As Flounder sez in "Animal House": Is this great or what?
Randy Jackson's aping of Robert Plant's falsetto voice was dismissed back in the day but listening to it now makes me smile. But I sure don't remember this video. Not exactly a good one although in those days there were plenty of stinkeroos done even by good bands.
@fligemon what are you kidding?what kind of videos do you like? i especially liked this video, its a perfect match for this music and easily is better than ANY musicvideo from the last 17 or so years...
given the 80s were the best decade for musicvideos this is still above average even for this decade
@bombboykid People vote it down because they're stupid and have no taste in music. Remember people actually like Rebecca Black, Limp Bizkit and Nickelback. Some people are just fundamentally fucking stupid.
@bombboykid I WAS 13 when this tune came out and I remember them playing it on MTV. I thought they sounded like Zeppelin meets Supertramp. Still sounds great. Had forgotten about this tune.

And @pal756, you are absolutley right back when MTV came out in the 80's and played great videos, this song was the first video I watched, aqwesome band and awesome song, back in the day they played this video, and Why Me?, Don't pay the Faerryman, You got lucky babe, I ran, and all the 80's stuff , the good ole days of MTV
He actually had a problem with his vocal chords from what i remember, an accident or it got smashed or something and it created his unique falsetto...supposedly I can't deny nor confirm it, but it is what I read back in the early 80's

This song holds The Truth...so beautiful. If more people took the time to ask and search for the answer to this question--"Who's Behind the Door"--people would find true happiness and would revere and love life, rather than wasting it by loving money, believing their egoes, and hurting others...plus--all fear would subside.
Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now, but I'm just saying this song is timeless, beautiful, and awe-inspiring. Thank you, Zebra: this song kicks some major @ss!

Love this video fom the early eighties. If we had only known how big computrer technology would have been in our lives nearly twenty years later. Love those old computers in the video (probably attached to a mainframe as just a terminal). Guess what, we are coming full circle. Our IT deparment wants to use "virtual machines" (just like a Mainframe system). I had to laugh, we have truly come full circle and haven't accomplished a damned thing!
Awesome. I'm 41 so I grew up with this music. Great video (original I think). That was back when MTV kicked ass instead of just being a big "black hole" creating a sucking sound! Some things change, others do not. Great music. Thanks.
Funny lil band that was almost famous? They weren't lacking talent. I never understood why they weren't bigger than they were. They always reminded me a bit like Triumph. Even the singers were similar.
Saw Zebra live during this alnums tour. I think they were opening for Asia. No matter what has happened to their career they should be very proud of this song and "Tell me what you want". If thats all they contributed then they were a success.
this is timeless piece of art that was an era that i will cherish forever zebra had a big time chance with this tune but something happened and they faded to black i wish i knew what happened to them love zebra always PEACE TO ALL!!
Queensryche?? I'm not hearing that. I know that Zebra opened for Queensryche in Seattle the first time The Ryche ever took the stage. That was something like 82-83.
I played this cassette over and over. I think I bought the cassette 3 times cause I wore it out crusin.
yeah, this song brings back memories. Definate Led Zeppelin influance. yeah, coup i guess supertramp too. but mainly Zeppelin "that's the way" nice 80's song since all that happened with Zeppelin at the time. you can bar an "A" chord 002220 and go to 005550 - 004440... 007770-005550 ... 007770-004440 G-string 5-4 and back to A chord for the 2nd part. . one of the first things i learned back then. lol
Who are the 2 sad people who voted thumbs down to this masterpiece?
Funny thing how life works out- when I was 17 and these guys first hit, I would have bet ANYTHING they were going to rule the world. Always loved Zebra!
I think Zebra never made it big because of their name and marketing. The name wasn't "cool" and they never got that BIG PUSH the record label IMO. I love their sound and the self titled album from 83(?), well let me say there isn't a bad song on it.
Only true hard core 80's people probably remember Zebra..excellent !

@coonass2012 Yes. It took me awhile but I did remember the album. Are they really still performing? Would love to see them.

I remember playing my drums to this off a cassette in '81 ish. I played it OVER and OVER because it's such a GREAT song!

Awesome. I'm 41 so I grew up with this music. Great video (original I think). That was back when MTV kicked ass instead of just being a big "black hole" creating a sucking sound! Some things change, others do not. Great music. Thanks.

Someone walked off with my Zebra CD
They play south Louisiana clubs and festivals - I always miss them for some reason or another.
They were in Morgan City LA for the 75th Shrimp and Petroleum Festival. I was in New Orleans. Missed them -- AGAIN!
I will see these guys play B4 I croak -- it is on my bucket list...

One of the best rock songs ever. As a matter of fact, the whole album rocks! Perhaps the most underrated band ever.

Miss the 80's music...Best ever !!

Funny lil band that was almost famous? They weren't lacking talent. I never understood why they weren't bigger than they were. They always reminded me a bit like Triumph. Even the singers were similar.

Rick Emmet could step in and sing this.

I heard the name came from a picture of a woman riding a Zebra. The picture was the cover of a Vogue magazine, on the wall in a New Orleans bar.

When I first heard this song in the 80's, I was mesmerized.
It's beautiful. And all the classic rock music I now listen too NEVER play this song.
But they wear out Bob Seger and CCR!!

Saw Zebra live during this alnums tour. I think they were opening for Asia. No matter what has happened to their career they should be very proud of this song and "Tell me what you want". If thats all they contributed then they were a success.

?!?!?!? Queensryche???? Sorry man don't hear it, but I definitely hear Zeppelin. Queensryche wasn't even out by then.

I like how the song starts out slow and acoustic and builds up to an explosive finale! He can really hit the high notes!

Queensryche does not sound like Zebra. Hilarious.

@ThickAzABrick No shit! How could one not like this song? Pure poetry.

they should be a lot bigger than a couple minor hits. This song and tell me what you want should be major hits.

I think Zebra never made it big because of their name and marketing. The name wasn't "cool" and they never got that BIG PUSH the record label IMO. I love their sound and the self titled album from 83(?), well let me say there isn't a bad song on it.
