It would sound better if ya turned the music on higher. I so badly want to get a drum set. I have gone to guitar center to play a little. But you are 100x better than me! Love this Zeppelin tune very much. bonham was the greatest drummer. Neil Peart would sound better if he was playing Zeppelin Stuff. Hope ya get into a BAND SOMEDAY! God Bless!
Nailed it! Hard to tell how old you are from your vid, but you seem young. Anyways, it's great seeing the next generation of great drummers playing with Bonzo. In 200 years Led Zep will be just as famous as Motzart is today!
yeah the second bass drum hit is after the double snare hits in the main 9/8 groove (the & of 1) - where the groove starts... bonzoleum has a great vid on it if you want, and the turn arounds are wrong from the 5/8 back into the groove, it starts immediately into the double snare double bass part i was talking about, but instead of a hi-hat bark its a hit on the crash... whew, there is one other thing (in the 9/8 there's more 16ths on the hats, but I do don't do them so I won't bitch about that
Yeah, that one tiny note adds so much drive and funk to the song. I wouldn't have known exactly what was missing until you pointed it out. But nonetheless, good job; I know that it can be especially hard to keep time on drums while listening to a recording because sometimes it's drowned out...
@Jul1592@jimihendrixtribute No no no no! 9/8 is specific to 3x3 beats (i.e. compound triple time), implying an equal meter. this doesn't occur here - the '9/8' section is actually either 4/4 4/4 1/4 or 4/4 5/4 - this is apparent in the verses, whilst the chorus has 7x4/4s followed by a 5/4. Excellent job with the drumming - whatever the time signature(s).
@Jul1592 I know of all the hassles of recording this song on the drums trust me it took like 2 hours to get mine. from the crazy beats to the hectic time signature breaks.
there's a triplet played on the double kick from count 5-7. why cant a find a video with the triplet!!!?

Awesome cover man! It's pretty hard to do from the get-go, but try adding a second kick after the doublestroke on the snare. Again, good job!

I got the Led Zep drumming book and they transcribe it as in 9/8 to 4/4, and it has one measure of 3/4 going back into 9/8
Green34Destiny9 11 months ago
Great job. I think there is a slight miss on the bass drum and hi hat. You got the parts down perfectly.

No, "The Ocean" goes from 4/4 time to 7/8 time on the verses and just 4/4 time on the choruses.
