Sweet new guitar. If I was going to buy a Martin the HD16RLSH would be the model I would get. I am however in love with my Taylor and would get another if I could afford it. Sounds sweet buddy!! Put some light weight Elixirs on it and off you go! FCG
@FCGlynn ,,ya,,, taylors very nice too,, I use medium or "bluegrass"-cleartone or d'addarrio,,for bassier sound and better intonation at higher fret,, ,,,the tighter the string =better intonation ,,john pierce good string too ,,thanx for comment and keep pickin ,,,R
@FCGlynn Taylor can't touch this guitar, or any Martin in my opinion. Taylors are ok if thats what you like. I purchased some Med.Elixirs for my mandolin, but never put them on any of my mandolins yet. I've been using d'addarrio. There a ok string, Right now I've been using Sig. Bill Monroe Gibson. What a great string. On my guitars I use nothing but Martin Med. SP and Sp +. I think Martin SP line strings are the best. At lease that I have tried. Taylors are good guitars, just not Bluegrass
@FCGlynn Lights are for wimps. Lights get lost in jam sessions. Banjos, Mandolins will eat you're Taylor up. Even if you're Taylor had Med. on it. You still wouldn't be heard. Taylor's are made for that shit pop country, and pick ups to be heard. Taylor's are a ok sounding guitar for pop country. Martin,Santa Cruz, and a Blueridge will eat you're Taylor up in the sound department. They will cover you up, and drown you out. With just a mic in front of them. Taylor has no driving power.
Say friend, I think I'm reading your position on Taylor guitars and light weights. How about putting up a video or two of yourself playing those loud Martin strings?
@FCGlynn Light strings have no drive, You're Taylor guitars are cheaply made, Come on Bob Taylor uses wood screws and shims in the necks. To hold them on, because they can't curve them right to fit. I wasn't preferring to you, personally, or you're style. I will tell you now, for the style you play you're good. Don't fool you're self. You can't play Bluegrass, even if you flat pick. You're lost, so don't go there. Eneven on a med. speed Bluegrass song you be lost. Taylor low line no bracing.
I'm glad my guitar is going to a good and appreciated home! I'm so happy you'll enjoy it like it should be.
