440 G-string 5-4 and back to A chord for the 2nd part. . one of the first things i learned back then. lol

  • Who are the 2 sad people who voted thumbs down to this masterpiece?

Funny thing how life works out- when I was 17 and these guys first hit, I would have bet ANYTHING they were going to rule the world. Always loved Zebra!

  • @ThickAzABrick No shit! How could one not like this song? Pure poetry.

  • they should be a lot bigger than a couple minor hits. This song and tell me what you want should be major hits.

  • ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • Love Zebra!

  • love my band!

  • Ive listened to this song like 4 times in a row. I love it.

  • Comment removed

  • I think Zebra never made it big because of their name and marketing. The name wasn't "cool" and they never got that BIG PUSH the record label IMO. I love their sound and the self titled album from 83(?), well let me say there isn't a bad song on it.

  • @dustyflair i agree
