  • .I'm 17 years old from Israel, this video was just a moment of pure magic, I was singing along to it and all of the memories came up so fast. amazing. thank you.

  • No ass remains unkicked after that one! Great job

  • It's impossible for me to express how much I like your covers. It would give me such happiness if I had the willpower to learn to play like you. I took some lessons on the classical guitar. Maybe if I had heard you play this I would have been inspired to stick with it. I am so jealous of what you must be feeling as you play such music. Namaste.

  • Absurdly good.

  • AMAIZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Haunting rendition. Fabulous.

  • thank you , it is awesome

  • I'll be damned... You rock, man!

  • Very nice arrangement. I'm about your age and have played for years, but I took a different direction in my style, yet this music always gives me encouragement from what could have been.

  • just fucking great !!!

  • Absolutely beautiful! You are a master guitarist! Brought tears to my eyes.

  • Very beautiful........

  • You keep amazing me, Tony...

  • im from argentina and have 34 yrs old, I sing all the song with your video, thanks for the moment!

  • @alnetworks2010

thanks so much for all the comments.

  • Oh happy days they were.

    Thanks again tc, rock on.

  • well said rider500. I too am 53 and in love with this song and this ma's brilliant talent. I learned the first few phrases on the piano and then it just got to hard to do by ear after that so I am all the more amased by this rendition. Ihave been singing to Troublecliff for about two years amd lvoe everthing he has ever done. Brilliant.

I have never seen an original from you though. You must have something to share with your fans. Please post something.

  • Great stuff!

  • great!! I think this puts stairway to heaven to rest- as technically difficult to play. unfortunately, this isn't heard in guitar stores by would-be buyers. ;-)

  • a very nice arrangement. Thanks for the post.

    Can you do 'Horizons'?

  • At 53 yrs old, I stil go back to this, perhaps my favorite song of all time. I still get caught up in the art of decision and consequence, the sheer poetry of it, and the fact that Tony banks used somewhat of a sonata allegro format to paint the picture. You did better than excellent putting this to guitar. God Bless...

  • @rider500

    thanks!

  • All I can say is "WOW"!!! This song has haunted me since I heard it the first time. Hearing you and this amazing acoustic version of it blew me away. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for posting this.

  • Wow!!! One of the best songs Tony Banks ever wrote hands down!!!

  • really beautiful

  • Beautiful transcription of what is probably the most beautiful song ever written by Tony Banks.

  • Hallo,

ich liebe diese Musik und möchte Die ein goßes kompliment ausspechen. Du spielst ganz fantastisch. Alles gute.

hello, I love this Musik, and you are playing it FANTASTIK. So, great Honour and all the best for you.

    Thanks, Fred

  • Very nicely composed.

  • just.. great. You have a delicious musical taste!

  • so fantastic...

  • Amazing. I just don't get how you musicians do it! Keeping track of all that music and co-ordinating two hands all at once.

    That was beautiful!

  • thanks

  • lovely work you've made mravissimo, but whereis the 7/8 part? anyway great, greetings, haim

  • :D, yeah that would be cool. but this is just an excerpt as i said. glad you liked it.

  • My friend,Spaci33, who turned me onto your videos a while back, would've swooned over this like I am now.... Wonderful stuff..

  • Wonderful. Thank you.

  • ....wow

  • ". . . if I could find a horse not made of sand."

    Beautifully done. Very nice indeed.

    Thanks

  • Very good.

  • Very nice arrangement. Could have worked out well with Hackett playing this piece instead of Banks. Nice job!

  • Having just p****d all over another "Man Man Moon" cover on Youtube, I'm absolutely swooning over this. The playing is not just technically awesome, it's emotionally rich and really adds something to what is already a great tune.

  • Wondeful, beautiful, fantastic, I LOVE your arrangements,

  • Genial!!!! Flaco. Soy de Argentina. no sabes el placer que me Dió. BEAUTIFUL!!!. You don't how I enjoyed of your performance!!!!. Thank you so much!!

  • starts out like a tetley tea or calgon bath oil beads commercial....... but genesis is KING of romantic melody

  • hA! that's hilarious. thanks. actually the beginning of this always made me think of Gary Puckett's "Girl....do do do....you'll be a woman soon" :D

    Calgon, TAKE ME AWAY!

