  • mark sadly passed away Oct 2011 aged 38 :-(

  • I do feel sorry for these people, but I hate that mentality that we owe them something......like he doesn't like to be shrugged off by someone who 'could' give him money......but it's not their fault he's there and it's not their problem either. I bet they would have done the same before they were homeless and now it matters coz it's them?

  • @06tomboi You're never too young.

  • i feel so sorry for them i wish there was something i could do but im to young.

  • @blueiguana27 If you are still doing your research into homelessness in Birmingham then please drop me a line, as I fouded a charity called Homeless Is Still Human (HISH) after being made homeless myself several times in my life (went from being a millionaire businessman to sleeping rough) without ever having a drink or drugs addiction or mental health issues.

  • You should change the color of the subtitles, they're a bit difficult to read.

  • I really feel for people like this; however, a welfare state can never render enough aid to help everyone, deserving of it or otherwise. Much has been written as to the manifold causes of poverty and homelessness, but the individual's abandonment of all hope is what seems to seal one's fate.

  • @floridawolfedogg "a welfare state can never render enough aid to help everyone"....The Australian welfare state is doing a good job. There is much less homelessness. There is plenty of crisis accommodation for the homeless.

  • your chances of becoming homeless under an american government are high, fucking americans should take a page out of CANADAS book, not having proper health care is just one of the thing in USA that can make you homeless, piece of shit bush lovers

  • I wasn't suprised that he had a mental problem... you know.. in the 1950s the government cut funding for institutionalization for people with mental problems.. and thats when the homeless rate skyrocketed... so you might want to think twice when you dismiss a homeless person.. because 9 times out of 10... they cant help it... but the great Arisotle said it best..... "The measure of a civilization is how it treats its weakest members''

  • @FamousEddieFortune :yeah ,you say it good about arisotle:you need big care houses were they can sleep, showers, food etc etc and get help from people...WERE ARE THEY?????????It,s no use to give them money, because the next day they are in the same boot(most of them are addicts and spend it immediatly on drugs or boost.its better to give them food or clothing,or stuff for personall hygiene..I know were i am talking about i have bin homeless for 2 years by meself.for different reasson.

  • "I was born here, brought up here, and don't get no help here." Those words are echoed by most homeless people throughout the country. Legislation in this country needs to change to get all homeless people off of the streets and into safe and secure accomadation.

  • These homeless people and there children, need a second chance to get back on the housing register and be referred . Want to know what grant snapps is doing about this situation.

  • @aidan24100 If I was homeless I would commit a crime to get into prison. But your wrong....We should execute the royal family and give the 700 rooms in buckingham palace and the 1 billion pounds they spend every 25 years on their sausage roll weddings to feed them instead.

  • The little guitar riff is so annoying! There goes a 5 minutes I'll never get back!

  • Excellent intro

  • A serial killer

    Gets 3 meals a day!

    Clean warm bed

    showers

A jailhouse roof over their head!

    A Homeless person

    Can die from the elements

    has nothing!

Do you see a problem w/this?

  • @Godzie1 yes 2 much money in society is going towards caring 4 the wrong types of people stop wasting money feeding cunts who kill hang them eye 4 eye i say then the wasted cash keeping there butts in a cosy jail can be used to do some good

  • @babycat967 The way it looks if by any chance you become destitute & homeless? (God forbid I don't want that to happen)

Commit a horrid crime & you will be taken care of for the rest of your life?

You even get a state paid for attorney at your beck & call.

    (Go figure?)

  • does his mate even have an Ipod?

nah but in all honesty my thoughts go out to the homeless. they need more help.

  • give em all a few quid next time....

  • Please varify your facts. Majority of homeless people are NOT drug addicts. Such a generalization should not be made.

But great video none the less.

  • you dont need to have a adiction to be homless just in regular society no one cares my family practictly disown me for no reason then you go into depresion your to drained to even cope with things i feel sorry for the homless big deal they have problems noone is perfect they just need the right help and a second chance if more people cared they would care about them self more god bless the homeless

  • I feel sorry for all the ppl out there that are like that..The rich get richer because we get off our asses and work for our money to have nice things..Then have to pay for those that sit on their asses and collect food stamps or other while we have to pay for them....alot of those ppl take advantage of the situation when they don't have to.But to those who can't help it "yes" I feel bad.But there is too many panhandlers where I live and don't need to be that way..And it makes me discusted.

  • @loveykaya a lot of the times its not the homeless persons fault. their parents may have been born into poverty and then their children carry the burden. there are homeless out there who are actually trying to do something but sometimes can't do it by them selves

  • great interview. I am writing a short story about the homeless and this has been an invaluable insight. Thank you for making the homeless at least a bit visible, it hurts me very much that so little attention is paid to them in mainstream media.

