since i was seven i was stuttering but i tried to overcome it but it didn't work people in my school make fun of me because of that and i only 12 and I'm in grade 8
I used to stutter when I was like 10 and it was so embarrassing I hated it so much. But I felt like a genius when I discovered that singing the words made me never stutter and I found a way to hide it or "disguise" it.
I just turned 14 in december. I have been stuttering since i was 6! ! i jst hate it! i try to stay positive and stay strong when i have to present in school and sometimes it works and i dont stutter just when i think its going away it happens again!! I just feel soo awful!! these girls in my school have the best life ever! they are popular beautiful everything! BUT WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE ME!!! IT MAKES ME SOO ANGRY!!!
It is definitely nice to not feel so alone. Stuttering makes me be a different type of person than I know I am. I have so much to say but I just physically cannot say it. By far the most frustrating thing I have and ever will experience. What I would give to be able to speak normally...
People at school make fun of me my friends do and same with my teachers I cannt help it people always make fun of me and thts why kids ask why are u so quite then the worst is I can't even say my name it starts with an a and I can't say words tht start with e
@oreocakesters98 thats really bad of then to do i allways wonder what would have happen if i had just stutter in stead of hiding it of course thing could have allways been alittle different
Im 16, turning 17 on April 24th and I have stuttered all my life, ever since I could talk my parents used to tell me. I always have a hard time talking in front of others. I get stuck on a word and I can suddenly feel my heart drop when I know I'm going to stutter simply because of the embarrassment I'm about to experience. This resulted in me taking off 30 days of school last year so i could avoid getting called on on days i knew i had to read in front of the class. I also had to go to summer
I just dont like when people think Im stupid or something, Im actualy a smart guy and get really good grades, my teachers understand me but Im just worried(as I want to be a game designer) that I will not get a good job as people on the interview might think Im nuts or something.
Im 15 in June 16, and I hate my stuttering, in front of my friends and family I also stutter but they dont mind that, but I just hate talking or reading in class, people look like if they think I'm crazy etc. I have some days good when I bearly stutter, but some days or weeks are so horrible that I stutter every 3 words.
I'm 14 and have stuttered since I was 8... from ages 8-10 it was pretty bad, then in went away and from 13-now I stutter again. :/ I find that I stutter around people I don't know too well like I usually don't stutter infront of family or friends I know really well... if I'm asked to read in class I can do it no problem, but when I'm asking a question or answering a question I stutter but what helps me is saying "Um" before you start speaking... it helps me a lot. Or I just talk really slow lol.
I normally stutter when I'm with my friends... BUT I'm perfectly fine speaking with my family? I think it's just my nerves because I don't care if I say something stupid in front of my family it's just if I stutter in front of my friends I never hear the end of it :( my technique is to take a deep breath, then pronounce your words slowly... yea unfortuanatly i suffer from this..ever since i was kid.. my mom actually makes fun of me and tells me that i just want atttention but im like no, i rly cant help it..i dont talk much and ppl call me weird bc im so quiet..but im really not quiet its just that i dont want to embarass myself stuttering..ppl can be mean...
Stuttering is kinda an issue for me I'm 15 and my stutter comes and then leave but every time it comes I stutter like crazy like I always read in class but sometimes i know I just know I'm gonna stutter so I acted like my throat hurt and I didn't have to read buy sole of ur points r good like the one were u sing, i sing alot know but ppl dont notice that I sing lol it's like 20% singing nobody can actually notice and the one were u said to take a deep breath before u talk that helps alot too.
People who stuttered because their brain process faster than what their lips can say. When you stutter the first word....STOP....take a breath and say it again. If you think about your last stuttering conversation, you will notice that you tried to say everything all at once.
