The pages of a book are printed separately in multiple signatures which first have to be combined together correctly in the right order for folding, trimming and binding. And then combined with the cover which is printed separately and attached later. If I have a bunch of anonymous sheets of text, how do I make sure they go together AND get the right cover applied?

Most books are assembled by machines and computers nowadays in a fairly fully-automated process. Similar technology has been used by the USPS to sort mail for decades already.
