interesting video, I have it myself, but one thing I find now it maybe unique to me but I get this thing that I assume aspergers is causing that kinda pisses me off :/ I get this thing were I'd be walking along the street, sun shining, well its probably raining actually cause it always rains here lol anyways the point is, I have this habit of smiling and feeling uncomfortable when I walk by people I simply cant control it I just smile, bt its not a good thing cause it wud prob look weird
haha, I ate the exact same thing for lunch every day for a whole school year. A mozzerella cheese stick, 5 arrowroot crackers, a turkey sandwich and a pepsi one. Every single day.
I think there is a correlation between autism and western european dna lineages, because most people with aspergers seem to be of full or partial West european decent, myself included.
people with aspergers are most often misunderstood for being insensitive or rude hurtful to others, but what people of this normal society do not understand is people with aspergers come across as insensitive or rude unintentionally and it's only because they don't understand people of this outside world and how they think or expect.. most often people with AS end up getting serious melt downs because they don't know of any other ways to express themselves!! and I know exactly how they feel:)
It's not easy for me to live with this disorder. It controls my life. I can't go out anywhere because of fear. I can't go outside my house after dark because of fear. I have limited friends and they tell me I talk too fast and ignore them when they try to change the subject. I can't see or understand the CUES of the interest in the other person I am talking to. I ramble on my topic and leave them out of the conversation to respond. One Sided conversations. It's like I talk to myself.
@MerlinsJester That is basically true. I used to have a brother-in-law that I believe has this syndrome. He couldn't keep a job and had virtually no friends and didn't have a clue WHY. He often came across as rude & uncaring. Needless to say, my sister is no longer married to him. This is not a small thing to deal with in life. And, sadly, there is no cure--only anti-depressants & lots of therapy can help them lead semi-normal lives.
Thank you. I understand more about this condition. I wonder and also am curious why the eye contact thing is the hardest to do with this condition. Why does it bother or is so difficult. Wouldn't that be just a problem solving issue that could be fixed with simple will and commitments.
i dont know why we dont do eye contact. i just cant. i always look at the mouth of the person talking to me. i watch their mouth, pain in the neck really cos i trail off in my own thoughts and dont listen somtimes. cant help it. lol
Hi there. I am a fellow sufferer, totally agree with you about interests and also being able to live comfortably at the same time. I have a video on youtube detailing my experiences, feel free to check it out and comment. All the best
Question: If repetitive routines are based primarily on laziness does it count? It doesn't seem like I have any routines where I'd get terribly upset if they were broken, I just tend to do certain things over and over again because it's easier and doesn't take as much thought. When others present something else that looks fun I jump at the opportunity for some novelty.
I do have trouble with socializing which Id elaborate on but Im running out of
Please guys do a bit of research into the link between vaccines and autism.
Also look up Andrew Wakefield. This man is a saint in my opinion, he was struck off for doing research into the link between vaccines and autism and the big medical industry tried to destroy him because vaccines means BIG MONEY to them and thats all they care about. Not about us. Also I recommend prayer and the healing power of the Holy Spirit - there is NO no infirmity or sickness that cannot be healed by the Lord.
About food I have AS and I worked at a boy scout camp this past summer and every week ate the same food for 2 months and hated it lol.
hardest part about AS for me is talking with people. I work in retail and can talk to people good enough but sometimes i choke when asked a question or stutter and i get really embarrassed, however i dont think people know i have AS my co workers probably just think im weird or awkward.
Cheerio ! I also like fallowing a really basic diet and "consistent" I did the same back when I eat other animals and now that I'm vegan... the foods changed, but I've found the ones that I like as a general food routine. My body wasn't always okay with my meat eating diet and isn't always okay with my vegan diet either, though I think it's better because I'm lactose intolerant anyway, so need to avoid dairy and also gluten intolerant, so need to avoid wheat, rye, and barley as well.
I also am afflicted with Asperger’s Syndrome, and the concordant eating disorder, but I have been inefficacious in implementing your deterrents to social isolation as I lack a considerable degree of supposedly ‘ostensible’ knowledge of human expression. In fact, I no longer desire to domiciliate within the constraints of a flourishing social life, and am perfectly content with my isolation.
Human connections need not be pursued for reasons other than the acquisition of an affluent lifestyle.
Your thoughts on this were simply amazing. You really nailed it and a great way to control it too. Thank you for sharing your world is us You Tubers! Blessings, Kim
I have AS too. I'm a trivia freak. I like geography, history, science etc. Friends call me the professor. I used to play an online trivia game and beat people from all over the world. My online name for the game was Beelzabub due to the fact that I despise religion and make a mockery of it.
I have AS too. My interests are primarily guitar and amps/electronics. My practice regimin is difficult to work around but, i am getting better with my 'routines' I also have a high IQ which helps in some ways. I am comfortable with it other than that i have a family and that can be difficult for me as well as them at times. I also went through anorexia at one point. I find the ignorance of some people amusing...it's akin to rednecks with their sexism and racism, quite barbaric.
Thanks for sharing, I have a friend whose son has Asperger's. With the food thing you mentioned, I wondered if it might be possible for you to take on as one of your "Routines" to try eating something different every day? In other words to use your need for routines in your favor to overcome your difficulty with eating? Or is it that changing what you eat feels disruptive to you? best of luck to you! :-)
I have Aspergers Syndrome. I'm going to try the best I can to not let my aspergers get the best of me. I want to live an independent life as much as possible.
You like rules in the sense that with one by one rules being added to conversations per week & a reward system for following the rules you could easily have more success with conversations & making friends.
I made two videos #14 & #15 on the topic and wonder what you think of it.

Patterns. Patterns upon patterns upon patterns.
With Asperger's Syndrome, repetition won't bore you. However, you may get bored with people rather quickly...