  • @malutka112 I began a charity called Homeless Is Still Human (HISH) after being homeless myself a few times. It is all about trying to change the way that peopple view homeless people and rough sleepers and making people realise that the homeless are exactly the same as anyone else and it's quite possible that you, yourself, may become homeless within a month (it happened to me).

  • Some people have so much and others so little. My friend Jesse is currently homeless and as winter approaches I worry greatly about him! He is poor as can be. It doesn't hit home until you see your best friend on the streets. This is his channel and I am trying to rally support for him to let him know that there are people out there who do care about him. I just don't know what to do to help him. I ve been documenting his struggles in videos to open the eyes of the world.

    Chad

  • Never give homeless people your money. If they say they need it for food, offer to buy it for them.

  • Poor guy... I hope his life got better after this

  • when there is a crisis the rich people get more money and we the working class have to pay for it.

if we want to protest against all of this we are pushed back.

  • It's terrible. Nobody should be without a home, and basic needs in the 21st century.

  • It's all very sad when you see these homeless guys, and the temptation to give them money is hard to resist. But when you do give them money, all you are doing is paying for their next drink or drug, you are not helping them, you are fuelling their unhappiness. If you do want to give them something, give them actual food, give them a blanket, an old shirt etc, DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY.

  • In all honesty, I hate only the homeless people who smoke. Put that cig away and save your money, dumbass.

  • I enjoyed this video. Please check out mine and subscribe :)

  • Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him. Proverbs 14:31

  • Lots of people are full of booze and drugs every night.....and they have homes and jobs??

So what can you expect if you are sleeping on concrete and freezing every night. I would probably jump on the motorway to finish it all! He is very brave to continue the painful existance.

I enjoy giving to the homeless. Never money, but once my leather jacket and often food.

    Hope life improves for him.

  • @LabRat6619 ur jacket was probaly sold 4 a fix some people choose to live this way the £ he spends on booze in a week cud pay 4 a room 4 him i to now and then give 2 homeless people there 1000s that beg on the st every day hthat are not even homeless there the ones that cause the true homeless needy people to get give 0 and true a lot of people no there money is not going to buy them a meal or a hot drink they dont give it i know a old man who sells big issue he is not homeless makes 300 day

  • @LabRat6619 Sometimes giving a little money might help him/her survive. So what if they spend it on whisky or cigarettes..That helps their stress levels to conquer their living conditions just to survive another long night to the breaking dawn. Then their nightmare continues.

  • This is interesting but Everyone should see the true homelessness of Toronto, Canada In "Concrete Habitat"

  • Chrysler, compuware and a division of compuware called professional services all state no record of my employment.. witness lies under oath..watch my video to pressure them to end this injustice! google: blacklisted engineer to capture my video!

  • When you sees me on tha street give meh a quarter so I cans get drunk!

  • no didn't u hear him hes getting off the drink...

He needs the money for the smokes brah

    poor souls

  • Sadly our system creates homeless, many complex and simple factors involved, the rich taking all, drug n alcohol abuse can be a byproduct of being homeless, not paying your bills is usually because you dont have the cash to do so, everyone is being squeezed dry by a system designed to screw us all over, destroying the nuclear family & it's means of survival, causing family breakdowns and poverty, creating & promoting substance abuse to escape from the misery that is life for many people.

  • people from other countries have first dib's on jobs in the U.S. we barely can git a job being born here . Were being brushed under the carpet . those behind the government breaking it down and us with it . they cause problems for us and point the finger so we fight amongst our selves . WAKE UP AMERICA >>>>

  • just think these people could have been soemeone important but either they did drugs or alchol or just did a fatal mistake like not paying thier debts

  • Whenever my mom gets the chance, she gives homeless people some Burgers and sodas. I know a few of them who walk around the streets. It's really sad.

  • It is devastating to know that the homeless does not get maximum help for thier situtaion. It's heartbreaking.

anyone know the first song in this documentary?

  • Homeless is a product of our greedy, uncaring society. Anyone can become homeless but more likely people from dysfunctional families maybe kicked out at an early age. I've been homeless many times, it's very common these days as properties are used as a weapon like food is in some countries. It's a surreal experience and I live rurally not homeless in city which would be scary, I'm housed the now 4 many years. The rich get richer the poor get poorer, lots of reasons u mite become homeless.

  • soo true greed makes things worse

  • @smmeegal capitalism is the source...Jesus was the original socialist America is evil Jesus would bitch slap them

  • Nice vid, love the use of the song "Talk Show Host"

  • goes 2 prove alchol is worse than weed so the questioned raised y is alchol legal if it leave people in this state

  • have compassion for people who find themselves homeless. They are normal everyday people that due to circumstances or often times mental illness find themselves on the street.god bless them and spare them some change, they don't all run off and buy cigerettes, they need to eat.Don't judge if you don't know the full story, give them a hand, coz their lives are hard enough as is,and who knows one day they may get back on their feet in the traditional sense but let them go their own pace and journey

  • these people need help, why doesn't anyone care?

