No I'm just using the built in forum providing me free speech to critique the artist. I went to see Joe Purdy. He was mocked by the audience. Then he made up some silly stories that clearly were embellished so that you'd think he's some gruff "seen-it-all" character. That was why I suggested he's pretentious. Some accused me of using big words. But pretentious just means pretending. Pretending is a word we all used when we were toddlers. I'm sorry if that went over some heads.

Sure. He did a song that sounded exactly like Desperado from The Eagles. It got to the point where eventually 30 or so people were singing Desperado over him. So he stopped and said "I fucking hate the Eagles" and went into some story about how cool it is to hate The Eagles. Sure you hate The Eagles, Joe. That's why you write songs that sound just like them. He's an actor. He writes songs for TV shows. He's not some great troubadour. His guitar sounds nice until he opens his mouth.

My wife and I saw him in Kent, Ohio this past summer. He opened up for Steve Earle. I never heard of him before and when he first came out on stage I knew he was going to be good. He didn't like the bright lights because he said he felt like he was playing in JC Penney's. I was totally impressed with him and would definately go to where he is playing again.