If you go to a speech therapy, the therapist will tell you to take note of the words or letters that you seem stutter a lot and repeat it out loud over and over when you're alone. That way, when you say in front of people
FUCK IT I GIVE UP. 19 YEAR OLD AND BEEN STUTTERING SINCE I STARTED TO LEARN TO TALK, ALL FRIENDS ARE AVOIDING ME COS IT TAKES LOTS OF TIME FOR THEM TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I SAY. NO GIRLFRIEND, AND POSSIBLY NO CAREER PROSPECT EITHER, FUCK IT FUCK IT ALL FUCK YOU STUTTERING YOU RUIN MY OTHERWISE AWESOME LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sole good thing is that knowing I'm not all alone makes me feel a bit better :-)
I have lived with a speech impediment my whole life. I took special classes for it from pre-school to 5th grade. They helped me a lot in life but now as I am approching my last year of high school and heading off to college, I can't stop stuttering at all. I'm not nervous or anything, its like my mouth doesnt know how to process the words in my head.
if only the people who laughs at us will take away our pain and let them suffer to see how painful it is for the people who stutters! why don't anyone understand?
i look online to see if there're any ways that i could stop stuttering... but all i find is nonsense and some really useless tips! my family tells me to say things slowly and think clearly before i speak but thats only making it worse coz i stretch out the words. people laugh at me everywhere and i can't talk properly anywhere, i can't talk properly in a store trying to buy things, in school, and especially in class when i get called to read or answer questions and when I'm presenting things.
I don't even know why I stutter! People tell me to think about what I'm saying, and it's just like, I do, but I just can't help but stutter! It's so frustrating! I can't talk to anyone because it's just horrible. At work, customers laugh at me and stuff. It's so rude D':
ITS SO FRUSTATING I DONT STUTTER WHEN I AM ALONE BUT OUTDOOR I STUTTER A LOT AND I AM FUCKING SCARED TO ANSWER MY PHONE OUTDOORS FROM FEAR THAT I CANT TALK AND CANT SAY ALLO ON PHONE AND MUST SAY SMT ELSE NOT TO STUTTER...AND WORST PART I STARTED TO GET MAD WHEN PPL MOCKS ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:@:@::
@blackhoror haha same situation dude i can speek clearly when im solo but when i talk to people in cellphone or in personal i stutter alot specially if the word contains "T and R"
i stutter quiet alot but what i personally do if i can fell a "stammer/stutter" coming on i just take a deep breath pronance my sentence slowly and with confidence, but i reliease that when in a conversation you tend to get excited or try to cram to much words at once
i hate my stuttering it seemed like it was gone when i was a couple years ago but it came back with a vengeance its like my mind knows when it would be a bad time to stutter and then i do and i swear my minds like "u mad bro?" but its mainly situational stuttering but schools the worst im a senior in highschool and everyone knows how nice highschoolers are... butwhenever the teacher wants us to read out loud like i think to my self Mother of God!!
I have a mild stutter but i am very scared to talk to people...i don't know why but almost everyday i feel my life is a living hell..one day I hope I change my perception about thyself and the world around me,so i can live an easier life!
And to all you people who wish to be actors or singers and think you cant because of your studder, think again, Here are some people who used to/do studder and still made it to success.
Bruce Willus
Marilyn Monroe
Marc Anthony (Jennifer Lopez's husband)
Samuel L Jackson
Tiger Woods
Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean)
Lewis Carroll (author of Alice in Wonderland)
Bob Love
these people didnt let studdering get in their way, and neither should you.
Guys/Girls, I'm 16 and I've been studdering for as long as I can remember, I remember in my childhood being picked on because of my studdering and in class i've had to get my parents to tell the teachers not to call on me. I thot my life was hell in middle school and didnt want to think of what would happen in high school, but it got better, not my studdering but my life. I got the most beautiful girl in the world, n i have friends great friends. To all the people out there, It gets better.
I am 15 and I also stutter, it really isn't bad at all. Great friends don't mind them at all, only thing I am afraid of is giving oral presentations :)
i hate that every time i need to say something, i have to say it first to myself, so that i wont make a mistake when i say it. like once, i had to call my friend for something. and i had to actually say it first, and i say it all right but when i goo on the phone,... wow.. words wont come out.
