Why should she have to talk about something that gave her so much pain??? to help you out? Well, she did mention it in the book, and has the perfect right to not want to talk about it. Would you honestly? It doesn't work what way? Wow, is it okay to not want to focus on the negative? Maybe Ashley Judd was in an uncomfortable place talking about getting abused... is it okay for you? Sorry if ppl couldn't make you happy hostess, it looks like you're offended yourself.
I am not surprised to learn this about one of the Judds. They are three very smart and talented women but they seem to still be tangled up in their issues with each other and the world. If one discusses her weight, another cuts her down for being hung up on her looks and then makes fun of her for being fat. If one is abused, another seems to want to make faces behind her back to further abuse her but then says she admires the strength it took to bring it up....now get over it. Exhausting.
And the accusations that they both are making are very, very shallow. Ashley Judd is a celebrity but they seem more superficial than her. When you want to express an opinion it is generally better received by others if it sounds at least slightly intelligent. Just because she refused to talk about some things in an interview does not mean that she is controlling the media. You guys seem more wrapped up in your own world than she does.
My God that girl at the beginning was rude and very insensitive. I try to be an understanding human being but I get so angry at whiny girls like her who excel at bitching and complaining about others. It does not make her look a very respectable or compassionate human being. Was she the bitch in high school? I apologize but it had to be said.
A persons choice 2 talk about something should b respected, these people have no idea, yes writing things down on paper is a hell of alot easier than talking about it, if someone doesnt want to talk about something then that should be respected and move on to the next question.
This woman is absolutely ridiculous. She comes out with a book and tells the entire world that she has been sexually abused and what a terrible mother she had and then won't discuss these allegations??? Her mother and sister are famous. She is a nobody who was so desperate for the fame her family members enjoy that she started taking her clothes off in B-Rated movies such as "Bugs." When that didn't work now we have this.
Yes that is true she did put it in her book, but only because she was giving a little background history leading up to the real reason she wrote the book (her humanitarian work). Yes there are questions, but maybe she doesn't feel like answering them. They are personal. She did put them out there, but it's easier writing them down behind closed doors then to talk about them on national TV in front of hundreds of people. Let her answer what she wants to answer.
Ashley Judd has the right not to talk directly about information that was in her book. Talking about childhood abuses and writing it is two very different things. These are very personal issues that she put out and is working through every day of her life. Also, like all celebrities, I'm sure she advised CNN of what she was comfortable being asked about. That is the norm, and many times they don't consider the celebrities feelings.
Ashley Judd was a vile whore and is now calling it "sexual abuse"....that's why she doesn't want to talk about it. Everybody knows that she was a degenerate and now she wants to pretend that she was completely innocent. Her own mother and sister have discredited her "story". On the humanitarian note - I think it is great that she is redeeming herself. Do some good for a change, you skank.
@msm318 You are a disgusting human being. To say that a young child who is molested by an adult relative is a vile whore, shows what a filthy human being you are. Get some psychological counseling, and maybe you can become a better person. Maybe one hundredth the kind of person Ashley Judd is, but I doubt it...
if you actually read the book, you'd know that the book actually revolves around her humanitaran work..and the only reason why her personal info is shared in the memior is to show a little why shes so passionate about her HUMANITARIAN WORK
I like the way she called hip hop a "rape culture" in her book. She actually called out Snoop Dogg because he was a spokes person for some type of organization that helped victims of AIDS (I believe that's what it was). Really Ashley Judd? Are you that jealous. You don't go writing books about things and then expect reporters not to ask you about those specific things. Don't include it if you don't want to talk about it. And...honestly I know her name but wtf does she even do? Singer? Actress?
She was probably saying she was not comfortable at that time, which is a boundary. She has a right to focus on other things, instead of putting her finger on the stove at any requested moment. Respect her choice. Feedback welcome for blog posting below...

I saw that interview and she was RIDICULOUS and self-indulgent! Why the heck did she write this book if she doesn't want to talk about it??? Nobody will buy her book to read about her wonderful humanitarian work. STUPID! It has always seemed to me that she's jealous of her sister's relationship with her mother and her sister's talent - something I have never actually felt she has. All she ever did was take her clothes off.
@oregongrl1234 I've never liked Ashley, and that was BEFORE this episode with the reporter. Ashley is a limited actor, who happens to be very vapid, very self important and has no sense of humour about herself or anything else.
I like that Ashley is speaking out on the abuse subject, much to the chagrin of her overbearing mother, Naomi. Ashley now takes away the one thing that I like about her!

