I've lstened to it time and again. Not only does the LP sound great the Juno 6 sounds superb. Really great patch Mick. Gotta give the ears a rest now. CHEERS!!!
@POODYMAN2010 It would seem possible to me. The specs I have seen on the SP indicate they should sound the same. The Slim is just the LP without the KB interface. I'm not sure how connected to the hip they are in the LP. From what I have seen of SPs here on YT I can't hear a difference. Hope some one gets it to work and posts a vid. L8R
@Babyblue57 If Mick is still using the same I believe it is a very large hall reverb from his Behringer mixer. They have a really good effects section.
@ollie633 Wrong. It's a JUNO 6 with a Kenton MIDI kit. You can clearly see the name plate just above KB on the right side at the start of the video. I know Micks studio quite well. Just wish I had his stellar talent though. Gonna keep trying though. :<)
Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was a great effort and I love that sound. Moog's have this way of making sounds that can rip your throat out or produce sounds that can make you cry. Shame that lasted only just under 3 minutes, I could listen to that all night!!! Excellent
first of all awesome stuff... you got the same taste in music as i do... second would you please consider shareing this patch? i got a LP but it won't sound anything like this :(
Awesome sound!! Please, pretty please with cream and sugar and everything else you like on top: Do a tutorial video!!! I would really like this sound coming from my LP!
@JarrickAerdyn Your wish is my command..video done, hope it works out for all you LP owners..(the LP is not mine by the way its on loan from a friend)
@retrosound72 Hi Marco, many thanks. The Model D was a pain to tune up when I had it but It really warm, the huge power that came from it..and the LP ...is amazing:)
Your work is really splendid ! This means how much one has to study deeply the Little Phatty : it is absolutely true the basic factory sounds are uninteresting in themselves (except one or two). But as soon as you begin working to create you discover it has infinite capacities. It is the proof of these instruments superiority to hide this way their secret powers. Every musician is free to imagine and reveal unsuspected worlds all different to the others. So you do !
Mike, pure awesomeness as always. ;) I see you moved back into your kitchen. I had a Phatty before i switched to a Voyager. The Phatty raw sound can be tamed when you keep the filter overload down to zero and also when you change the filter poles. Experiment with a 12dB setting. Also the super fast envelopes can help.
@mik300z Try it, it´s worth it. Also have a look in the Eventide Space. The reverb of that stomp box is HUGE. Both together makes an excellent couple.
Very nice sound! Not Moog-like. Wondering what kind of effects did you use. Especially Reverb. Any guitar FX pedals? Thank you for sharing. Truly beautiful sound with cool Christmas lights!
Very nice improvisation with this Phatty gear. Doesn't sound as clean as awaited. What about the resolution of the params when the filter is tuned while playing? Any jumps to hear?
Hi Mik, my favorite synth is a Moog voyager. You are correct about the raw sound but with a little tweeking and effects the Moog can not be beat. I use my Moog for bass and leads in every song I write. Give it time and you will fall in love with this synth also because nothing sounds or plays like it. Enjoy.
@mattsynth Hi Matt, yes you're right , it is a huge sound compared to most modern polysynths. It behaves a bit like a model D too, the longer the oscillators have to warm up the sweeter it gets. I Reckon the moog Voyager must be even better. .
@Hyper5nic Thankyou! yes, you almost get the feeling of aftertouch expression with this sound because it behaves differently in the way you strike the keys. The vibrato through the LFO gives it a lovely warm feel.
@mik300z Like you said they normally sound raw. Sometimes that's great, like when Numan used them on Replicas, but you've made it sound refined and sweet. Awesome stuff as always my friend.
@hdprice cheers! Yes, I have found it so difficult to gel the moog into what i'm doing I nearly gave up on it. It's just that it cuts through the mix so well, it wants to be heard above everything else. When I had the model D last year I had the same thing ...a huge sound that begs to be played with, but ended up on its own in the track. I used it extensively on Astral fare, similar leads as this, very warm and inviting:)
I've been tinkering with Arturia CS80v2 software to get *that* Vangelis sound but it just doesn't quite cut it. On screen sliders are no comparison to Analogue controls with real knobs & buttons
@jayc2469 I deleted the Arturia a year ago, impossible to re-create the real cs80....I'm actually scared to touch the moog now in case the very same sound never comes back. You can store presets on it but when its switched on the next time, it takes a while to warm up ...just like its older cousin. thanks by the way!
Happy Holidays Mik! I done much to spread the word amongst my you-tube followers about your music. I have enjoyed everything I've listened to and look forward to your new videos. Continued success.
Is this a specific piece of vangelis music?

These sounds were forged in heaven, and little phatty is just picking its frequencies... Just like CS80 did. Bravo!

Can you make that sound on the slim phatty, given that they both have the same sound engine ?
what is the main disadvantage of buying the slim phatty instead of the little phatty other than the crammed interface ?
Great video btw :D .

:-) I very much like how the moog kind of 'sings' in the tail of each note.
It tends to drown the melody though when two notes sound shortly after or at the same time.
