Honestly, this song is his masterpiece. Should go down in the rock pantheon alongside Sunshine of Your Love and Purple Haze, just all those cliche classics, and this must go there.

i saw him do an acoustic version of this with mick playing guitar and nick playing piano, it was fucking ace, i prefer that version to the full band version (nick plays the little solo type thing on piano and it sounds really nice and clean, but then again the dirtiness is what gives it its charm)

Nick Cave is not alone. I drink your Milkshake - Nick still have a great band suporting him. But his lyrics sucks. Songs like The Mercy Seat seams like a very faraway possibiliti to be written again. Hes lyrics are just quite good. This one for instance looks like a Cabare show. Blixa maybe have had his reasons to say goodbye...