And Ana and Cenk are RIGHT! When you talk about something publicly, know WTF you're talking about! And when you're RIGHTFULLY fact-checked on your oral BS, don't go EVEN DEEPER into PR CRISIS SPIN MODE! Justifying your own SESQUIPEDALIAN bullshit only loses costs you that much more integrity, and hurts not only the sincerity of your humanitarian work, but also the victims of the LIKELY AND REAL RAPE CULTURES out there (college campuses @ night, LDS Mormons, homes w/REPORTED spousal abuse, etc).
BTW, Ashley ALSO responded (RELUCTANTLY) to HipHop fans' OUTRAGE at her GROSS MISNOMER it (IN THAT VERY SAME BOOK) of "most" HipHop as "MISOGYNY" and a "RAPE CULTURE!" Now I know she said she was raped, and that really IS sad, but WTF, Ashley? HipHop is ONLY AN ART FORM, dumb ass! AND RAP DON'T EQUAL RAPE! Just last night, I found out from NAOMI AND WYNONNA (ON THEIR TV SHOW!) that they were raped, too!
GROUP THERAPY FOR THREE, PLEASE? And could you make that TO GO? We got publicity to hound!
it's very easy if you were never a victim of abuse to point the finger and say ''oh you can help people by talking about it''. writing about your abuse and having people read it is different from actually speaking out. abused victims are very senstive when it comes to talking about what they been through or hearing it happen to someone else. people who were never abused like ana and cenk need to stfu cuz they dont know what ashley has been through. they cant judge the ways shes reacting.
@StevenBee2 i dont think she was surprised but she didn't want to talk about it. that is her choice if she wants to vent by writing a book but chooses not to talk about it in person. ana and anyone else are insensitive jerks for bashing ashley
I agree that she should have talked about it. Imagine, if you were to release a book and on a tour about the BOOK which you have made the decision to put your own personal details in it, you should also be prepared to talk. It is irresponsible of her to back out of it, not talk about it. If she didn't want to talk about it she shouldn't have written a book, let a lone go on a tour. Tough luck lady, she needs to suck it up and take responsibility for herself..
i respect her asking to focus on what she wants to focus on, but i wish the reporter could have honestly said, "sure, we can talk about your humanitarian efforts, but no one really gives a F!CK about it. proceed." people don't watch celebrity apprentice because they are excited about charity!
@cannoir probably not, but it would have made great youtube fodder. viral video = winning! interviewers should consider it. they may end up unemployed, but they'd become legendary!
Almost all TV interviews are planned to some extent. Producers want to ensure they will have an interesting interview for their viewers and guests want to ensure they don't look stupid, so topics of the interview will normally be discussed before it actually happens.
So Ashley had probably already said she didn't want to talk about that and the interviewer ignored that request. That probably happened to Chris Brown, too. But he committed a crime. Ashley suffered depression. See the difference?
So Ana thinks Chris Brown shouldn't have to answer any questions about the violent act he committed (for which he served no prison time) because Ana likes some song Chris Brown just did, but Ana thinks Ashley Judd should revisit the darkest moments of her life every time Ms. Judd appears on TV because she wrote about it?
i think ana needs to chill. i can totally understand why ashley judd might not want to talk about it in every interview just because it's sensational. LET HER GO!
We've all heard about your humanitarianism, over and over (barf), and, honestly, it's... less than insignificant. Fuck being nice to people. Seriously. In the few minutes we have left, could you please tell us in explicit detail all the gory details of your most horrible experiences instead? That'd be a juicy bit to end the interview. You've already mentioned this in print, so now please jerk us off to the explicit, violent details verbally as well.
she's not talking about it because people wouldn't buy the book that is 90% humanitarian work and 10% about being sexually abused. hate to be cynical about a sensitive and sad situation, but it's marketing
Liberal moonbats(yes, unfortunately, that includes Ashely "Social Justice" Judd) have never been known for their consistency of logic. That said, it's always amusing when moonbats befuddle other moonbats.
TYT, I'm disappointed. CELEBRITIES ARE PEOPLE! NOTHING MORE! Why should she HAVE to explain something horrible in her past just because today's interviewer asked about it. Are "celebrities" not entitled to at least some privacy, or are their entire lifes just amusement for the masses? And to say "She put [her sexual abuse] in for attention", what a horrible thing to say Cenk. (Plus as Ana said, it's in her book, why the follow up question?) Human Decency people! A rare dislike vote from me.
I have an "almost" sister-in-law that has vivid memories of sexual abuse as a child. But my spouse says she was around at the time, and says it never happened. Sometimes people cobble up memories from events that occurred only in their heads.
TYT is so wrong about this, jesus. If she doesnt wanna talk about it she doesnt have to talk about it, its pretty damn simple. Ana if you wanna read about it buy the damn book and read it yourself.
These idiots fuel the speculation that's levelled against them, then complain about it. You could come clean about your past and get on with your life, like 99.9% of humanity, or you can go write a book with ghost writers, go on a media circuit, and then whine about the invasion of privacy. Friggin maladjusted losers! "Buy my book so you can learn about my self-important ego" "vote for this HC turd bill so you can find out what's in it" Man, what a country.
Sexual abuse is very bad for a child, she just didn't want to focus on it. She doesn't have to talk about if she doesn't want to. If folk are really hooked on that point.........go read her book then!
