I love Mattie & was dumb founded when I seen she bomb on all three floor runs (podium training/Qualifications & finals). I think her floor routine is amazing; it’s too bad she wasn’t able to show her talent at worlds. This is the one worlds championship that killed her chances for worlds (2011) or the Olympics (2012). I think it’s about to get twice as hard for all girls/ladies/women for the next Olympic team. Best of luck to her and her college run at UCLA.
she looks exhausted. her dance lacks the sparkle it had at nationals.it's interesting to see because she's going to college next year(UCLA),and this is her first worlds.i guess marta is not happy about this, and even if mattie does try to get on the team(which i would doubt)marta wouldn't trust her.
It is interesting to note no one threw Alicia under the bus when she bombed at Olympics. I remember Marta hugging and consoling Alicia. Why is there such a love for some athletes and others are shunned. I can remember when Dawes was competeing how she was robbed of medals all because of the color of her skin!
@china101w i don't think it's because she isn't caucasian.alicia had already been a world champion,and had almost made it on to an olympic team. also, shawn and nastia both went out of bounds on floor.don't forget that nastia,chellsie,and bridget all fell(or had a deduction that was equal to .8 or more)in prelims.Mattie had never been to a worlds, and no one else made a big mistake
@china101w Dawes was an amazing Gymnast, and always pulled through for the team competitions, but she always dropped the ball on the individual events. She could have won both the 93' & 94' AA but fell on her Vaults both years. I don't think the color of her skin had anything to do with her abilities and the loss of medals...I think she had a problem dealing with stress, she talks a little about it in the 10year reunion of the Mag 7 interview. After all she is a 3 time Olympian! :)
Such a shame about that first pass, and her two and a half punch not lay out front I absolutely love Mattie. This isn't her best. Her floor is amazing, I hope she performs well in finals, the US needs this score. Too bad she didn't make it finals though. :\ oh well, she'll get 'em next year!

the fall was weird. she had so much height and it looked pretty nice in the air but she landed short
