  • My Bruins playing the Wild today in Minnesota on hockey day in America!

  • awee ge was trying so hard not to burst in tears....even though few tears dropped,

  • Looking forward to having a rivalry with a fellow classy hockey city like Minnesota. Signed, a Winnipeg Jets fan.

  • @Soullessdistraction Looking forward to either getting our asses kicked, or kicking your asses. With respect of course. Signed, a Minnesota Wild fan

  • I was at this game....it was AWESOME

  • Mike Modano will ALWAYS be a Minnesota North Star to the State of Hockey.

  • Getting a standing ovation in an opponents building is rare. This was amazing to see. Very classy of the Minnesota fans

  • if this franchise was in cleveland he would have been booed

  • @halodystroyer44 no. they wouldn't have booed him. mike modano stayed with the "north stars" when the moved south and became "the stars". its a completely different situation. we love him in dallas, and minny fans were just showing the guy love for having a great career.

  • im a stars fan but i gotta give it up for the wild fans!

  • Jesus is coming soon! repent and prepare for the lord

  • classy fans

  • I'm an Avs fan, but mad respect to the Wild fans!

  • "Right out of his BVD's"

    haha

  • Im still quite upset that Mike went to Detriot being a Stars Fan. ALthough Mike is one of those players who deserves a good Stanley Cup again. I'll always be a Modano fan!

  • But you can't deny that Dallas is a hockey town. 18 k plus showed up for the Stars home opener. Dallas is a hockey city!!!

  • @thebig1 they are -- and it's an awesome success story the owner does need credit for that because he essentially brought a good team to a non tradiotional hockey market and that's what it takes -- i know ppl in minnesota don't like it but at the end of the day they have an nhl team and they will support them whether they are bad or goof whereas the same cannot be said in Dallas!

  • @ramzi1979 The Fans in Dallas have still been going to the arena the past 2 seasons even though the Stars haven't made the playoffs. I think your wrong when you say the same can't be said for the Stars fans. Dallas is a great hockey market and had a hockey team in the central hockey league even before the Stars came.

  • @thebig1 i think you focused on a small part of what i was saying, which is unfortunate... i said they obviously are a great hockey market, but i'm sure the fact they were a great team when they first went there improved their marketability, Dallas is not a traditional hockey market like LA like Anaheim etc. but they've made it because they've had success... if they didn't have success it would have proved a lot tougher... there's nothing wrong with that... that's just the way it is.

  • @ramzi1979 The North Stars the season before the move they had 36 wins and 38 losses and missed the playoffs. I think everyone thought they were a competitive team but were they are very good to great team team....NO THEY WERE NOT. Dallad a CHL team prior to the move of the north Stars that sold out every game. Its also a fact that Minnesota fans were not showing up to Stars games and weren't buying Stars merchendise. Dallas supported the team because they wanted hockey there no other reason.

  • @thebig1 I don't know people up here were really pissed off about the move.

  • Hats off to Modano and to Minnesota fans: both VERY classy.

  • Welcome to Detroit Mike, i've been wanting you on our team forever!

  • I love the old North Stars Jerseys...

  • Welcome to Detroit, or welcome home, Mike.

  • mn loves you MO

  • This is Why Minnesota is so awesome. Plus, I love the North Stars, they will be missed. The coolest Jersey ever. :/ Fuck Norm Green. Minnesota is Hockey central, fuck Canada, yeah you started the fad, but we took it and made it the haven of U.S. Hockey players and fans alike. Free-loadin' canadians.

  • @porchwhitey What?We own the sport.Learn your place little american.

  • @porchwhitey Just jealous we kick your fucking ass.

  • @KakashiKyle9 LOL all you got is sidney douche bag. I'm not american either, I'm Finnish getchyo facts straight, I just moved to Minnesota And I like what they've done with the sport.