Also, writing is very different from speaking. What's easier to do, reflect for hours and write about sensitive issues or speak about them on command?
I can't believe people think bragging about being attractive makes it acceptable for people to make comments on her looks. And we all know most of the comments are far from appropriate. An interview is a place for discussing a topic. If someone on the street asked her about her suicidal past, it would not be appropriate.
I love the audience of TYT. We don't care who thinks what, we don't just blindly follow what someone is saying, we will say our opinion despit the fact that we might be outcasting ourselves.
As people have been saying, I think it's a little hypocritical of Ana to comment on this considering she sometimes brags about being attractive, but reacts to people writing comments about her appearances under the videos.
Personally, I think that the reporter is obviously coming for that story because Ashley wrote about the topic. I think that if she were having a bad day or was still feeling vulnerable that she should have just rescheduled to a time when she is comfortable to talk about it.
Being molested as a child, a time in life when you wanted to die are things that a person might not want to discuss at all times. Judd should have mentioned it tot eh interviewer b4 hand and i think if she refused to talk on those points she perfectly entitled to refuse to comment. I Disagree with TYT analysis.
Depression, suicidal thoughts and being sexually molested are not things you can just open up and talk about on a whim. Write about it when youre in the moment, maybe. But talking about it, especially onair, to people who dont care and just want gossip is nearly impossible to do. TYT FAIL once again!
Rarely do I disagree with both Cenk and Ana but they're coming from a different perspective I guess. If Ashley Judd wanted to disclose some personal info for a cause, what's wrong with that? Somebody that goes through a traumatic experience shouldn't have to sign up for a media tour every time they want to use a personal experience to make a point.
I agree with the larger point that the media is controlled through access but there is no right of the public to know Ashley Judd's business. If sh
Why does human nature want to go to the negative rather than positive? "If it bleeds it leads" is true because people need to think they are better off than others.
I do not agree with saying she made the reporter look like the bad guy. She wrote a book about it, yes, but that does not mean she is comfortable TALKING about it. Writing something down and letting others read your point of view is SO much easier than actually discussing it with them like they were your therapist. It is a personal part of her life and perhaps she has yet to come to terms with what happened to her in full. Just my two cents.
Ana - there is a DIFFERENCE between TALKING about a painful topic and WRITING about it. What gets under your skin? I really think you need to show a bit of empathy here. You love to throw ultimatums around, but open your mind a little. Writing about it and allowing people to read it facelessly and anonymously, is very different to talking about it face to face. And how much are you assuming her motives and intentions?
I dont care at all about Ashley Judd but I disagree, if she doesn't wanna talk about it, she doesn't have to, just because she wrote about it in her book, thats as much as she's willing to reveal about it. Ana is trying to be controversial, but it only came out obnoxious.
And Cenk is only giving her a pass is she puts on an act start tearing up or breathing heavily to get out of a question, What load of crap is that, i'd rather she just said she didn't want to. . Some people arent up for it.
Lol, when you put info outhere the media has the right to ask you about it, i just hope that they start asking this kind of unconfortable questions to politicians and on tougher issues.
I have heard that some times when a celebrity agrees to some of these interviews they sometimes request that certain subjects are off limits which is anyones perogitive if a reporter trancends this prior agreement i think they have a right to be upset.I would be interested in knowing if there were such an agreement, and to judds defense sometimes things hurt so bad it is much ezier to write about it than it is to actually talk about it
It was obvious that the interviewer was going to approach the subject, but she is in no way obligated to talk about it.. There was nothing wrong with her answer.
I side with Ana. If you make it pubic information, don't be surprised if people talk about it. If it hurts too much to talk about something, don't publish it in a fucking memoir. Thats what shrinks are fucking for.
people are forgetting that ashley judd didn't have to accept the interview, didn't have to publish the book, didn't have to mention her problems in the book. but she did, and she is MAKING MONEY through it. she didn't have to write about her problems, didn't have to write a book to begin with, and didn't have to accept the interview if she wasn't prepared to answer these kinds of questions.
Ana has become way to comfortable with her own opinions, she should take a month of and look at some of the videos, and see how much shit she is talking lately.
She could have talked it round by saying "Well it was very bad so I focus on doing good things such as (insert humanitarian act here)".
At the same time if she doesn't want to talk about the horrible abuse she suffered then her wishes should be respected. Pushing her more would be worse.
You're such a hypocrit Ana, look at how you reacted to people commenting on your physical beauty... explain to me how thats not you only wanting "the RIGHT kind of attention".
