TKD originated from Korea so they've had more time to assimilate it into their culture, etc. and this shows in the medal results...do you have more medals in JUDO than Japan?.....people are the same wherever you go.....some excel and some do not...South Koreans are no better than anyone else on this planet.
Think of it this way. In almost every country, the national squad picks players to send for the olympics 4 years before, and then spend those 4 years training like mad for it, so that they are prepared.
In Korea, they all train everyday whether they are picked or not... Then when the olympics come, their coach goes, "okay you, you, and you, next week, fly over."

You think that Koreans just sleep while everyone else trains? Koreans work amazingly hard. Don't think Korea dominates just because TKD is from Korea, or we have good players. Koreans work harder, especially in global competitions. If we lose once, we try even harder to win again. That's Korea for you, and that's how we got out of poverty in the 60s.

only tkd match i saw in '04. i guess nbc only shows gold medal matches, but got to admit that he had superb accuracy and last min stretch to knock opponent out. by all means it is not easy in any case. like all martial arts, if sparring is limited to specified rules to emphasize certain techniques, then practicing those techniques are main goal to win sparring matches, but still needs countless practice hours to do what he did.
But you are missing the point , this is an olympic sport , and as such you have to become the best at exactly that . No point to comparing it to other martial arts , its like comparing football with basketball . Respect to Korea , TKD is one of my favorite martial arts , spectacular and needs a lifetime of hard work to master .

I met and spoke with the coach of Samsung TKD1 while competing in Korea, he and his team are very professional. Don't leave out the Yongin University TKD team, they are also tough to beat!

I met and spoke with the coach of Samsung TKD1 while competing in Korea, he and his team are very professional. Don't leave out the Yongin University TKD team, they are also tough to beat!

im a streetfighter+bodybuilder , but it just looks very amateur, let's think if the greek guy would go for counter attacks, there will be a boring half hour match.. counter attacks are good but to be a nice game both sides should attack ..