  • @porchwhitey You must be stupid mostly all canadian players have surpassed modano's goal count and this is just a lil bit of players theres way more HAHAH FAIL!!!!.1Wayne Gretzky

    2. Bobby Orr

    3. Gordie Howe

    4. Mario Lemieux

    5. Bobby Hull

    6. Maurice Richard

    7. Eddie Shore

    8. Jean Beliveau

    9. Doug Harvey

    10. Raymond Bourque

  • @KakashiKyle9

A Large fail on your part also, cuz 3 players on your list, are surpassed by Mike Modano in goals.....i think u shud check your stats before u speak..!!!!!!

  • @9DKong Lots more you idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • @9DKong Large fail? They all are ahead of modano.Im not even talking shit about him.Hes my fav player.Wtf.Dont argue with the truth.Modano has ALOT of goals. But hes not the only one.Dont be an ignorant fool.Hes my fav player for his style of play and the way he moves the puck.Joe Sakic is another ahead of him.

  • @KakashiKyle9 hey dumb dumb check your stats, Mike Modano is my Favourite player, ok.....he`s got 561 goals in his career, and 1374 points.... Bobby orr for example has 270 goals in his career and 915 points, Jean Beliveau has 507 goals and 1219 points, eddie Shore 105 goals and 284 points, Doug Harvey has 88 goals and 540 points, Raymond Bourque has 410 goals and 1579 points, even The Rocket Maurice Richard has 544 and 965 points..... check your stuff before saying anything !!

  • @porchwhitey Thats not even 1/4 of the canadians who had more than modano you little shit.Learn your place. We are your superior, bow downed before us and suck our dicks.

  • @KakashiKyle9 lol yeah right is that why it took yall over 30+ years to finally win a gold medal in hockey. Im not going to deny Canada is ATM the best at hockey cuz they are, defending world champs and olympic champs, so right now u are the best but ur not superior like you think. and you can talk shit to americans all u want but if it wasnt for use the NHL wouldnt even exist where it is now.not defending porchwhitey btw he is a dumbshit.

  • @kingpincmk123 LMAO atm....You guys are good at baseball ATM.

  • @porchwhitey Reason why american teams are good because they are full of canadian players, and the canadian teams are full of fucking europeans.

  • @porchwhitey The fucking Dallas Stars are 90% Canadian 1 american and the rest are from finland.Go fuck yourself you brainwashed finhead.

  • Spaz O_O

  • I have a question for all the MN hockey fans, what was your reaction when the Stars won the Cup in 1999, and what was the Wild reaction when the Stars first played at Xcel Arena in St Paul?

  • @666mathew In 99' they had been gone for 6 years and most players had left but it still was a kick in the gut to watch them hoist the cup. The arena was electric when the Stars returned but the Wild won 6-1, it was crazy because Dallas was a much better team and the Wild only an expansion team. The Wild felt the energy in the arena and were just flying around like it was the Stanley Cup.

  • @bcmn12

I bet it was a kick in the gut. Now you know how it must felt like for Québec Nordiques fans when the Avs won the Cup in its very first season.

I still don't why North stars left.

In my opinion, MN is the only team that was truly worthy of a NHL franchise under Bettman.

  • @666mathew The North Stars left because Norm Green (who better not enter the state of Minnesota) left for more money in Dallas. They were in the Stanley Cup in 91' with sell outs and he moved them in 93'. I felt for those Nordique fans believe me and the Jets fans who had to watch them go to Phoenix of all places. I know hockey in the US isn't what it is in Canada but for Minnesotans it's damn close.

  • @666mathew We didn't really react to the Stars' Stanley Cup, and their first game at the X was loud and cathartic. There was still a lot of anger about them moving.

It wasn't until 2003, when the Wild made their playoff run, that a lot of us finally stopped bumming out about the Stars. Now they're just good nostalgia for us, and Modano is the last active link to them, hence the tribute.

  • he made me became a north stars fan during the 91 stanley cup final but im a habs fan to death mats naslund and mike modano are my 2 favorite ever!!!!!!!!