Ana is losing the audience. I am thinking though that it may be deserved. A lot of picking and choosing when the law should take action, unintentionally insulting people, and now this. I can understand why Judd would not want to talk about it. Telling the world can be therapeutic I imagine. Telling them with your voice though, and telling it face to face, I imagine would be very difficult. People have no right to her story. Buy the book, you are not welcome to anything beyond that.
What i dislike about this video is that Cenk said that they do it to garner attention. Ever thought that maybe, just MAYBE, putting personal info like that into a book could be therapeutic? I mean, you guys are just being closed minded to her situation. And im not saying i know her situation, just that maybe she has reasons for why she cant talk about it. Come on guys, please be more open minded and critical before you judge like that.
Lesson for reporters: Maybe don't lead with "So tell me about your suicide attempt..."
Lesson for celebrities: You don't get to act offended when someone asks you about something YOU WROTE IN A BOOK. If you didn't want to be in the glare of the spotlight, you shouldn't have stepped on the stage.
I like TYT usually, but this is the most offensive thing I've ever seen in my life. Do these two sickos have any idea how hard it is to talk about that sort of thing face to face, or how different it is then writing about it?
Sorry TYT, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one.
If she doesn't want to talk about, then she doesn't have to talk about it. Maybe she had a really crappy morning/day before the interview. We can't assume how a person is feeling. You never know how a person is feeling at that moment if you don't ask. Just because she's a celebrity doesn't mean she doesn't swim through emotions like us non-famous people do.
@OkBellaOk Wrong. You don't get to sell books and then not talk about it. That's bullshit. Sorry, the FUCKING ADVERTISING (free, from the media) is publically released information then you wanna clam up once you're selling books. FUCK YOU CUNT. You put this shit out there and you need to answer some questions (respectful ones) but regardless, you NEED to fucking talk or shut the fuck up and don't go on television.
@OkBellaOk Maybe you missed the part that she wrote about it. It isn't like it is a secret. She was comfortable enough to tell the entire world, everyone from now until they stop printing the book will know that she was abused. Then to say you don't want to talk about it? Hell that is like interviewing Albert Einstein but never asking him what it was like over in Germany.
If you are willing to publicize a detail about yourself then you must be willing to have it addressed. If it gets out there it will be brought up. I understand not wanting to talk about it but being offended to have it brought up when they put it out there in the first place... sorry not buying it.
I'm against Ana and Cenk on this one, if someone doesn't want to talk about their suicide in detail on television then all the power to them, writing a book about your life struggles is a lot different then talking about it on air.
One of the reasons people put such things down in writing is to pin down the ghosts they can't even admit exist in any conceivable conversation. A written confession is scores of steps down from a spoken one.
Regardless, I guess I am to infer from this video that we're all salaciously interested in hearing more about Ashley Judd's most horrible experiences, because she mentioned them... in a book, and she is terrible to not give us more delicious detail in a spoken interview.
@veinknamjenbi eh you write the story in a book and do any publicity for the book its going to be talked about. writing it down should have helped you work through it. if you really wont be able to talk about it dont publish it, just write it in a diary for gods sake.
@veinknamjenbi no i haven't written and published a book. is your suggestion that perhaps she wrote the book and it was accidentally published without her consent?
@ahabthewhaler No. I only meant that reflection and promotion are different. The first and the second have no business with each other. And, yes, sometimes a book is nearly in print before you quite know exactly what's happening. That's not hypocrisy, that's the speed of the business.
@ninadbhatt " Not Google worthy"? What the hell does that mean? I mean, how mind-bogglingly lazy are you? "She is no one"? OK... Just... GOO... GLE... HER, for FUCK's SAKE. Really. Do it now. It ain't hard. Let me help you:
1) Drag those your tired fingers to a keyboard, and
2) force them at gunpoint to type out the 10 or 11 characters it takes to make her name. Spelling: "A-S-H-L-E-Y--J-U-D-D-."
3) Do you see now? Now you know. She's a real person, just as much as you are.
@ninadbhatt I just checked. It takes less time to Google "Ashley Judd" than it does to write "Who is Ashley Judd?" as a Youtube comment. Not saying anything; just saying.
Yeah, I don't think it made the reporter look uncaring like many have said.
Thats the main point, and theres really no story here. I don't get this story... theres nothing here to talk about. TyT has done several stories like this, and I kinda understand that they need to add the celebrity story to their bunch every now and then to draw in viewers, but I think more and more people don't give a crap about celebrities.
Ok there are way too many people posting on this vid about Ana's stance on this story, you know what you are all wrong, she covered it fine, and I agree with every point she made.
@Saucypants1000 She's not wrong because you agree with her? that's a hell of a lot of authority you're giving yourself right there, you realize just because you agree with her doesn't make her right or wrong.
Welcome to grown up land, you can point and whine and tell everyone "they're all wrong" for thinking Ana went about this the wrong way as much as you want, it wont make you right, maybe only in your head.
Truth be told there is no "right or wrong" here, it's all relative and opinion based.
