Its about the fall of man, and their being banished from the garden of eden. Think about it. No its not about love or the end of civilization or waffles. These eyes are blind, this is a pure thing- ignorance before they ate the fruit of knowledge of good and evil. Im only fourteen. Cmon people... Is it that hard to figure out?
(sorry for my english i am french..) but this song remend me my 1st love..i was 15 yrs old, me and my girl friend we go see the movie ..band of the hand..and i kiss her for the 1st time in the cinema..great 80s memory..
I've always had the vague sense that this song is (like much of Oil & Gold) generally about conflict and its consequences. Where Hammerheads is from the point of view of the military, this is from the point of view of the civilian. The "a veil of cloud, correct as energy, we had some good machines, but they don't work no more," makes me think that this might be set in a post-nuclear world where conflict has lead to total destruction (also explaining the blindness, which could be literal).
Where is the video part of this? I know Baz & Co. never released an actual video but...? (Unless you count the Polytechnic concert vidz) - am I missing an image here?
great sound, actually apart from the chorus I think the lyrics are pretty crap, watch out for the greasy men! oooh don't touch me you nasty greasy man....................

This song is probably my second favourite bitter sweet song ever, running a close second to "God Damn the Sun" by the Swans.
