  • Well said ! Thank for posting !

  • MAKE NO MISTAKE their strategy - NPR masks their ultra-liberal political agenda with music and programs conservatives like. This IS a deliberate strategy as they are targeting conservatives with their liberal hype. We need a conservative radio station that plays classical, folk, bluegrass, celtic music. NPR is the only one and they use it to target conservatives with their liberalism.

  • ockteby: We are in complete agreement on this. Certainly there are liberal views broadcast on NPR, but conservative views are represented as well. For instance, All Things Considered did a series last year on "Rising Stars of the GOP." I find all views on NPR. I don't agree with them all. But they're all there. And that's what's important.

  • I think i will stick with alex jones.

  • I think looking or should I say listening to all sides of an issue, be it a conservative ,liberal, moderate or any view point is the best way to be informed. You can't describe an elephant by just looking at it's ear, you need to step back and get the big picture.

    Peace

  • @photolitherland

Heh not really. Fox just CLAIMS to be fair a balanced while they clearly AREN'T!

    Msnbc pushes Obama

    and so does CNN

Fox goes against Obama but claim to be "fair".

  • NPR is an elitist whiteboy network, even wrose can somebody agree with me to say that Michelle Norris should be fired. I think they fiddle with their equipment, I challege NPR to record on Neumann TLM 102 without pre amp and gadgets, got the balls?

  • Yo, homie. I'm not white, and I got to say orale to NPR.

  • Ockteby sounds like an good, old-fashioned traditional conservative---Very different from the neoliberals/neocons who now dominate American politics.

Old-fashioned conservatives respected science & logic, have compassion, and don't robotically disagree with liberals on EVERYTHING, as do the modern neocons, who hate science (because it contradicts the "reality" they create),hate the public sector with a passion, and prefer America to act as an empire, rather than a moral leader, among nations.

  • I agree! CNN has become more like Fox these days with too much drama and not enough substance. They need ratings. With NPR is great because it is not commercial & shows all point of views. It is the last vestige of great Amercian public radio. Love it! I agree.

  • As a Liberal, this actually warms my heart :)

  • I can't find any other news source (on radio or otherwise) that's more informative and neutral about IMPORTANT topics than NPR.

How much more do the other organizations have to remind us about Sarah Palin's book?

  • i like to get my news from a variety of news channels in order to stay neutral and well informed. i listen to fox news to get the conservative view as well as CNN to get get the liberal view then i like to wash it down with NPR to get a some what neutral view. So far its worked out great i feel well informed on key controversial issues.

  • i like this guy he reminds me of my dad

  • Yea and he makes sense too.

  • He reminds me of my grandpa, you know, the type when you go over to say hello real quick but they talk to you for hours and won't let you leave....!

  • I, too, take in both FoxNews AND National Public Radio. I am a member of my local NPR station, in fact. I will say, though, that anyone who dismisses FoxNews as "Faux News" clearly has an ulterior agenda.

  • I have to disagree, I see Fox News as "Faux News" - the entertainment news channel - and I don't have an ulterior agenda, however, I respect your opinion and am with you all the way with NPR.

  • For every "Faux News" charge, there is an equal "MSDNC" charge.

  • NPR is propaganda. I know they have some great features but they push a left/ liberal agenda. Pay no attention to this guy behind the curtain. This is an old liberal trick. State that you are a conservative and then rant against conservative principles. This guy is a clown and I hope he reads and replys to my comments. Show where I'm wrong. We don't need to kill off NPR just remove the Taxpayer subsidies. If so many love it, then it will survive on it's own.

  • Wow... juscurious... you are one paranoid puppy.

  • Its not propaganda you idiot, its the truth being told and apparently you can't handle it. Next you'll be saying "Fox News is the greatest and Bill O'reilly is intellignet"!

  • NPR maybe slightly left-wing, but its the closest thing to fair and balanced you are going to get.

  • As a Libertarian Conservative, I like how NPR is overwhelmingly supported by private donations, including at the listener level with it's small affiliate stations. Not only that, but NPR is also among the cleanest, most family-friendly news organizations in terms of not having smut, or celebrety/taboid "news" as a part of their programming.

  • What do you guys think of npr's website?

  • Excellent

  • Well, well, well, it looks like Frank and Caroline have something else in common. I really enjoy "This American Life" program. I load them onto my ipod and listen while exercising or lounging. They do such an excellent job putting those stories together.