Damn right I have that authority and you will respect it, and yes I get to tell the masses when and how they are wrong and if you dissagree with me then Consequences will never be the same
The reporter didn't look bad or uncaring for asking the question. It was a legitimate question. Judd just did not want to discuss it on television, and that is her right; it's in her book, people can go read about it if they want. Not that many of people actually read these days.
Everything cenk says is to the point and packed with thoughts/information and he is rarely redundant in expressing his thoughts. That's why I love to hear what he says. It drives me crazy when ana repeats what he says for her talk time. Just leave it to the pro...give yourself time to grow to his level
She wants to talk about the humanitarian work because it's more interesting and more important. We want to get the sensationalist news instead of hearing about good people doing good things.
Generally when someone comes out publicly (in any sense) about their past with depression or abuse they use it as a tool to help others through empowerment. Those currently suffering from such things in particular should be the target. When she refuses to discuss it after ringing the bell, she really misses on this opportunity. If it makes her that uncomfortable, it's clear she wasn't ready to put it out in the lime light for all to see.
@loz1023 Boo hoo? It's quite clear you've never experienced or every known someone who has faced these things. You do that to everybody who says they were sexually abused as children? Boo hoo? What a sick, heartless cunt you are.
@MountHappy no, that was aimed at you. the fact that she refuses to talk about something is public does not proclude her from writing about it in a book and getting it publish. you are the one who is being insensitive. boo hoo to your problems with her refusal to talk, it does not matter if it annoys you.
@loz1023 I never said it annoyed me that she didn't speak about it you stupid shit. I said she missed an opportunity to help those who look up to her and could find support from her story. She doesn't want to talk about it? Fine, that is entirely her choice, but she could have done some good with it. You're also still a cunt.
@MountHappy it does not matter if you think it is hypocritical of her for not talking about it in public, she has the right not to do so. it doesn't matter that you think she should have used her book to help other people. she still has the right to get it published and not talk about it.she choose to talk about charity work which is much more worthwhile than some sensationalist bullshit.
@loz1023 What the fuck are you talking about? You aren't even reading what I am writing. Where did I ever say she was 'hypocritical', are you illiterate or just stupid? Likely both.
@MountHappy hahaha i have lost what on earth you are talking about. obviously it is because i am slow and not because you are being spurious and jumbled.
thanks for calling me a cunt because if i am what you would call a cunt i do not want to change.
Good day to you sir, ta-ta old chap, what what! (if you're going to british it up, do it properly).
@MountHappy it does not matter that you think she should have used the book to help other people, it is not relevant to the the tyt video which accuses her of being hypocritical for not talking about her past live on tv. tyt suck here..........
@MountHappy ever heard of irony, you accuse me of being judgemental but in the same breath denounce me and judge me when you clearly no utterly nothing about me, you're an idiot and far worse, hypocritical.
@loz1023 why would she accept the interview if she didn't want to talk about it? it was probably the only part of the book the media really cared about.
@loz1023 That makes no sense. If you're doing tours and interviews to promote your book, you really have zero right to balk if the question comes up. You put it out there, for review, so word of mouth about these events spread. This is good . . . for sales.
Ana isn't dumb or insensitive to make this point. This is reality. If you really believe a critic or interviewer isn't going to go there regardless, you're not living in reality.
@Ardenwolfe You're 0% right, 100% wrong. Whatever an interviewer says, you have the right to refuse it. You put it out there for reasons known only to you. Tours and interviews are thrust on you by the publisher. What they want and what you want to talk about are often not merely different but opposite.
@veinknamjenbi Again, that would make sense if you didn't put it out there for public review. No one 'forces' anyone on a book tour or promotion. If you knew the business, you wouldn't say something so foolish. In fact, most publishers don't even want to pay for a book tour. Again, the moment you put something so private into the public section WILLINGLY you don't have much right to get snobby if someone asks you about it.
@Ardenwolfe I don't know "the business", just my own limited experience with it, which has apparently been the reverse of yours. And "snobby"? Come on come on come on come on come on!
But that's real journalism. When you write something that memorable in a book, you should expect people, like journalists doing their jobs and asking those questions. If Ashley did not want to talk about it, that's fine. She should at least prepare herself or understand that real journalists or interviewers are not going to cherry pick just to appease the celebrity and make him/her look good.
@loz1023 Wrong.
@loz1023 Being on air is like being online. If you post it you HAVE to not be scared to talk about it at any moment. If you are a serious die hard Catholic and post it somewhere, then expect to talk about it at any moment. If you have done cocaine for years and post it everywhere, then expect it to be questioned.
Seriously, don't post personal shit unless you expect it to be trolled on.
That is ALL they want to talk about and she HAD to write personal part because publishers couldn't sell it otherwise.

