@TheRationalBeing oh yes, the vague company-making-record-profits-every-year argument. boohoo, that means their system works. i realize people like you hate systems that work, but don't let that stop you from getting in on that cash flow, amiright?
@nephihirt "That means their system works." It sure does work for them to the tune of record profits, and the fuck everyone else attitude. I am utterly dumbfounded by your defense of a group of individuals who, hiding behind the corporate guise, bilked Americans out of a trillion dollars in bailout then pay themselves bonuses. This is who you should be attacking not the working man! But, as you stated, their system works!
@TheRationalBeing again, you idiot, i am against bailouts. i never defended corporations for that. i don't defend them for anything, for that matter. i defend policies that are just and constitutional.
@nephihirt I guess you are lacking in intuition. You defend policies that are just and constitutional. So do I. Fact of the matter is that loopholes in the current structure are allowing the people of this country to get screwed over by government and big business alike. They are together on this. Revolving doors. Many of the worst policies are unconstitutional, written by big business and politicians looking for a good job when they get out of civil service. This is being overlooked.
@nephihirt I understand you are against the bailouts, so am I, but unregulated free markets promote the type of actions described. @nephihirt I'll tell you what. It is obvious to me that you are doing rather well in this economy and that you have never felt what it is like to be down and out in America. Your are going to tell me that people in the US who have lost their jobs to someone in China, its their fault they are living past their means? They weren't when they had a job. How well do you think you would do if you had to take a 50% pay cut from you salary? Could you still afford all your payments? You are shallow.
@TheRationalBeing i'm flattered you think so highly of my economic earning power based solely on my argumentative skills. truth is, i grew up in a blue collar home where my dad owned a contracting business that went bankrupt twice. he never blamed a corporation, always paid his taxes, and eventually paid off all his pre-bankruptcy debt. we never starved. we never froze to death. we never took govt. handouts. so yes, by and large, i believe it's your own fault if you're living beyond your means.

@TheRationalBeing the type of "poverty" that minimum wage provides in the US pales in comparison to the type of poverty in communist, socialist and other countries.
only capitalist countries have poor people with cars, cell phones, cable TV, 24" rims, etc.
@nephihirt It does pale in comparison, that is why I tend to compare the status of our poor with the poor of Canada, Australia, Europe etc.
FACT 1: 400 Americans have more wealth than 153,000,000 million Americans.
FACT 2: Not all impoverished people have cars, cable TV, and 24" rims.
You still didn't come close to engaging the fact that people are working 40 or more hours a week and still living in poverty. (See fact #1) Do you think this is a good thing?
@TheRationalBeing i would like to see those numbers comparing our poverty to those countries (which are all largely capitalist), taking into account population size, which is historically relevant when dealing with socialist systems.
your first fact is irrelevant if the 153,000,000 are still better than they would be without capitalism, which they are. in regards to your second fact, i never said "all." with the exception of perhaps 24" rims, these are common items for minimum wage earners.
@nephihirt who live with less because of SOCIAL institutions that provide what they are lacking. You think that people in poverty here are doing better than others, but do you take into account the mental strain and anxiety someone in the US goes through because they MUST have the basic necessities to live provided either by services or by wages earned and services purchased. You may think those in poverty in the US are doing better, but whose standards are you basing this on?
@nephihirt Now my first fact is irrelevant IF....well whose to say. Many of those people worked to make the 400 rich and now have lost jobs because the owners move jobs overseas. Do you believe American workers should be forced to compete with wages that are less than a $1 a day? The masses of the poor are growing daily in America, and this trend will continue. Greatest country in the world has over 50 million uninsured, another 50 mil underinsured, and 15 million living in consistent poverty
@nephihirt All the while a small amount of people are buying politicians to make sure their needs are met and their profits can be maintained.
Whatever man. If you think that you and later on your children, are immune to living below your means, you will soon find out that the playing field has been tilted in favor of certain individuals. We can either go back to the 1900's or we can move forward and provide a meaningful life for all. Good luck with that.
@TheRationalBeing no, actually, i wasn't looking for that term, i was expressing myself quite clearly without your help. minimum wages cause inflation, which is one large reason, along with heavy regulation and over taxation, that jobs move overseas. government forces the hand of businesses trying to stay competitive and then have the audacity to demonize them for it. it's irrelevant anyway. the level of jobs moving over seas is inherently proportionate to the lowered cost of goods here, thus...