  • Perfect! One of the greates pop ballads ever written. Sure it isn't widely known. In this world of artistic mediocrtity what do we expect? No problem we are here listening to this. Anyone who is here watching/listening this vid: there are still many people pout there who appreciate real and excellent music. Am I selling Troubleclef? Nope. The same goes for, say, Jelani Eddington, a virtuoso organist who is specialized in theatre organs. Anything but the crap they feed us! Thanks.

  • Brilliant !! My favourite Genesis song !

  • GREAT

  • As an old Genesis fan your videos are such a joy!!! Absolutely beautiful.

  • F A N T A S T I C

  • Bravo !! Grande !!

  • i have all the albuns from genesis and this sound that you play is perfect very good in my laguage portuguese from Porto Portugal ...muito bom exelente.

  • muito obrigado.

  • Hahaha, I love the guys from Porto, Portugal. Great sense of humor and fantastic musicians up there. They just need to work a little on their spelling: it's: "excelente". But what the heck, I'm just bloody nitpicking (and it was probably just a stupid typo anyway) . People from the beautiful city of Porto are really great. Love 'em.

Biba o Puerto carago! (= lomg live Porto - in local slang ;-) ).

  • get gitar lesons!

  • f ,,,,,,, you

  • Versione e arrangiamento strepitosi, degni di uno degli innumerevoli capolavori dei Genesis!

    Standing ovation meritatissima!!

  • disregard that. I just read your description

  • May I ask for a tab for this if you have one?

  • Du er bare utrolig !! harmonierne er perfekte du er bare så god !!

  • Unbelievable !!! YOU ARE GREAT !!! Have you ever heard of Tommy Emmanuel, the great Australian guitar player? you remind me of him !! And the GENESIS Classics Like this tune, UNREAL !! Keep it up Brosky !!!

  • trés bonne reprise ; bravo!!!

  • man, that really takes me back to the mid seventies. bravo

  • One of Tony Banks' best! Nicely done.

  • Captures the sadness in the original piece perfectly.. makes me wish Hackett had played an acoustic guitar into along these lines on the album. You are an excellent musician. And I should know, my girlfriend is a classical guitarist! ;)

  • I NEED tabs for this, mainly the intro , it's awesome. I can't find it anywhere.

  • Nice melody.

  • thanks! yeah, this one's pretty old. (that's why i still have the "approval required" thing still on. haven't turned that off all the old ones yet. that's why you didn't see the comment)

  • u should make a cd of all your Genesis songs... I'd totally buy that!!!!

  • Now that is an incredibly good arrangement of an incredibly good song! Thanks for sharing!

  • Hey bro. Awesome stuff....but what else is new right?? :) Do you know how to play "Cuckoo Cocoon" from The Lamb Dies Down on Broadway? That song is beautiful.

  • "Was it summer when the river ran dry, or was it just another dam"? Great lyrics in this song. I really enjoyed your guitar rendition of this classic Genesis tune. I look forward to listening to your versions of my favorite Genesis tunes, and will be moving on to Firth of Fifth next! Thanks for sharing your remarkable guitar talent!

  • Your arrangement is beautiful! I wish I could play like this.

  • One of my favourite Genesis tunes - such a lovely and haunting tune. I really hope someone shows this one and your other G-covers - to Tony B. and the rest of the guys. I think they would really appreciate your skills and enormous efforts behind your arrangements.

If you are "listening" out there Tony, Phil, Mike, Steve etc. please send this amazing player a proper and well deserved Genesis salute for his fantastic work.

  • i thank you for that.

  • WOW! BEAUTIFUL!

  • another amazing song. is that standard tuning? you are inspiring me to learn genisis on guitar. you play it soooo good.

  • yes. standard. thanks!

  • thanks, hey you new vid is awesome too. :)

  • Great job troubleclef!

  • Beautifully played! You show great empathy with the song. Thanks.

  • phenomenal

  • Beautifully played, man. It sounds as lovely as it sounds being played by Banks himself.

  • thanks

  • Brilliant. A great treatment of one of the most gorgeous songs ever written.

