This is hilarious - I had this game (along with TV Sports Football) for TG-16 when I was a kid, and my knock on this game that it was too EASY to score.

it's EASY to see how NHL Hockey for the Genesis (EA Hockey for the MegaDrive) copied this game in several ways. It's just that EA did a massively better job.

Considering this game was written in Assembly language and not C or C++, this is actually pretty amazing. All these games were made in Japan years before they were released in the US. It was called "PC-Engine." It was a competitor for The original NES, not the SNES. That's why the hardware couldn't compare to the SNES (Called Famicon and Super Fanicon in Japan).

@horriehomepage Ohya, I know about the PC Engine and even have some the games too. Also this game was released in 1991 so I'm compared to other hockey titles out at that time.

How is this choppy? It's running fine. This game kicked ass. I found a bug in the software actually. There was one time my main guy was behind the other teams net, and the puck went out of bounds so it automatically caused a face off. My guy was automatically supposed to scate over to the face off but the opposing team"s net so he got stuck and I had no choice but to restart the game lol. Still better than blades of steel, and the 5-player ability was not paralleled.

@horriehomepage I guess the game was just too slow for our liking and we are use to playing EA Hockey on the Genesis. Plus like you said there are tons of glitches in the game.

hahah now that I watch the face offs, yeah those are choppy. The fighting was kind of ghetto and choppy but it was still fun :-D The normal game play didn't bother me any more than nintendo controls. My favorite part was when you'd get a penalty for losing the fight haha, then there was a screen that had like 3 people shouting "BOO!!!" To this day my friend and I imitate that whenever we Boo something :-D

This game is the shit if you learn how to master it. The fights are awesome also. You missed out on not fighting

This game is classic and epic. so much fun and has weirdest glitches ever!!! you can score from behind the net and curve the puck!!! haha, so bad details but fun :P

that game looked like it sucked lol! I grew up on the nhlpa hockey series (and before that Ice hockey for NEW)....goood review...you dudes have great canadian accents (thats saying lots cuz im canadian!)

It was pretty crappy but I still played a lot worse like Greztzy Hockey for the NES.
