The point about my father was about how his unhealthy lifestyle, which included the consumption of sugar, had a high probability of killing him in the near future. Considering what the documentary was saying, a lot of people were feeling damaging but not immediately fatal effects from consuming aspartame. Ergo, I would be inclined to say that sugar is the more damning to consume. But, this is supposition on both our parts. Hence, I would like an actual comparison.

Let me tell you something. My father was diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome, and the doctors gave him a 50% chance of dying of a fatal heart attack in the next 10 years if he did not alter his diet. As I said, the documentary was fairly compelling in its argument, but I would not say it's fool-proof. It also did not prove that Aspartame is more harmful than eating a similar quantity of sugar. All it said that there were side effects to Aspartame that were swept under the rug.

The scientific method, by its nature, implies that you can never be 100% correct, and there is always room for the current model to be improved. As such, I would find it difficult to believe you could brainwash someone with something so mutable.
Sure, Chemo and vaccinations may be harmful over the long term, but what they treat is definitely more harmful. I do agree, though, that one should lay off the processed foods.
Take a look at bottled water. Many companies claim exotic origins for their water, but in reality, it's just purified tap water. People buy into it because they think it's special, but it really isn't. That's marketing for you.

I would trust those who have studied in the field a lot more so than a random documentary. I know better than to believe unflinchingly in documentaries. At least science and medicine are peer-reviewed.

The point about my father was about how his unhealthy lifestyle, which included the consumption of sugar, had a high probability of killing him in the near future. Considering what the documentary was saying, a lot of people were feeling damaging but not immediately fatal effects from consuming aspartame. Ergo, I would be inclined to say that sugar is the more damning to consume. But, this is supposition on both our parts. Hence, I would like an actual comparison.

I am not sure how true this is but my cousin said that theres a bill that is being signed into law that will protect these companies who make these killing viles against lawsuits. As I said, the documentary was fairly compelling in its argument, but I would not say it's fool-proof. It also did not prove that Aspartame is more harmful than eating a similar quantity of sugar. All it said that there were side effects to Aspartame that were swept under the rug.

In another, more in depth argument I had, the guy and I were sending multi-page responses to each other. It was fairly intense, and not something that could be replicated in a comments section.
Actually, the burden of proof was on you. You had to convince me that artificial additives were harmful, not the other way around.

The scientific method, by its nature, implies that you can never be 100% correct, and there is always room for the current model to be improved. As such, I would find it difficult to believe you could brainwash someone with something so mutable.
Sure, Chemo and vaccinations may be harmful over the long term, but what they treat is definitely more harmful. I do agree, though, that one should lay off the processed foods.

I talked to two friends, one who is a nurse and the other a biologist. Both indicated that the bad press of MSG and Saccharine is over-hype. I would trust those who have studied in the field a lot more so than a random documentary. I know better than to believe unflinchingly in documentaries. At least science and medicine are peer-reviewed.
As far as "NO MSG" is concerned, that's marketing. Nothing more. Companies are trying to sell more product.

They found that if you force feed rodents MSG, they'll develop retinal degeneration, but then again, consuming significant doses of vitamin E will kill you. So, again, not going to worry about it.

Dr. M. Hilleman harbours some incredible claims about the orgins of HIV & of cancer stemming from vaccines. It's 2011 & we have people, such as Dr. M. Hilleman, contributing to the dissemination of misinformation surrounding the benefits & costs of vaccines. All I can be hopeful for, is that y'all do the work necessary to be able to distinguish from those who harbour unwarranted conspiracy theories & of those who share demonstrable/verifiable evidence around the benefits of vaccines.