I've been stuttering almost all my life and hate itt!- and whats more, I have a problem with mumbling, have a speach impetiment, and I hold out my s's out too long, and my voice is mostly all the time high pitched... yea so now in order to stop one speaking problem I'm going to just sing everything I say! =D
STUTTERING IS TAKING OVER MY LIFE. Today I hesitated to call my friend because I was scared I would stammer. I did, and I almost ripped my hair out. It just holds me back from everything!
@chickenyfood123 Most of the time if you hear the word before you try to say it, u will be able to say it. So u might want to decide what u would say and use a read out loud software just for yourself and hear the words before you decide to have the conversation. And with that software, try to make your own conversations and practice. This will increase your skills to deal with the problem in real situations and you'll be more confident!Do it again and again, the more you practice, the better!
I have been stuttering sincle I was about 9...I'm 17...I hate it it prevents me from being the loud cheerful person that I am...when I'm somewhere public and have to ask someone something or order at a resturant I start stuttering. It pisses me off and makes me stay quiet..I never really tried to stop or get rid of it until about 2 days ago when I realized its killing my social life. I'm going to do all the reseach and tests to myself to try and get rid of this crap once and for all!!!
1. try read/sing really fast something and same time remember (don't try, you must do) what you're reading
2. learn words
3. speak as much as you can. and if you stutter, don't say "umm" "ee" "uh" or anything like that, and also don't make any weird faces, because those things makes it looks like you're stuttering, also don't tap your foot, what you can do is taking a breath or just looking and being silent, if you feel like you need to do something look around.
I never really hated stuttering because it make me sounds stupid or retard or anything that is related to anything like that, I hated and still hate it cuz it's waste of time.
Yea, I've been stuttering since I was in my mid teens and now I'm 22..it goes away for awhile then comes back, but it recently came back after a recent break up..so I'm guessing its from that.
I'm 15 and i have an on and off stutter, I've been stuttering since about 7 years old. When it said in the video that most children grown out of it by late childhood, is there any chance of me growing out of it or is 15 too late?
@Andy9742 I'm 17 and my stutter was reduced to almost nothing around your age but it came back full fledged when I was 16... I started going to speech therapy so while you can wait and see if you grow out of it, I would suggest getting help while you're still young haha
I can sometimes stutter too albeit only rarely. I feel like trying to say something quickly can cause your neurons to misfire and cause one to stutter
People got angry when I said that I had a Speech Easy for sale.I would never try to scam anyone escpecially someone who needs the help that I did 3 years ago. Im sorry if I offended anyone,I just want to help.I know the feeling of doing anything possible to avoid talking.During a college class when the teacher wanted the class to talk about our papers I actually hid in the bathroom for an hour scared it was my turn.I promise you the speech easy works! My device is for sale at 1/2 cost on Ebay
I stutter mostly in spanish speaking loudly helps i always take a deep breath when im stuck on a word when i take a breath i imagine the word in a text speaking letter by letter slowly and quiet or loud helps alot
I used to stutter and teachers used to take the piss amd make me read in class. Its funny how now that I dont stutter, I get picked a lot less for reading in class..
Reading thru this comments,it really makes me wonder,am i living in shit country like i tought i would?Im stammering since 3rd year,im 14 now,7th grade, and NEVER,EVER,somebody laughed me at class.Everybody listened like im the last one to hear a word, and im pretty amased..
Hey I stutter, im Hoping Before i go to High School(Next Year)I will Grow Out of So I can Kick Everyones ass And laugh And them, Saying "Atleast I can See rite, four eyes" Can You Hear me Now *****
@yocarlax I dont know if youre still in school, but at my school it could be put in my IP or whatever, so that I dont have to speak in front of the class. Pretty sure most schools have that
I had a stuttering problem since I was born...I can't talk to anyone cause it's imbarassing I can't talk to girls I cant even communicate with my own parents
Well I ai'nt sing songing anything that'll just make people mak fun of me more. Visualizing letters don't help. I've tried all these tecniques none help. Who knows it might work for you.
This is New with Very Positive Results. NOT a DAF Echo device, But a "Natural Speech Therapy Tool" called 'StutterFree'. It uses" Vocal Tone Technology" and is used at Home. It is also Affordable, yes, it is Affordable. See it at the website.