Ana is a bitch.

Ana should speak for herself when she says "no one cares" about little girls being raped in 3rd world countries.

On another note...the chick who is "hosting" this segment is annoying as hell.
msm318 9 months ago
Ashley Judd was a vile whore and is now calling it "sexual abuse"....that's why she doesn't want to talk about it. Everybody knows that she was a degenerate and now she wants to pretend that she was completely innocent. Her own mother and sister have discredited her "story". On the humanitarian note - I think it is great that she is redeeming herself. Do some good for a change, you skank.
msm318 9 months ago
@msm318 You are a disgusting human being. To say that a young child who is molested by an adult relative is a vile whore, shows what a filthy human being you are. Get some psychological counseling, and maybe you can become a better person. Maybe one hundredth the kind of person Ashley Judd is, but I doubt it...
dmmsharkey 9 months ago 2
if you actually read the book, you'd know that the book actually revolves around her humanitaran work..and the only reason why her personal info is shared in the memior is to show a little why shes so passionate about her HUMANITARIAN WORK
wallflowerirene 9 months ago 8
I like the way she called hip hop a "rape culture" in her book. She actually called out Snoop Dogg because he was a spokes person for some type of organization that helped victims of AIDS (I believe that's what it was). Really Ashley Judd? Are you that jealous. You don't go writing books about things and then expect reporters not to ask you about those specific things. Don't include it if you don't want to talk about it. And...honestly I know her name but wtf does she even do? Singer? Actress?
x0x0ke 9 months ago