  • I think people do care, but they don't know what to do. This is a very complex situation. And to be honest, it starts with each of us looking at ourselves. For example., when you ask the question, why doesn't anyone care, ask yourself..what have I done? You care, but have you done anything? It starts with yourself. Only then can we take back our power. Our governments have us totally feeling trapped and helpless. If they can print bail out money, they can help these poor people, no? YES!!!

  • robram818..you obviously don't get the psychology of it all. It is BECAUSE of people like you that nothing changes.

  • Listen chap...I'm the only guy in the States that is at the final stages of releasing a full length doc on the subject of homelessness called "Lost Americans" I never said nobody cares. I just mentioned that CHRONIC homelessness citizens who are able bodied should stop smoking crack and cigarettes and get off of their asses...family homelessness...rural homelessness and chronic homeless with major psych conditions should be the focus....similar to the homeless in our country who live in the

  • First off, I am not a "chap." Secondly, if you were doing a full length documentary, a GOOD one, you would find that MOST of the people living on the street are psychologically impaired and need help. Even the ones that seem "normal" have such deep issues that they are on the street. Get a clue. Who the hell wants to be on the street? No one in their right mind that has a sense of self. So, your documentary obviously doesn't cover the DEEPER issue at hand here. And YOU don't get it either.

  • I worked for five years in a downtown where the homeless were everywhere. Every five feet there was another one. You couldn't walk three feet without being hit up by one. I got to know them, by name. I got to know their stories. I got to see the truth about what put them there, each one slightly different. For you to sit there and assume you KNOW, without knowing THEM, makes you a pompous jerk. Get a heart, get educated, and get out in the field and get to really know them. Don't write me.

  • I'm into speaking with top advocates, .orgs, Phil Mangano - Director of the Interagency Counsel on Homelessness trying to expose some of the flaws in our countries 10 year plan on eliminating homelessness. BTW- Chronic homeless numbers have gone down in the states by 30% in the past 5 years, but because of our weak economy- family homelessness or NEO homelessness numbers are through the mother fucking roof! Listen you tree hugger asshole...I've lived homeless on the street for weeks as a case

  • Nice language. I don't think many "top advocates" are going to want to be talking to you if you keep writing idiotic things about homeless people that need help upstairs. Not to mention, wash your mouth out with soap and get an education. Learn to communicate nicely..."use your words." Child. If this is how you intend to reach the masses, with this attitude, you will fail, no doubt. Don't write again. I blocked you.

  • You're a puss!

  • study for my project.....How about you? Hug a few homeless people, give them a sandwich and then off to your warm dwelling? Get off your bleeding heart bullshit. My sister died on the motherfucken streets at age 36 on drugs and alcohol...so don't try to fucking tell me how to perceive homelessness. I'm trying to get to the bottom of homelessness by following case studies (homeless people) and interviewing top advocates on the scene.

  • In ancient times they were called Shamans.

  • This just breaks my heart...

  • i'm from a small european country. this social and financial crysis effects everyone, but here almost 90% of families have their own house or apartment, a roof over their heads.

in america, when you lose your job..you lose everything.

the difference between traditional way of living here..and a fastfood living in america is now shown.

homeless over the night. if i lose my job..i'll still have a place to live.

  • very good. im from toronto canada and we have alot of homeless too its a fucking shame because they all didnt start that way...

  • the guy comes under the vulnerable persons acts and is entitled to a social worker and a place to live .go to your GP get a notev on mental illness and go to the social services .the law states you must be cared for.Everyone is entitled to a place to live in communist states, so why not capitaliststates.dissolve the class system( white aparthide)take the land back from those who stole it aand share it out

  • good video, cheers

  • Hi

We would like to use this video to raise homelessness awareness within our church - how do we get in touch with you please?

  • Alcohol, heroin addiction and Schizophrenia.

  • The most disturbing part of all these vids on homeless is the condition of their teeth a very important part of health.

For people to think that it will not effect them think againg..look at history..disease knows no social boundries? Good video..

  • i couldnt find a job for the last 2 months so i will live on the street instead tomorrow and get rid of my stuff and i will feel better.see you in portland! i love being buddhist

  • keep filming. everywhere all over the world all kinds of scenarios. Beautiful x

  • Deep inside, most Americans know why people are homeless. And the truth is that most Americans are just a pay check away from homelessness themselves but they would rather deny it, which may TEMPORALLY make them feel better about themselves. It seems denial is better than cure but in the end, every one seems to fall to the same ditch.

    I wonder why?

  • The Song's 'Talk Show Host' by Radiohead

  • this is really good and touching

what song did you use at the end?

  • Nice doc! Please check out my documentary on homeless youth in Phoenix AZ "The Forgotten Population"