@havefunandrew yeah. people say that their best memories is school memories..it makes me feel even worst bcz my Worst memories is my school days...and ya sometimes it makes me wanna just finish my crazy life..
@nefrinhayat I know man its tuff, but i try to think of the worst stutterers who went through it and i guess it gives me confidence. People in school do laugh at me, but im glad i have friends who respect me for who i am. But im extremely nervous for highschool. My teachers constantly tell me that hs has plenty of individual speeches
@havefunandrew ohh let me tell ya something. i was extremely nervous abt going to highschool but once i entered it i found that it was really nothing to be scared of. actually highschool was much better bcz the kids were more mature and knew that its not something funny. believe me, middle school is harder than highschool (not acadamically ofcourse hehe). and ya pray anything is possible for God.
@nefrinhayat I always think about speking to my teachers but i cant, im to nervous. So i make my mom send a note lol. And i didnt think highschool wasnt that easy. Thanks man for a little hope. Good luck. Oh ya, just to get in out there, do u have a psn or xbox live? If u know what im talking about ha
@nefrinhayat Sometimes i want the kids who laugh to know how it feels to stutter and i bet they wouldnt be as strong as i have been. I pray every day to grow out of it and know what it feels like to be normal. By the way, it feels great to express my feelings to others like you. =]
@havefunandrew I have stuttered for fifteen years and i felt the same way in school. some teachers will take note of it and try not to make you speak aloud as much. i told my of my teachers and asked for sympathy. I wound up getting homeschooled because of the anxiety i felt. to tell ya the truth, it probly won't go away and it is something you have to deal with. everyone has hurdles to jump but it WILL make you stronger.
I just have a problem getting out words like who, where, which, you, did, there, the 'j' sound, and certain sounds.
I hate whenever I'm trying to ask somoene a question that starts with what and stuff and I can't say it and I just end up looking like a retard not saying anything.
I'm pretty sure I'd be able to introduce myself in an alcoholics anonymus meeting because it always starts off with "hi, my name is Brett and I'm an alcoholic" and I'd feel comfortable with that flow of words. However I simply CANNOT say my name when one guy goes "Hi I'm Bob". After they say their name they just look at you and expect you to say a one word answer, like "Brett" but I cant say Brett on cue like that. Or when someone just says "your first name is?" It feels impossible to say
@coolbrett dude i feel ya on that one. only I usually can't say my name period. it sux cuz when a cop asks me my name and i hesitate for a long time or stutter or i have the habit of sayin uhh..it makes me look guilty. but even if a friend asks..i choke. i'm gonna be taking a firefighter's oath of honor in a couple weeks where i have to repeat what the chief says. he starts it by saying.." I, state your name" and i'm am so anxious i'm losing sleep every night.
@hate1990me yeah whenever someone asks me my name and I hesitate or go ummm.. I always get the feeling they think I'm trying to think of a fake name. I just wish there was some way I could let people know I'm a stutterer and make them understand how hard it is for us to get words out. If they did understand, I'm sure it would help alot
@coolbrett I have to do the same thing when I say my name. Then I get the old "What, did you forget your name? HA HA HA!!" Once someone I work with asked my daughter's name I said "uhhh" b4 her name and she let lose on me "Did you just say uh!? How could you forget your daughter's name..." and blah blah blah. Most people don't or refuse to understand.
@hate1990me yeah good luck.. but you can't think about the stuttering. If you do think about it, you definitely will stutter. I know it's hard because its not that easy, but you if you worry too much, chances are you will stutter. The trick is to not try too hard but dont relax too much either. Just speak in a stern manner. It's all a frame of mind. Good luck
@coolbrett yea...they usually think im making up a fake name. lol or when someone says' "you sure about that" jokingly because i said uhhh. idk, i've been stuttering since i was around 5 years old and im about to be 20. i see no end in sight. but i'm slowly excepting the fact that im a stutterer. the down side is that it has led to strong anxiety issues.