All she ever did was take her clothes off.
oregongrl1234 10 months ago

Justifying your own SESQUIPEDALIAN bullshit only loses costs you that much more integrity, and hurts not only the sincerity of your humanitarian work, but also the victims of the LIKELY AND REAL RAPE CULTURES out there (college campuses @ night, LDS Mormons, homes w/REPORTED spousal abuse, etc).
dukenthaylor 10 months ago
BTW, Ashley ALSO responded (RELUCTANTLY) to HipHop fans' OUTRAGE at her GROSS MISNOMER it (IN THAT VERY SAME BOOK) of "most" HipHop as "MISOGYNY" and a "RAPE CULTURE!" Now I know she said she was raped, and that really IS sad, but WTF, Ashley? HipHop is ONLY AN ART FORM, dumb ass! AND RAP DON'T EQUAL RAPE! Just last night, I found out from NAOMI AND WYNONNA (ON THEIR TV SHOW!) that they were raped, too!

it's very easy if you were never a victim of abuse to point the finger and say ''oh you can help people by talking about it''. writing about your abuse and having people read it is different from actually speaking out. abused victims are very senstive when it comes to talking about what they been through or hearing it happen to someone else. people who were never abused like ana and cenk need to stfu cuz they dont know what ashley has been through. they cant judge the ways shes reacting.

MntlWard 10 months ago
So Ana thinks Chris Brown shouldn't have to answer any questions about the violent act he committed (for which he served no prison time) because Ana likes some song Chris Brown just did, but Ana thinks Ashley Judd should revisit the darkest moments of her life every time Ms. Judd appears on TV because she wrote about it?
Wow, that's twisted.

You've already mentioned this in print, so now please jerk us off to the explicit, violent details verbally as well.
Oh, you don't feel like it now? Cock tease!

I can't believe people think bragging about being attractive makes it acceptable for people to make comments on her looks. And we all know most of the comments are far from appropriate. An interview is a place for discussing a topic. If someone on the street asked her about her suicidal past, it would not be appropriate.
Vazeroth16 10 months ago
I love the audience of TYT. We don't care who thinks what, we don't just blindly follow what someone is saying, we will say our opinion despit the fact that we might be outcasting ourselves.
AForkSpoon 10 months ago
As people have been saying, I think it's a little hypocritical of Ana to comment on this considering she sometimes brags about being attractive, but reacts to people writing comments about her appearances under the videos.
Personally, I think that the reporter is obviously coming for that story because Ashley wrote about the topic. I think that if she were having a bad day or was still feeling vulnerable that she should have just rescheduled to a time when she is comfortable to talk about it.
absb075 10 months ago
Being molested as a child, a time in life when you wanted to die are things that a person might not want to discuss at all times. I do not agree with saying she made the reporter look like the bad guy. She wrote a book about it, yes, but that does not mean she is comfortable TALKING about it. Writing something down and letting others read your point of view is SO much easier than actually discussing it with them like they were your therapist. Ana is losing the audience. I am thinking though that it may be deserved. A lot of picking and choosing when the law should take action, unintentionally insulting people, and now this. Telling them with your voice though, and telling it face to face, I imagine would be very difficult. People have no right to her story. Buy the book, you are not welcome to anything beyond that.

Sad day for us.

Generally when someone comes out publicly (in any sense) about their past with depression or abuse they use it as a tool to help others through empowerment. Those currently suffering from such things in particular should be the target. When she refuses to discuss it after ringing the bell, she really misses on this opportunity. If it makes her that uncomfortable, it's clear she wasn't ready to put it out in the lime light for all to see.

loz1023 10 months ago
@loz1023 Boo hoo? It's quite clear you've never experienced or every known someone who has faced these things. You do that to everybody who says they were sexually abused as children? Boo hoo? What a sick, heartless cunt you are.
MountHappy 10 months ago
@MountHappy no, that was aimed at you. the fact that she refuses to talk about something is public does not proclude her from writing about it in a book and getting it publish. you are the one who is being insensitive. boo hoo to your problems with her refusal to talk, it does not matter if it annoys you.
loz1023 10 months ago
@loz1023 I never said it annoyed me that she didn't speak about it you stupid shit. I said she missed an opportunity to help those who look up to her and could find support from her story. She doesn't want to talk about it? Fine, that is entirely her choice, but she could have done some good with it. You're also still a cunt.
MountHappy 10 months ago
@MountHappy it does not matter if you think it is hypocritical of her for not talking about it in public, she has the right not to do so. it doesn't matter that you think she should have used her book to help other people. she still has the right to get it published and not talk about it.she choose to talk about charity work which is much more worthwhile than some sensationalist bullshit.
loz1023 10 months ago
@loz1023 What the fuck are you talking about? You aren't even reading what I am writing. Where did I ever say she was 'hypocritical', are you illiterate or just stupid? Likely both.
MountHappy 10 months ago
@MountHappy i'm obviously not illiterate because i am talking to you, which just proves that you are stupid.....
loz1023 10 months ago
@loz1023 So you can read, but are brain-dead to other people's writing. Gotcha.
MountHappy 10 months ago
@MountHappy *pat on head* good try.

