I would allow for hunting rifles to be in the home (non-automatic) because that falls into sport. All other firearms (handguns included) because of their intended purpose which is to kill, to maim, or to intimidate, should be housed at regulated firing ranges / armories. That way, you can still use your guns and get the rush you need, but it can be done safely and the gun can't be stolen. That way, in case of armageddon, you can still run there and get your gun.

"murder "is virtually always the ultimate outcome and family members or known friends, and innocent victims are generally at the receiving end. I would allow for hunting rifles to be in the home (non-automatic) because that falls into sport. All other firearms (handguns included) because of their intended purpose which is to kill, to maim, or to intimidate, should be housed at regulated firing ranges / armories. That way, you can still use your guns and get the rush you need, but it can be done safely and the gun can't be stolen. That way, in case of armageddon, you can still run there and get your gun.

My point is that the laws aren't strong enough when it comes to guns, and even inforcing them does nothing to prevent you from killing me or any one else should you decide to go on a killing spree. Our founding fathers could never have imagined the firepower available to today's citizen. They fired, single-shot muskets! Given such modernization and potential destructiveness it only makes sense to take a new, enlightened approach to the 2nd amendment for the safety of our citizenry.

Madison or Jefferson wouldn't have cared if self defense comes out the end of a single shot musket, six shot revolver or 13 shot Glock 21, self defense is a fundemental god-given right, and they crafted the document to protect that right. IT reads, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." According to a proper English translation this right should only apply to the people belonging to a well-regulated militia--not every one! This is big debate, but any one who understands the english language can see that THIS is the meaning

This is where you're badly mistaken... The author(s) of the Constitution weren't stupid when they wrote the Second Amendment. It plainly states that the people have a right to obtain guns in case the government gets too powerful.
Yes, the government is supposed to protect us, but the 2nd Amendment protects US from the government and from criminals or intrusions.
Step 1 - take away guns from the people.

You are right on... Democrats think they are making history by voting for Obama... ha! Real history can be made by voting for McCain. A vote for McCain means stopping socialism and the path to communism. Dems claim they are standing for the "little guy" and average workers but liberal policies kill jobs and force more people to seek government handouts. The jobless are getting duped by Obama. Although I don't agree with who may own or have a gun.I would not want to be unprotected against a domestic or foreign threat.Now there should be a ban( or a least a permit with restrictions on assault weapons like M16's and rifles and shotguns!

There already are restrictions. You have to pass a background check to buy a gun (any gun) in any state. Its the law. Go to a gun store and find out for yourself.