  • Lots of conservatives are missing out on some excellent programming because they believe the negative hype against NPR.

    Frank

  • I like listening to BBC Radio on the midnight program on my local MPR(Minnesota Public Radio) station, to get the foreign prespective. You may be right about it being liberal, but that's nothing compared to AirAmerica Radio which is much more polarizing for conservatives. My all time favorite thing on the radio is hearing the local MN Twins baseball broadcast on am1500 KSTP. I bet you wouldn't mind if NPR played some Turkish folk music once in a while if you know what I mean :)

  • About 57 years ago I would string wire all over my room and connect it to a tube radio. Short wave broadcast came in from all over the world. I eventually built a short wave Heath kit radio.

When I was in Turkey in the early 60s short wave radio was my connection to the world. Radio Moscow, Voice of America, and others. O how times have changed.

    Frank

  • You should enjoy it. Most of NPR is funded by tax payer money. I guess that would be OK if Pat Buchanan, had a program on this network. On second thought it is not OK. Programs should survive or fail based on the market place. It seems we are on the fast track for the government owning, banks, homes, car companies. NPR and freddy/fannie mack was the start of a road most of us do not want.

  • I basically agree with you. I like Pat Buchanan and contributed money to his presidential campaign.

    Frank

  • I must disagree if only on the NPR portion. Simply because NPR is: 1 supported not by tax payers money but private donations. 2 they do not advertise in the manner of commercials (if they recieve donations and respond in kind noting say GM or someone of donations it is not the same) and of course 3. NPR is one of the few networks I know of which report an issue without adding any kind of spin on it. Compared to CNN msnbc or fox news, this is a welcome relief.

  • Im not sure that is correct. I think most funds are tax payer money. But I dont have the stats to say for certain. I think the real question is way one dime of tax money should fund NPR. NPR should be in the free market and succeed or fail based on it marit. If the radio is good then it should be able to survive without my money.

  • I believe that it is in fact donations as I have been making regular contributions during their donations fund raiser for the past 3 years. Furthermore, most of what keeps NPR on the air is its merit as a journalist news source. To keep this short you can listen in and then hear "Listener supported" and even the most cursory glance at their pages will reveal this. If we left NPR to the free market they would become little more than fox cnn and msnbc type news outlets...which I don't want...

  • Then pay more for it, it is not something I use or need or should be taxed for.

  • lol. Unfortunatly I cannot pay more for it right now as I only make 30 grand. Furthermore, I went back and did another search and 1/3rd of their funding comes from government grants. Which, all major news media recieve as an incentive to continue broadcasting news. When I get out and secure a better job, I will make a higher contribution though. One last thing. Of the people being taxed, only those making 150k a year are paying anything for it. everyone else isnt. same with income taxes...

  • Fair enough.

  • also, just cause I am a blabbermouth, You might actually find its programming worth note. a recent survey done by University of maryland found that NPR is more likely than say MSNBC and FOX to get facts right. In fact on 3 major issues NPR users were more likely to get them right. with only 23% mistaking on issues. 80% of fox viewers made at least 1 major news misconception. But, if you do not like NPR, then thats fine. I am stoked about NPR though, I like its programming and news.

  • Sounds like a program who could make real profits. I wish you the best. I liked frick and frack, but short of hearing about a product I might like (commercial) I wont pay for it. I suggest you hang on to you money. You might need it.

  • @danschaoticmind HOW on earth can you say NPR reports something without putting a spin on it???? NPR is hard left and liberal to the max.

  • @blumenthol Well the fact that they present both sides of an issue at controversy and give them equal airtime. They do not have commentators who assert only one side (I'm thinking Glenn Beck here) but time and time again they have been found to present accurate news information. As compared to the number of mistakes that Fox and CNN have made in regards to such issues at controversy as don't ask don't tell, Iraq War lead up, and investigations of things such as the economic meltdown.

  • I think I share your opinion on NPR, Frank.

When it comes to radio there are but a very

few stations I will listen to. NPR is first

pick, then maybe 2 others. Sports & Rock noise does not interest me. There used to be easy listening stations galore on FM. Now the

closest you can get is a couple of classicals

& maybe a jazz station or two. Anyway, thanks for posting. Have a good one!