@loz1023 I'm sure you've inspired yourself to attempt to think. Good luck mate! Cheers!
MountHappy 10 months ago
@MountHappy hahaha i have lost what on earth you are talking about. obviously it is because i am slow and not because you are being spurious and jumbled.
thanks for calling me a cunt because if i am what you would call a cunt i do not want to change.
Good day to you sir, ta-ta old chap, what what! (if you're going to british it up, do it properly).
loz1023 10 months ago
@MountHappy it does not matter that you think she should have used the book to help other people, it is not relevant to the the tyt video which accuses her of being hypocritical for not talking about her past live on tv. tyt suck here..........
loz1023 10 months ago
@MountHappy ever heard of irony, you accuse me of being judgemental but in the same breath denounce me and judge me when you clearly no utterly nothing about me, you're an idiot and far worse, hypocritical.

loz1023 10 months ago
@loz1023 why would she accept the interview if she didn't want to talk about it? it was probably the only part of the book the media really cared about.
sepehrsian 10 months ago
@loz1023 That makes no sense. If you're doing tours and interviews to promote your book, you really have zero right to balk if the question comes up. You put it out there, for review, so word of mouth about these events spread. This is good . . . for sales.
Ana isn't dumb or insensitive to make this point. This is reality. If you really believe a critic or interviewer isn't going to go there regardless, you're not living in reality.
That may make you the dumb one instead.
Ardenwolfe 10 months ago 19
@Ardenwolfe You're 0% right, 100% wrong. Whatever an interviewer says, you have the right to refuse it. You put it out there for reasons known only to you. Tours and interviews are thrust on you by the publisher. What they want and what you want to talk about are often not merely different but opposite.
veinknamjenbi 10 months ago
@veinknamjenbi Again, that would make sense if you didn't put it out there for public review. No one 'forces' anyone on a book tour or promotion. If you knew the business, you wouldn't say something so foolish. In fact, most publishers don't even want to pay for a book tour. Again, the moment you put something so private into the public section WILLINGLY you don't have much right to get snobby if someone asks you about it.
That's just common sense.
Ardenwolfe 10 months ago
@Ardenwolfe I don't know "the business", just my own limited experience with it, which has apparently been the reverse of yours. And "snobby"? Come on come on come on come on come on!
veinknamjenbi 10 months ago
@Ardenwolfe you have the right to talk about whatever you want and to not talk about what you want.
loz1023 10 months ago
@loz1023 grow a pair you whiny little bitch. she didn't have to write it in her book if she wanted to keep it a secret
dsquaredmlg 10 months ago
@loz1023
But that's real journalism. When you write something that memorable in a book, you should expect people, like journalists doing their jobs and asking those questions. If Ashley did not want to talk about it, that's fine. She should at least prepare herself or understand that real journalists or interviewers are not going to cherry pick just to appease the celebrity and make him/her look good.
thisisachair 10 months ago
@loz1023 Wrong. You don't get to sell books and then not talk about it. That's bullshit. Sorry, the FUCKING ADVERTISING (free, from the media) is publically released information then you wanna clam up once you're selling books. FUCK YOU CUNT. You put this shit out there and you need to answer some questions (respectful ones) but regardless, you NEED to fucking talk or shut the fuck up and don't go on television.
electronicoffee 10 months ago
@loz1023 Being on air is like being online. If you post it you HAVE to not be scared to talk about it at any moment. If you are a serious die hard Catholic and post it somewhere, then expect to talk about it at any moment. If you have done cocaine for years and post it everywhere, then expect it to be questioned.
Seriously, don't post personal shit unless you expect it to be trolled on.
UrbanZ0mbie 10 months ago
@UrbanZ0mbie well, that's wrong. you are not required to do that at all, by anyone.
loz1023 10 months ago
@loz1023 Then why post it to the world?
UrbanZ0mbie 10 months ago
@UrbanZ0mbie Reflection and promotion are separate. i expect she wasn't told all she was going to be asked about.
