They are trying to rewrite Lara's past, change her style into more girllish & kawaii (means young & cute) one, and prolly add a male sidekick who will eventually replace Lara as the main character (Most asians, especially the Japanese, believe that females are weaklings and should obey males' orders)
I hated AoD. Leave aside the crappy gameplay, the locations sucked, I think Lara raided a grand total of one tomb? And the only thing that was good for was swan diving her to death. I also hated the idea that Kurtis was anymore than a partner to her, and the fact that you could play as him? It's Lara Croft tomb raider for gods sake! Anyways, that is just my opinion.
@Dannishadows Angel of Darkness wasn't a big let down. I don't know why everybody think that way. AOD was a great game, great storyline good graphics only the controls and some glitches were the problem. Crystal Dynamics were a big let down and how they changed the entire game and if this is true it's not going to be very good either.
In a reply to your reply ;) I agree totally. I think angel of darkness had the best storyline of all the tombraider games and moved through the levels brilliant. Being a huge Raider fan I got over the clumsy Lara because the game was great. The new ones need to focus less on making people pass them with no skill and add more realistic circumstances and harder ventures as in you have to hold down the grab button for instance or make a PERFECT jump. It made the old ones a pain but such a reward 2.
TRU was amazing to me! i loved it and it wasnt as short as Legend i think the only TR game that sucked was angel of darkness and this looks fake or a different game cause why would lara use a bow? that makes no sense and the horse thing and those shadow creatures have nothing to do with TR so i dont think this is real
Actually as wierd as this seems it's real, Crystal Dynamics/Eidos announced the new TR would reinvigorate interest in the series, and that it will shock. So all I can say is prepared to be shocked or disappointed.

no undrworld is the seaqual to legend anniversary was a remake of TR1 so it doesnt count they made it so TR fans that loved the old games but hated the controlls and loved the new games and loved the controlls could play it
@Dethklok1122 Have you played any of the Metal Gear Solid games? If you have then Underworld will feel much longer. About half of a Metal Gear Solid game is cutscenes.

The only reason why Lara is how she is now, is because more and more gamers nowadays prefer a certain type of genre - in this case, origin games, Crossbow + Arrow combat (in addition to W.O.W) and generally much more tensing and thrilling games.
I'm even sure that Laras character would agree with me on this: the fact that the world is always becoming darker.
Also, it's not necessarily the character that's important in the game, but the actual idea to the game. In other words, the PLOT to it.
Not necessarily. Just because Crystal is adding the horror suspense genres into the equation, doesn't mean it will make Lara a bad game. If anything it could breath new life into her. Also I'm sure Lara will still be jumping around and doing flips to solve puzzles, she'll just have to fight off a few evil looking creatures.

AOD was a great game, great storyline good graphics only the controls and some glitches were the problem.
