i made them using springs, a drawer mechanism from the local hardware store, and some toy swords i sliced in half using a jigsaw. they are surprisingly dangerous...

they're based on a sliding drawer mechanism-- available at any hardware store-- add some springs and a low tech hidden release switch that slides onto your middle finger like a ring... snik snik. (they even make the noise)

you have to manually slide them in but once they're "cocked" they explode out of your denim jacket sleeve...
