since we have throttle by wire if you let off the gas and shift really fast, the car can't respond fast enough so you get a rough shift.

Well the filter in an SRI is physically closer to the cock pit so you are correct in thinking they do sound better. Shorter tube means less distance for the sound to travel before it hits the filter.

Its providing the engine with a larger volume of air, it works. I can notice with and without the intake on both my sol (b16) and my older Si, when the intake is put on the si alot of bottom end is lost which correlates to how and why an engine makes its power when and where, BUT it also gains alot of top end power as well.
