I was wondering how easy it is to find a left handed baitcaster, I've heard there not very common and does that make it more expensive than a right hand.
the black max is a piece of shit it hads 6:1 gear ratio = sucks and has 5 bearings = fail the real is made rly cheap has horrible handgrips and the reel only lasts for about 2 months then will begin to bring problems such as very noisy, and very rough and the spool release with get jammed and the pitchin switch sucks just does pitching worse. This reel sucks. end of story!
@Probassfisherman99 Haha, we are talking about the new one. 6.1 gear ratio is great all around. Not everyone uses a 7.1 for everything, most pros only use that for cranking. The Black Max II is the best reel for under 60 dollars.
@korbel53 Have you ever held the new one? I own a Smoke, an Energy PT, and a Catalyst, and the Black Max stands up to them for being so cheap. Have you even looked at the specs? It has the PowerDisk drag system, which makes the drag extremely smooth. Make a video of your experiences with a reel, but if you dont want to, dont bash a well-machined reel.
@gowolves4 the smoke is way better than the black max smoke has more bbs and a higher gear ratio and isnt made cheap and has better hand grips than the blackmax bye far abu garcia sucks
@korbel53 First of all, you need to learn grammar. Second, for a real under 60 bucks, the Black Max by far beats all other reels in that price range. I never said it beats the Smoke, it doesn't. You are one of those kids that is more concerned about the price of their equipment rather than the quality and performance of it.
@korbel53 I guarantee you have not held the new one in your hands, nor do you own it. It is a great reel for an affordable price. All you are looking at is this price point.
@korbel53 You have said nothing to back up that claim. The Abu Garcia Revos outfish the Energy reels any day. Please do some research before making a stupid claim like you just did.
@gowolves4 we tested them and they suck and there noisy and they fall apart abu garcia reels are pieces of crap so the next time you go get a reel get abu garcia but youll be sorry
@korbel53 haha I bought the Abu Garcia Black Max II the day it came out, I have been using it since. I have used it for frogging and jigs, which abuses a reel the most. I have had to oil it once. It had in no way, shape, or form fallen apart.
Put pressure on the spool itself so that your pulling the loose line out instead of keeping on there. If you put your thumb down on the line it gets built up behind your thumb. I push my thumb nail against the top of the spool.
@getREELed all right. when you get a back lash, tighten your drag all the way up, then push firmly down on the spool with your thumb. while pushing down with your thumb, turn the handle once. then try pulling the line out. your thumb actually frees the tangle. if you want to see a video on this method, look up bassfishincom in the search bar and click on the first video which is titled "trick for clearing backlashes"
@getREELed set your drag to full, lock it up, then hold down the spool with your thumb over the birds nest. then start reeling in, you'll feel the line under your thumb sliding do it for 2-3 cranks free spool and then pull out your line, rinse and repeat, i've use that trick my whole life, i've luckily never had backlash with braid so never tried it with braid but mono its guaranteed to work. easier way of undoing a birds nest =] try it out you'll see
@fisherbois, yes that's an Abu Garcia, black max , left handed real. Never musky fished with one , but its an interesting thought. I wonder how it handles big jerk baits ?
If you do a little research on youtube there is a great video on fixing a baitcaster backlash in half the time. Trust me, I was skeptical...so I tried unraveling a backlash that had been in my reel for over a year and it worked perfect! What you do is set the drag really tight...press your thumb hard down on the entire width of the spool and reel in a couple times. Then press the release button and pull the line until it gets snagged again and repeat the same process again until your done.
do you like that reel?
nice video

It is very easy to find a left handed baitcaster. Bass Pro Shops has left handed versions of almost every one of their reels.
