I've had my Astro A40's with the wireless mixamp for about a year and it is really hard to game with anything else. I've tried Trittons, Turtle Beach PX5's and they don't come close. The best part about this system is that it works on all systems, I can use them on my 360, PS3, PC, what-have-you. The only thing is that if you do use multiple systems, you might want to get an optical cable switch :P

@iMiguelAOG I think youre right. I heard from some people that Tritton headsets are actually better but the Astros are only better because of the mixamp. What does the mixamp actually do ?

@shehri4life it lets you run any heaphones or headset into the mixamp so you can use them for hearing the game or audio sound and chat sound. the audio is virtual 7.1 surround sound and im guessing the mixamp decoder for this is higher quality sound then other brands which is why people think astros are the best

I love my astro's. I've got the wired amp with the limited edition Saints Row headset, there simply awesome, I love em. Blows away any other gaming headset I've ever used but I've just ordered the wireless set now with some black A40's for the living room. Cant wait to get them :)

@swiftlegend They are just really poor build quality. If your using purely for surround sound then get PX5's, the soundstage is far bigger and more precise. If you want slightly better quality get the A40s. I have both but am selling px5's because they have become to loose and i refuse to buy again from a company that is rude to their customers and don't honour their warrenty.

@PULZYV1 Ok, well I bought the PX5's :) I can get them for £139.99 vs £240 for the A40's so thats quite a difference, but the wireless bit for the A40's bit is the killer for me, I would just regret buying them because of the one wire... sad but true for me I think.

@Viczey Astro all the way. No question about it. I owned the TB PX5's for about a month and took them right back. TB over-promised and did not deliver. If the TB: PX5/XP-500/DELTA's used a 5.8ghz freq, w/ crisper audio, stronger bass, & less top heavy then they would be the winner. But their not. Btw, the PX5, XP-500, & DELTA's are...LITERALLY...the same ~,~. I cannot tell you how many people complained about my voice sounding muffled or distant with the PX5's. I am buying the A40's.

My point: bro, you dont spend $280+ on a headset that is ONLY compatible with 1 or 2 devices...its un-justifiable.

Personally I cannot wait until Astro comes out with their completely wireless system with the current Mix amp downsized and built into the headphones....but still with the light weight factor.

Im done with astro. I have used this headset for about 3 months and its already broken. I wiped the thing with a diaper and treated it like it was a brand new ferrari. Then the left earphone just dies. It's a good headset, but thats a major buzz kill. I just hope they accept returns...
