  • Mitzi had more talent in her little finger than poor Marilyn, Mitzi has class , what was there to be jealous about, Mitzi was happily married for 52 years, and went on to be an icon, top female earner in Vegas, a multi millionairess, poor Marilyn let herself be used, and died nearly penniless God Bless Her

  • Thank you, dear, for the beautiful music and lovely pictures. They are pure joy to listen and see!!!You have wonderful musical taste and sense for the real beauty!

  • Thank you Claudia! More Mitzi Gaynor next week! (I recommend 'South Pacific' if you like music, gorgeous scenery, and romance).

  • basilnelson: Yes, have seen this amazing woman in "South Pacific" many times. I have to think her greatest performances were in the TV production of her "Razzle Dazzle: The Special Years" ('60's & 70's)! Talk about showcasing her talent, gorgeous scenery & even more gorgeous costumes (Bob Mackey?)!

She even appeared 'live' & I was totally awed by her beauty & spirit (yep - found out it was recorded b/4 her hubby died in 2004! Could *not* believe that @ 70+ yrs she still looked so great!

  • Living in the UK we missed out on a lot of the great American television shows featuring the Hollywood Stars in their later careers.(Ann Sothern was another). We did get Lucille Ball, Loretta Young, William Bendix and several others.

  • Ive never seen South Pacific, but i have seen her There's No Business Like Showbusiness, and she was a sensational dancer, so talented, her and Donald O'Connor together were magic. It's nice to see a tribute made about a lady so talented, and so underrated. And made so well!! The music and photos go lovely together, especially the photo at 5:32. Great job Baz!

  • MonroeSmile: Hafta agree w/ U re Gaynor's performance in 'There's No Business Like Showbusiness" w/ greats such as Donald O'Conner, Ethel Merman,Dan Dailey & Marilyn Monroe - tho' Gaynor(in interviews) thought little of Marilyn Monroe's diletannish attitude.

  • well im sorry, i know Marilyn wasnt a trained dancer or anything like Gaynor, but she was a real star who you always noticed when she was onscreen, Gaynor didnt have that. Sense jealousy there from Gaynor, im surprised

  • MonroeSmile: Sorry I wasn't clear re Gaynor's opinion re Marilyn. Mitzi's main complaint was re Monroe's very often lateness on the set causing delays for the rest of the cast & crew. And, you're probably correct - Gaynor could well have been jealous of Monroe's "star" power.