@hate1990me same here...i started to stutter when was abt 5 and now im abt 20...and ya it did lead to anxiety issues for me too but i have depression on top of that. no solution in sight..it's good that u accepted it. i have a hard time doing that..i guess i need to start getting realistic.
@nefrinhayat It's not so much that i have excepted it, but i tell myself i need to alot, and that helps. even making a phone call makes me feel sick. but i do try to think about it realistically and realize that it's not gonna go away and so i have to deal with it. up until now tho, i have felt pretty alone. it kinda helps to know that im not. stay strong and confident...
@hate1990me ohhh...dear..trust me ur not alone, u gotta trust me on that. i've felt alone too..now im at the point where i just hate being around pple or a gathering. i've been too long on my own that when im in a gathering i feel like running away and find a sanctuary to hide. at times it made life seem like a prison...its just aint living..sigh but i try to cope with it, its not like im gonna commit suicide...but i try my best to keep up with my speech practice (i tried speech therapy)
3...when you talk in terms of difficult you are making a mistake. Believe me there are no difficult words! You THINK that some words are difficult and thats a total different approach. THINK i terms as: easy, light, nice this will help you.
ya ive been stuttering for a long time. i tried speech therapy didnt help much. but they did show me useful techniques. but when i try to use them in a random convo it doesnt work.. i feel like its muscle memory or reaction when i talk. body gets tense and then stutter. but i think if i want to get rid of it..i have to talk non stop with self confidence and be self aware. so when ever i feel i stutter i stop.
I have stuttered almost all my life. I have been successful in my career as a Government Contract Specialist. What I fear is having to speak in front of a large group of people which I have to do. I'm always looking for ways or tips to help!
Everyone holds a relationship with their stuttering (think that over) The first problem is that stutterers learn to speak consciously, once they do that speech is no longer "natural". Why do people struggle with the same letters words and situations over and over again. While other times they are 100% fluent. Have you ever sort of forgot about stuttering and said a word and wondered how you got it out? Once you hold the key to fluency you wonder why you didn't work on it years ago!
When i was a little kid i studdered all the time. Now at age 16, i rarely studder at all. Over the years i have found ways to help myself stop studdering. Most of which are mentioned in this video.
1. Seaking loudly
2. Speaking with a slightly difforent accent
3. Taking a deep breath
4. Taking your time while speaking
All these things has helped me thougout my life so far and now i almost never catch myself studder. And when i do, its very insignificant and barley noticed.
Many of the ideas above work. As a male who stammered for nearly 20 years, these are the things I found worked for me: Regular exercise requiring lots of coordination. This helps the corpus colosum develop neural pathways. Reading the Bible aloud every day. The WORD has power. If God is present with you..the stammering ceases.
Make friends and build self confidence.
Getting out of abusive family relationships. FACE YOUR WORST FEARS. Get a job answering phones. Take a public speaking course.
@cloudsurfer007 I totally agree on the getting out of abusive family relationships. This is why I hardly talk to my father. Their has been countless instances when I was a kid when my father would would call me in the room and just yell "Brandon, NO MORE STUTTERING!!" I would get things like that alot & I even got slapped in the face for it. I was raised very "old school" so physical punishment was the norm screwing up.
already destroyed the future of many ppl, and many of those are emo now, they don't want to face the world b/c of it, i do stutter slightly like 1% now, self confidence is the real solution, go on with it
since i was seven i was stuttering but i tried to overcome it but it didn't work people in my school make fun of me because of that and i only 12 and I'm in grade 8

When you say it in front of people, your lips are already used to the words. You will not stutter without even realizing it.
Imagine the words before you say usually cause more problems for stutterers. It makes you think too much and that makes your brain process even more.
louisn07 3 months ago
People who stuttered because their brain process faster than what their lips can say. When you stutter the first word....STOP....take a breath and say it again. If you think about your last stuttering conversation, you will notice that you tried to say everything all at once.
