i think redans is serious... i had both n79 and 5800 and although 5800 is newer it remains a piece of junk, what you expect from an entry level...? n79 had some bug with first firmware version but now is one of the best candybar with more feature than anyother and remember that is 2 years old...

This phone has plenty of features, camera works, its small and it has sports tracker and the belt to measure heart rate. Keys are small and annoying but I am used to it by now. Transmitter does not work but I dont really need it in car since I use ipod classic and fm transmitter.. I rarely listen to music while I am running, also headphones I got with this are bad.

After watching so many reviews I finally bought n79. There are ppl saying it sux, hangs and so many issues. But after using 2 week I didn't face any single problem from this fone everything is working great even if I found 1 or 2 in future that completely ok, every phone have some problem. from my side thumbs up for this fone

I've had the phone for 9 months and I find it to be the most feature complete phone i've seen (what other phone has the transmitter?), although my 3 main gripes are the hard to use keyboard (buttons are hard to push), the small call/end keys (I accidentally hit the menu button alot and have to use my nail alot), and the picture quality on the camera is hard to get spot on. It gets slow with heavy memory useage but thats pretty standard with most phones.

Hi there.. I have N79 and I hard reset by mistake and did not back up. I lost all apps that come preinstalled like IndiSMS, N-Gage games and many other stuff. Is there any way I can get them back ? I have firmware 31.002

If there is no way out please list all the apps, games, widgets that come with N79 in India so that I can search and download them manually

today i bought what i thought was this phone off from someone on an ad on a craigslist-ish site. they sold me a shitty Chinese counterfeit and being the genius/nervous wreck i am i didnt notice until i got home. i figured i didnt need to try the phone out in person because i already watched this review...

2.The music is really good, it doesnt distort even on max volume!After you update the version 30.019the music quality is completely improved and the headphone prvided is nice and good sound output, not like cheapo Xpress Music headphone(nokia 5130 everyone?)

3.The auto rotate is sooo fast and its faster than my other phone nokia 5800 have a nice theme effect. if you buy N79 you get what i mean.

4.Its reasonable price, in my country Malaysia i bought this phone cost RM 1499(in nokia original store,but i got a discount RM 1299 though)But hell yeah its quite resonable with all in one price.

5.Good battery life, in heavy use it stands for 2.5 days, for moderate used 6 days. Its really good batterylife and if you didnt used 3g, turn it to GSM in network setting because dual mode caused batery to finish fast.

6. Gps has a really good signal. but i don't use it much so i wont talk any further about gps.

7.Wifi signal is holy strong! almost same as my laptop. i live in 5th floor and i got almost 5 or 6 wifi connection using N79.

8.Video quality is awsome, is sooo much better than nokia 5800 because nokia n79 video quality is celar and not gloomy like 5800. And you can used video light for night recording.

PROS:1.GsmArena says that the camera is not the best for 5 megapixel. yep i have to agree with that.BUT, after i updated the new firmware update from version 10,20 and the latest i updated since august is version 30.019. and the camera quality is completely improved. and the cam quality is same as N82 after update version 30.019. But the flash are led so n82 won for night photo. Anyway, the pictures is really great! it replaces my digicam. the camera quality is soooooooooooo beautiful and awsome

I own this phone and honestly...I wish i didnt buy it. It's a relatively good phone but it's got some nasty problems:

1: The display is made of glass, so it scratches easily and mine fell from like a half of meter on the floor and the display broke. It still works but it looks awful.

2.The metal surrounding the display corrodes easily. Mine already started corroding and i have this phone from like 2 months.

3.The software can become pretty laggy sometimes.

I have an N79 here in England. To my horror it didn't have the classic Nokia SMS alert that's been around for years (the double beep-beep). It took me an hour to transfer it from my old 6280 (or N73). Had to transfer it to Nokia suite, then to N79. Couldn't Bluetooth it for some reason.

I have dropped it a number of times from about 4 feet up onto concrete sidewalks, and yet it still hasn't broke. This phone is very durable, good size and has many features. Tomorrow I am getting the Nokia 5730! it has more features and a qwerty keyboard, but the downside is that it is a bit bigger. For those of you who are getting the N79, enjoy it, because you will.

Pros:

1.Superb and best audio quality! even at max there's no distortion at all!

2.Camera is great for my opinion. actually this is a my first 5 megapixel phone after all. but can't beat n 82. but for me the picture taken is clear and nice. wayyyyyy greater than my friend phone k 850 and c 902.

3.navi wheel is the best! is easy to scroll just soft touch the flat d pad. n 78 and n 81 has a not very good navi wheel than n 79. n 79 is tha best!

.key pad is easy for me to press.not mistype when i'm texting peaople. its not hard to press or hurt your thumb like n 78 and n 82.

5.auto rotation is fast and responsive! even faster than nokia 5800.

I need help deciding which phone i want...

N82 or N79. I am gonna use the phones in Canada but N82 dosent support 3G in Canada which is good because i  dont want $30 data charges. But the N79 does support American 3G. Is it better to get the N79 and go to my Cell Provider and get them to block 3G and internet or get an N82 and not have to worry about the 3G?

There's nothing to worry about. It will ask you which one do you want to connect with: Internet via internet settings(3G, EDGE, Wi-Fi) or GPRS? You can always choose the one that you want. I've never used 3G and I always use Wi-Fi. Go for the n79. It's the best in the n-series for the money you pay for.
