I had an open tip revision to raise my tip and reduce a hanging columella, it looked raised for first few days after surgery, now columella looks like its hanging again, is this swelling doctor? I mean, will it 'suck upwards', it been nearly two weeks since my revision, i just hope it doesnt stay this low again. Thanks :)
Can swelling fluctuate? Some days, my nose appears straight, but some times it looks like it becomes slightly convex from one oblique view. I have been taping like this and I think it helps but I am wondering if fluctuation of swelling is common and how long I should expect this behavior to last.
@bqureshi21 anything is possible. i would seriously doubt that and have never seen it. when the lymphatics heal, which may take months, things should stop swelling.
@samlammd Thank you. Also, I am unsure of whether or not a "bump" on the side of my nose may be swelling or not. If I press down on it or apply tape, it goes away. Also, some days it seems to be there while others it seems to be gone. Does this sound like swelling, and will taping help to heal it?
@samlammd understandable; i just never feel comfortable talking to him, he doesn't seem to listen or want to communicate with me. i hope it's just a possibility that it can be swelling
i feel like a little piece of tip cartilage came up a little while taking off the tape. The tape my doctor gave me is very hard to get off unlike paper tape. Im going to call them monday morning. I sure hope a lot of damage was not done to my nose.
@Chepo760 please email my staff for the answer constanze at lamfacialplastics [dot com] or call 888-866-3388. i have been asked not to post prices here.
I had my nose done 14 days ago, i had the nose package removed 10 days after surgery, then the doc taped my nose and told me to retape it after 4 days, which was today! now i want to know for how long should i tape my nose? my doctor is out of town for weeks!
and there is one more thing, my nose bridge is sooo tiny and i look awful!!! is it goin to change???and when?
It was very useful. I asked my doctor if i could do this and he said yes and even recommended a certain brand of tape. But he told me to put two pieces of tape on th bridge of my nose pressing it down. I was wondering if that will make my tip go down?
thanks. i always tape the tip first to support it. however, you need to ask your doctor that question since i am not your surgeon and cannot directly give you any kind of advice. sorry.
hi doc, i saw your video last night so i started taping straight away. But this morning when i peeled the tape away, there were indentations on my new nose where the edges of the tape met the skin. Is this normal or damaging to the nose.
Thanks in advance, and thanks for showing us this video.
these videos are intended for my patients only and as general information. you must speak with your surgeon what he or she recommends NOT me. for example, i give my patients a special kind of tape and personalized instructions. do not follow my instructions, follow your surgeon's.
I am from Norway, but I would like to make my Rhinoplasty in USA. Can we arange some kind of consultation before I come there? I have very specific nose, havent seen anyting simular :)
talk to your doctor about your concerns. dont be afraid to talk to them, you just paid them money, they owe it to you to follow up with the procedure.
I am two weeks into the recovery process and am a little concerned with the way my nose is forming. The bridge of my nose has been reduced but it seems to have a dip in the side near the top. I also haven't seen any change in the width and length of the tip. Is this a normal reaction at two weeks out?
hi, i'm sorry but i make it an explicit point not to comment on the after care of another surgeon's work. you MUST ask your surgeon his/her thoughts. sorry.
it is very hard for me to give you a consultation via youtube. you would have to come to see me for me to answer that question. in certain cases i can. in other cases, depending on your anatomy, i cannot.

@bqureshi21 yes, swelling can fluctuate. typically it lasts several months but it could last up to a year or more (but that is doubtful).

@samlammd Thanks Doctor. One more question: can swelling ever be permanent?

Does taping could change tip of the nose? For example turn it up? Or its just for support
deepsky69 2 years ago
in general, no. however, you must always ask your surgeon before deciding any changes in postoperative care of any kind.

So what´s wrong with walking around town like that? I'm doing it and I still wear the "white moustache".
If people don't like what they see they are more than welcome to look the other way :)
