Personally, I think Heidi's real mother is Carol, because Carol is the one who raised her, Carol is one who Heidi loves as a mom. Sure, Lily's the biological mother, but Heidi doesn't even know Lily, how could Lily possibly be her "real mom"? And maybe the father really loves Carol now. Why should he divorce her?
At the same time, though, he could have at least taken Lily in, helped her out. She has nowhere to go, and she has the right to get to know her daughter as well.