  • Greatest American ever and one of the greatest players ever. Ive been a Stars fan since the mid 80s and I remember as a kid watching Modano get drafted. I cant believe its been 22 years already. I dont ever want him to retire. But I know its inevitable. Im hoping he playes one more though so I can say farewell when he comes to edmonton and I'll also go watch him play in Dallas aswell. Class act all the way Mike and that was great seeing Minny honor him like that.

  • As a native of his hometown of Livonia, Michigan I can say that I have always placed Modano among the classiest of players of all time! He will be missed! It was so great of Minnesota to honor him like that!

  • @19Miracle80 I hear you I'm from Redford, can you imagine if he signed with the Wings and finished his career? One could only wish

  • @19Miracle80 lol yea and now look hes playin with detroit yea yeaaa!!! ive always been a big fan of modano and now hes playin in his home town.....i love it...cnt wait for the season to start

  • @19Miracle80 Yeah he was the best player we ever had so far.

  • I was at the game and the standing ovation lasted for about two minutes. The crowd didn't want to sit down. The sure didn't make a case for Modano to come back for one season in Minnesota.

  • Great classy move by the Wild and their fans to give Modano his due. Very nice moment.

I remember a lot of people with hard feelings after some of the things that were said after The Move, but he's too respectiable to worry about stuff like that. Enjoy your retirement, Modano. Hope to see you owning the Wild someday.

  • Very cool to come out in the North Stars jersey. Glad to see the respect for the best American born hockey player ever. We'll miss you Mo. Always a class guy.

  • @Woodsnymph idk if i'd say best american but its a close one, but your right he's always been a classy guy and he deserved this

  • isn't kesler from livonia too?

  • @ramzi1979

We'll agree to disagree. LeClair is up there too. Who for you?

  • @ramzi1979 yup

  • We need more hockey cities like minnesota in the NHL!

  • @ramzi1979 Yeah man, I love Minnesota and Dallas. I'm a Leafs fan regrettably, and I gotta say I wish I wasn't because tickets to ANY game are WAY too expensive. I just want to hit up a game now and then, have a beer, and watch some hockey, but it's unaffordable here :(

  • @ASteveVaiFan by the way i'm a die hard canuck fan and minny aren't suppose to be on the list of favorite cities but as a hockey fan cities like minnesota will drive the NHL this is what it's all about.

  • @ramzi1979 Minnesota is just like Canada in our culture, we love hockey we have cold winters, there are outdoor ice rinks in every neighborhood like you would see soccer fields or football fields in California. By comparison hockey in Minnesota is the equivalent to football in Texas, the people here are that passionate about it.

  • @bcmn12 exactly which is why we need more hockey cities like minnesota in the nhl

  • @ramzi1979 ever heard of detroit?

  • @CrappyHockey i sure have

  • @ramzi1979 Stars fans aren't bad either. They're the only fans I've ever seen who haven't booed the other team hoisting the Cup in their own building. Well... I think they booed Bettman's ass, but who doesn't?

  • @williamfleishman that's cool... but i don't think a canadian city would boo by the way... since it never comes down their way :) they're just happy to see it in their city regardless of who wins...

  • @ramzi1979 here here

  • @ramzi1979

FYI - Minnesota is a state, not a city.

  • @ErixReeze Thanks for the clarification you anal prick :)

  • @ramzi1979 theres plenty... their all in CANADA! where most of the teams should be, half the NHL cities in the US dont even know they have a hockey team, never mind go to their games...

  • Canucks fan here. I know what you guys are going through, Linden retired a couple years ago. Very similar situation. Similar type of career in Vancouver. He was also drafted one pick behind Modano in 1988.

Modano's a great player, no question. Gotta respect him and what he's done.

  • Thanks, Mike! You've done the city of Livonia and the State of Michigan real proud. Next stop is the HHOF and we'll see you there.

  • Love you Mike! Thanks for years of great memories! You are a class act!

  • class act mike modano is. he will be missed. Hope he finds a job in hockey
