I was using the PreSonus PreTube to power a MXL mic to sample into the computer. Now it will be STRICTLY Balance for the foreseeable future. The signal to noise is superior to the MXL mic pre-amp combo that I got from Guitar Center. Propellerhead is great! THE MAIN DRAWBACK is that it's 2 UNBALANCED in & 2 UNBALANCED out. If you want to sample a couple of keyboards in stereo you'll have to go one at a time.
To be honest I've been too busy to plow into it, but Balance is simple and straight forward. It's a giant leap forward when compared with the Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro I was using. It doesn't have the digital/SPDIF in/outs that the MBOX has but for the singer songwriter it's perfect. It stays in place on the desktop and the audio quality is excellent. It doesn't support recording on multiple stereo channels. The two input knobs are fixed so you aren't constantly adjusting them.
That's an awesome gift right there brother! Slightly jealous of your gift... seriously thinking about getting one myself! Any update on ease of use, how the pre-amps sound or even a quick demo of some recorded audio? Any info would be appreciated bro. Blessings
It's pricey but it comes will Reason Essentials. If you're a registered user of the full version of Reason you can upgrade it free.
