Thankfully there is seal hunt so that IFAW can spend a million $ in helicopter time to film a few seals(hopefully getting dispatched) and then make 10-20 times their investment back in donations! The seal hunt is necessary to cull these vermin. Nobody seems to get bent out of shape over mice,rats,grasshoppers or any other vermin being gassed,poisoned,trapped to death...Whats the big deal??? on avg, 1/20th of their incomes from seal hunting & the rest from commercial fisheries. Even in Newfoundland, where 90% of sealers live, revenues from the hunt account for less than 1% of the province's economy & only 2% of the landed value of the fishery. According to the Newfoundland government, out of a population of half a million people, less than 6,000 fishermen participate in the seal hunt each year.

The sealers club the seals to death rather than shoot them because they make less money off a skin for every bullet hole found in it. This also means that those hunters who do choose to shoot rather than club, because they are shooting off moving boats & have poor aim, only wound an animal & allow it to slower suffer and bleed to death. Many seals are simply injured, sink below the water, & are never recovered.

Its disgusting and inhumane. There is no real need for this "hunt."

Whatever footage you saw is picked between thousands of correctly done hunting images. Nothing is perfect and as such there will always be cases where it doesn't work properly. But still, the "cruel head bashing" is approved by the WWF as humane, and even if it looks more violent than simply shooting them, its much less painful. So good job on making them use guns...

Oh and yeah whales aren't cute, but they're endangered, now THAT'S a valid reason to protect them, and I fully agree with that.

Veterinarians who did necropsies reported that 42% of seal pups were skinned alive. Perhaps you should check your facts. The WWF was founded by trophy hunters to protect wildlife for their use.