If you go to a speech therapy, the therapist will tell you to take note of the words or letters that you seem stutter a lot and repeat it out loud over and over when you're alone. That way, when you say in front of people

i look online to see if there're any ways that i could stop stuttering... but all i find is nonsense and some really useless tips! my family tells me to say things slowly and think clearly before i speak but thats only making it worse coz i stretch out the words. people laugh at me everywhere and i can't talk properly anywhere, i can't talk properly in a store trying to buy things, in school, and especially in class when i get called to read or answer questions and when I'm presenting things.

STUTTERING IS TAKING OVER MY LIFE. Today I hesitated to call my friend because I was scared I would stammer. I did, and I almost ripped my hair out. It just holds me back from everything!
chickenyfood123 9 months ago 38

NecessaryResponse 9 months ago 2
My tips are:
1. try read/sing really fast something and same time remember (don't try, you must do) what you're reading
2. learn words
3. speak as much as you can. and if you stutter, don't say "umm" "ee" "uh" or anything like that, and also don't make any weird faces, because those things makes it looks like you're stuttering, also don't tap your foot, what you can do is taking a breath or just looking and being silent, if you feel like you need to do something look around.

Or when someone just says "your first name is?" It feels impossible to say
coolbrett 2 years ago
@coolbrett dude i feel ya on that one. only I usually can't say my name period. it sux cuz when a cop asks me my name and i hesitate for a long time or stutter or i have the habit of sayin uhh..it makes me look guilty. but even if a friend asks..i choke. i'm gonna be taking a firefighter's oath of honor in a couple weeks where i have to repeat what the chief says. he starts it by saying.." I, state your name" and i'm am so anxious i'm losing sleep every night.
hate1990me 1 year ago
@hate1990me yeah whenever someone asks me my name and I hesitate or go ummm.. I always get the feeling they think I'm trying to think of a fake name. I just wish there was some way I could let people know I'm a stutterer and make them understand how hard it is for us to get words out. If they did understand, I'm sure it would help alot
coolbrett 1 year ago
@coolbrett I have to do the same thing when I say my name. Then I get the old "What, did you forget your name? HA HA HA!!" Once someone I work with asked my daughter's name I said "uhhh" b4 her name and she let lose on me "Did you just say uh!? How could you forget your daughter's name..." and blah blah blah. Most people don't or refuse to understand.
TheWayItHappens 1 year ago
@coolbrett so plz pray for me to do well. it is in front of the entire fire dept..i hate this
hate1990me 1 year ago
@hate1990me yeah good luck.. but you can't think about the stuttering. If you do think about it, you definitely will stutter. I know it's hard because its not that easy, but you if you worry too much, chances are you will stutter. The trick is to not try too hard but dont relax too much either. Just speak in a stern manner. It's all a frame of mind. Good luck
coolbrett 1 year ago
@coolbrett yea...they usually think im making up a fake name. lol or when someone says' "you sure about that" jokingly because i said uhhh. idk, i've been stuttering since i was around 5 years old and im about to be 20. i see no end in sight. but i'm slowly excepting the fact that im a stutterer. the down side is that it has led to strong anxiety issues.
hate1990me 1 year ago

nefrinhayat 1 year ago
@nefrinhayat It's not so much that i have excepted it, but i tell myself i need to alot, and that helps. even making a phone call makes me feel sick. but i do try to think about it realistically and realize that it's not gonna go away and so i have to deal with it. up until now tho, i have felt pretty alone. it kinda helps to know that im not. stay strong and confident...

I have stuttered almost all my life. I have been successful in my career as a Government Contract Specialist. What I fear is having to speak in front of a large group of people which I have to do. I'm always looking for ways or tips to help!
creyes814 2 years ago

Take a public speaking course.
cloudsurfer007 2 years ago
@cloudsurfer007 I totally agree on the getting out of abusive family relationships. This is why I hardly talk to my father. Their has been countless instances when I was a kid when my father would would call me in the room and just yell "Brandon, NO MORE STUTTERING!!" I would get things like that alot & I even got slapped in the face for it. I was raised very "old school" so physical punishment was the norm screwing up.
