The essence and purity of flowing rythem and music. Without advertising, it transports the listener to.... class. Getz and Byrd blended a soothing yet vibrant combination of music that makes your spirit dance.
...........just imagine a war going on behind the song - black and white, no other sound, slow motion.. or a sunny day and u're on your way to meet your lover or a Saturday evening with friends at home just when they arrive.. love it! LOVE IT!
I must have played this song about 500 times in the past 6 months.. I listen to it when I wake up, on my way to work, at work, on my way back home, at home, on my way to the city, before I go to bed, I play it at least 5 times at every I go to. I listen to it when I'm angry, when I m happy, When I m sad, whenever.. It s gotta be my fav obsession.. It just goes with anything, anytime..
jajajaja si wey un chingo de enividia y tu has de ser su puto novbio cabron jajajaajajajaajajajaj pinches puñetas jajaajajaja ya ve a mamarla wey jajajajaajajajjaajajajajajaja
Yes, it's Stan Getz but it's also CHARLIE BYRD!!! Sadly, his contribution is usually an afterthought when peeps (who don't really know too much about samba OR jazz) think of this album...
This album is as much Charlie Byrd as it is Stan the Man!
I have my copy but my father (who introduced me to it so many years ago) has THREE copies on vinyl, all in IMMACULATE condition. LOL! Such a slammin' album!
Anyway, if you dig this then look up Charlie Byrd's samba recordings; you'll dig!
@djfakt I've been a big fan Charlie Byrd since 1961. I think Charlie may have recorded more Bossa Nova than Stan did. My favorite Bossa album is his "Bossa Nova Pelos Passaros" ("Bossa Nova By The Birds") There are a couple of tracks at watch?v=hCY9V9HqJDQ. I know you are aware of it but I think some others may enjoy.
@doucheymcdoucheawitz You fcking clown, it most certainly IS Charlie Byrd on this album...Know before you speak, chump. I've grown up with multiple copies of this album...Fcking punk.
@sopalcachofa Stan mainly played tenor sax, including here. I believe there is at least one recording where he played Baritone sax, and I've read he could play alto and Soprano too, but as far as I know (and I'm no expert) 99% of his recordings he plays tenor.
What a wonderful feeling you get listening to him play. You never forget the greats, do you!! Dave Brubeck, Stan Getz, Paul Desmond, and too many others to mention.
this is the beauty of this type of music. you can just relax anfd listen to this for hours... its soo soothing to hear it. loving every minute of this
This song means so much to me; is so important and significant to my positive and hopeful state of mind; that I couldn't hope to express it here. Here's to life, Stan! There is always blue beyond the grey sky... Follow your dreams and fight for them!
@blackchow95 so....if that's true - Mr. Omnipotence - who ever get's their inquires answered to them? Then again, I don't deserve an explanation under your theory.
@1979saxman All kidding aside people like this genre because of it's breathtaking beauty. For me it makes my heart smile. Listen to it long enough and you may like it too. :-)
Words cannot say what this song means to me. When I am working my heart away so that somebody else can gain material wealth; this helps me remember why I am doing it... It's not the destination, but the dance that got you there, that counts. nobody can take this song from me; no matter how good or bad it gets. This song makes me feel better every time that I hear it.
Typical Jazz musicians. Just because a guitarist doesn't play five thousand notes a second doesn't make it bad. It totally fits with the music. A Pat Metheny "burn it up" solo would ruin this and I could no longer make love with it on in the background. No wonder so many jazz musicians are starving.
This is like melted butter, soo smooth. And the drummer !!OMG!! his brush work is flawless and very soothing, kind of like a really good massage. love it...
Love this!! Bossa Nova rules! What a seductive genre of music. My father used to play this on his reel-to-reel, which was my first exposure to Bossa Nova. Now I play it all the time.
