Can you imagine what level he would be at in country music if he were still with us? I'm 56 years old so I can still remember what true country music sounds like. Keith was so true to country music's sound that he kept it around for so many to sample that might not have otherwise ever heard it.
My Brother in law had the honor to play lead guitar for Keith up until Keith's death. I never heard him say a bad word about Keith. Myself along with so many others will truly miss you Keith Whitley.
Im only 21 but damn..i wish i was 20ish back in the 80s i would of loved to seen him play. His songs hit me so deep. Best damn country guitar picking with emotions, and just to think..I live around 30-40 miles from his hometown. God could of spared him a few more years. R.I.P K.W
Thank you for taking the time to stop by and listen to this great duet. Dwight and Keith never got the chance to sing together like this ( it's said they had planned to just before Keith's passing ) and my good friend Sharon, who's a huge Keith Whitley fan, put this song together so she could make this duet happen. Sharon has a great video of this song as well. If you can, stop by her channel...........( MAMsMom97 ) she's all about Keith and his life.
you are Very Welcome, my pleasure. Am a HUGE Longtime Keith fan as well, like I said, and that is a shame they did not get to do that together before Keith passes away so suddenly and sadly... I did watch the video as well, several times previously, well done...
And, lol I am ALREADY a "subscriber" to her channel, lol... glad she's keeping Keith's music and his memory alive for us fellow fans, kudos to her...
wishing you Peace from this countrygal in Delaware...
@ji61m From Belgium , country fan for years , just discovered this fabulous singers and his wife . thanks fro posting . hope i'll find some cd of him . thanks for this splendid music .
Beautiful video. Keith Whitley is the man. I listen to him often. I have many of his cd's. I am 43 and sadly he was gone by the time I really appreciated his music. Thanks for this wonderful video
It's been a great week in Whitleyville, Jim! Not only did Lorrie Morgan and her sister Candy sign the petition, but the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame got 2 new sponsors. The induction will now take place. Keith Whitley will go in #1 as the KMHOF Class of 2009!!!
He's a singer I didn't know much about a year ago. I have a friend Sharon "MaMsMom97" who is one of the biggest Keith Whitley fans around. If you get the chance, stop by and check out her channel. You will not be disappointed! Thank you for looking in.
I had never heard of him until just recently when Denise here on You Tube sent me a video....Just proves modern day tech does have it's uses linking friends from overseas.....Peace to you too.Annette
Awesome, Bro. Keith had the best country voice of all time. Dwight, you shine, too. Keith's legacy will live forever. Was there ever a country singer that connected more with the listener? Patsy Cline might be the only one that comes close. Thanks!
Thank you very much. It was an honor to do a video to this great song that was put together by Sharon (MaMsMom97) who fufilled a lifelong dream of Dwight's, of these two brothers singing together. Although gone since 1989, you can just feel Keith's spirit in this song. I think somewhere, he's smiling as only Keith can.
Jim all your videos are great, this one is so well done and I have never heard of it before, the words are so touching, well done five stars and a big thanks
Thank you Christine. This is a duet featuring Dwight and Keith Whitley. Keith unfortunately passed away in 1989 before he and his brother could sing a duet. My good friend Sharon, put the two versions of this song that both guys did together and created the "Dream Duet". They finally got to realise a long awaited dream of singing together. Please check out sharon's version, just click on the video response below the player. Thank you for watching.
Thank you very much. Were you aware that there are two Whitley's singing in this song. Sharon(MAMsMom97)took Keith's and his older brother Dwight's version of this song and put them together to make this track. It was always there dream to sing together, but unfortunately Keith passed away just before they were to do it. Sharon's "video" made it possible for this dream to come true and I'm so proud of her. This video is for the Whitley's and their fans! Thank you for stopping by.
Yes, I know that there are the two Whitley brothers singing both very talented! Thanks for the info about Sharon. I didn't know much about her thanks for the info. Sharon did a wonderful job! I'm glad she made their dream come true. It really touches my heart. It brings tears to my eyes.
That's very sweet of you to say. Y'know, 10 yrs ago when I first got online, I told my old friend Troy (waylonhoss) that I wanted to do something for Keith that hadn't been already done. I had been away from radio for 7 yrs at that point, so I felt I had no outlet, no way to help. Troy told me to hold on, something would come along that I would be able to incorporate what little artistic ability I have with my dedication to Keith. And he was right. I feel very satisfied now.
Thank you Bill. This was a labor of love. Sharon's great work on the song is what led me to do this video. "A video is a silent world without a voice".
Thank you Bill. I have always liked country music, but I have to be honest and say that I wasn't aware of Keith Whitley until I met Sharon. In the last year I've come to appreciate his music and I really have her to thank for that. Yes, she is truely a great friend!
Man that is touching. Great job Jim and the same goes for Sharons' mix. Sure seems like it was recorded this way. The spoken parts at the end cinch the lump in the throat emotion. Kudos all around friends. :)
Thank you Shawn. This is Sharon's baby(song) and I just wanted to make a video that would do her song justice. I took 7 hours just to get it all together, because it just had to be right!
Thanks, Shawn. Dwight was really feeling it during that recording session. I pray he gets past the pain of losing his firstborn son and gets off that truck and gets back into the studio where he belongs. I feel that this was a very special collaboration, one I didn't know anything about until it was finished. I was just floored by this, as you can imagine.
Jim,I believe it is very humbling of you to to pick up the sword for Sharon and her cause. It speaks well to your benevolence. I will go to the petition. Very touching video.
Thank you Rob. Sharon put this fantastic song by both brothers together and hopefully made a long lost dream come true. How can one look at that and not be inspired.
Thank you Cherrie for taking the time to stop by. Sharon's song was the reason behind this, it just got to me in a way that I can't explain. Thank you for allowing me to post the link.
Thanks Elin. Unfortunately, Keith died before he and his brother Dwight got to do a duet together. So Sharon made sure that this was gonna change and she did a great job putting these two songs(each had done a version)together so this could finally happen..singing together at last!
Your video information that you added was very nice, Jim. I'm honored that you thought enough of the duet to be inspired by it. I'm strongly considering trying to make more "duets" like this in the future. Thanks so much, also, for plugging the petition. That'll tickle Cherrie to know that you did that. Keith will be forever 34. I know he's smiling down on you, Jim.
Thank you Sharon. There was just something about it that reached me, I can't explain what it was exactly. You did a great job with this one so if you do more I'm sure they'll be just a good. Doing this video just felt right Sharon and I'm happy you approve. I hope everyone else does!
Jim! I'm shocked! And in tears! Where'd you find those pics of Dwight?!? Esp. that one of him with Flo at 2:44! The first pic of Scott Hisey kneeling by the grave is easy to find, but the pic of Keith, Dwight, Mary, Faye, & Elmer at 1:20... and the great pic Dwight used for the cover of his first album at 2:20! I'm speechless! I am truly speechless. Jim, you're wonderful.
You posted this comment Sharon while this video was still on private, but I'll take some time here as well. Sometimes things affect me in such a way that I just react and this was the result of that reaction. I never thought I'd get you to speechless!