  • Great performance. Considering you're playing a part originally played by Tony Banks on piano this is astonishing.

I like your Beatles covers too.

  • thanks!

  • Great

  • Dude. These are Great. How about "River of Life" from PFM.

  • don't know any PFM. i have one of there disks and i like it, but haven't ever dug deeper into it.

  • Wow... awesome... beautifully played, excellent arrangement. Keep it up!

  • One of my favourite Genesis compositions. Beautifully played.

  • it's 'favorite'... Where the hell did you learn to spell? yer english ain't real good. : ) love this tune too. guy rips off a savage rendition of Blood on the Rooftop. Happy Christmas!

  • "favourite" is the british spelling. Like "colour".

    and thanks

  • I was just funnin' around. ain't that damn dum! hahaha Happy Christmas to all and keep on rocking. mantega

  • Sorry to criticise (English) but you may care to memorise (E) and / or learn some of the original English language before you argue about spelling - dialectally speaking that is. Read the lyrics on the Trick of the Tail album and you may find the word 'gaol' not the American invented wording of jail like something from Blazing Saddles!!

    O and it's Rooftops!!

  • monkinator66 was just teasing. I don't think he was trying to start a language war. God knows, we don't need that now. We need all the allies we can get! xD

  • I so much love that song for it chord progressions and pure emotion. You are really talented at reproducing complex chord changes and melody. You see a great musician when it seem esay to play, you are one of them ...

    Yves from Montreal ...

  • thanks, Yves

  • tony banks is a genius. that first chord of the coda has always grabbed me. such an emotional change. i would have never thought to put that chord there.

oh, and by the way, that was a beautiful arrangement.

  • thanks!

  • BRAVOOOO!!

  • this guy is talented, but maybe if he didn't hate logical thinking, such as "It's obvious Barry Bonds did steroids" or hate everything surrounding his own talent he'd be making MONEY doing this. Reading his blogs i'd say that this guy is his own worst enemy and he should've been making GREAT MONEY years ago doing this

  • Money don't get everything, it's true, but what it don't get I can't use.

I'm not sure you understood my blog at all. Oh, well.

  • bravissimo! Complimenti!

  • I bet even Steve Hackett would be applauding.

    Bravo !!!

  • i looooove you!

    you're great

    it's a beautiful song

  • Very nice. I used to play that song, but not quite as well as that, for sure. I'd probably find that easier than 'Blood on the Rooftops,' though.

  • Absolutely Brilliant!I have no more words...

    I'm stunned!

    D Janke

  • Stunning!!!

    You are so talented!

Greetings from Las Vegas, Nevada USA!!!!

  • beautiful

  • I've seen most of your videos and, as everyone here says, you're a very skilled guitarist and an outstanding arranger! Again, you should think about recording some of your arrangements, there's always an independent label willing to suport good talent.

  • Also... you are my hero, by the way.

  • I am really enjoying your videos. I know you said no tab exists, but... if you ever get the itch to transcribe this, I would KILL for it.

  • I love it!

  • what a marvel! you make me dream... hope you last a long time...

  • Beautiful, truly beautiful - thank you so much

  • goodness, your renditions are magical! as if I didn't love all these tunes enough as it is! How's about "One for the Vine"

  • thanks. i would like to try that one. maybe will.

  • I can watch you the hole day.Greez from Swiss

    So Who Is He :S

  • Geezer!

    WHo the heck are ya?

  • you are very clever

  • By the way...tonight here Steve Hackett in concert...

    :-)

    Thanks man...

  • I must admit, I a really impressed with your ability to play at the classical guitar what is already very hard to do on piano. Incredibly musical ... PLEASE, do not stop to impress us. As a 34 Year guitar playing experience, I am always liking this instrument more and more.

  • It is a on the first Phil Collins solo album...some really nice work I think by Daryl Stuermer...man it is nice to find a fellow soul who has some of the same music tastes...I found your Weather Report Suite amazing...I love Genesis, the Beatles, the Dead, Yes etc. weird... you rock bro...check out "The Roof is Leaking" on PC "Face Value"

  • Lovely...TC have you tried "The Roof is Leaking"?

  • thanks. don't know it. who's it by?

  • ótimo