@TheRationalBeing creating a more-or-less zero sum game. as far as your argument concerning stress and anxiety, that has nothing to do with me. sure, i can sympathize with somebody stressing over money, but their misguided perception of needs is not my responsibility and thus requiring me to provide for them via taxation is morally corrupt. and if you think your utopian society of high taxes and big government will be free of political buyouts, you're dreaming. public labor unions are the...
@TheRationalBeing most powerful lobbying group in the nation, arguably. and on top of that, they're funded by public money, creating a massive conflict of interest. private and corporate lobbies use private money that is willfully given to them to exercise their first amendment rights. but that's evil in your eyes.
and to top it all off, i take offense to your use of the phrase "good luck with that." if you meant that, i couldn't possibly be more elated, but people who think like you refuse...
@nephihirt Two things that you mentioned. One, what others are going through has nothing to do with you. Nice sentiment, and very well statedd for someone who is only concerned with their own selfish interests. Two, Unions are paid through union dues, not taxpayer money. UNION MEMBERS! You are the same ole brainwashed moron that I have spoken with many times. You are the reason this country is going to shit. You call yourself a patriot, but you are nothing more than a selfish twit.
@TheRationalBeing "So you are one of those people that assume what others mean and twist it into something you are against."
those are your words, yet you automatically peg me as somebody who has no sympathy (even though i clearly said i sympathize) simply because i rightly acknowledge someone else's problems as their own and note the moral conundrum of forcing "charity" through taxation. i give plenty to charitable organizations that i feel are deserving of it and i do it of my own free will.
@nephihirt "So you are one of those people that assume what others mean and twist it into something you are against."
You have proven this statement to be correct by implying that I am against profit when what I stated was that GE made $14.2 bil in profits, took a $3.2 bill subsidy, AND PAID NO TAXES ON IT. Not paying taxes on 14.2 billion is my problem, not the profits.
This is a clear case of you twisting my words. Now that I dropped the bailout part, can you see it for what it is?
@TheRationalBeing did you just quote yourself? nice. your example is anecdotal. obviously i do not support zero taxation. liberals love to pick and choose examples when arguing principles. i say california taxes are too high, you're arguing about a singular federal issues and i'm not even going to address it.
@nephihirt Yep, I re-quoted what you had quoted me as saying so you can see where you twisted shit up. Even better, you choose to say I pick and choose examples, yet you will not say one thing about the problem that I mentioned in that post. There are many more where that one came from, but since it totally shits all over what you are trying to promote, you try and turn the table with a weak argument like, "singular federal issues". How typical.
@TheRationalBeing union salaries and dues are negotiated by the unions and politicians, not the union members or the tax payers and are removed from paychecks before the worker even sees it. straight from the government to the union, no union member even sees that money. and do you think they have a say as to how much, if any, they contribute? that's hardly of their own free will. if you don't see that as a conflict of interest, then you don't know what one is.
@nephihirt In relation to your speech about union salaries. NEGOTIATION is the main word in that sentence. Blame unions all you want for the fiscal crisis, the fact remains that this crisis never began because of unions, it began by unregulated corporations taking money from American investors and betting it on high risk ventures that were sure to fail. What we see now is the blame being assessed to the wrong people and Americans are eating it up. How is this right?
@TheRationalBeing@TheRationalBeing while i completely disagree that corporations are singularly to blame for the fiscal crisis, i wasn't arguing one way or the other on the subject. i didn't blame public sector unions for the fiscal crisis, i blamed the conflict of interest they create for a huge portion of the state's budget deficits.
one way or the other, the fiscal crisis happened, so now we don't have the money to spend. it's that simple.
@nephihirt Finally, you stated a point you were trying to make. I will agree with your statement on unions, but I don't believe it is as near a deficit problem as we have been lead to believe. Earlier you spoke of people having no say as far as union dues and tax payers paying the wages, but the same can easily be said for many private ventures that are afforded with public funding. Any business with government is a conflict of interest that the tax payers have little say, if any, about.
@nephihirt Oh, and for the record, and I'll say this nice and clear. GENERAL ELECTRIC PROFITED $14.2 BILLION in 2009. GE RECEIVED $3.2 BILLION IN TAX BENEFITS. GE TOOK TAX PAYER MONEY TO BAIL THEM OUT.
TAXES PAID BY GENERAL ELECTRIC FOR 2009 : NOT ONE FUCKING PENNY
You argue for this!! What a fucking joke. Either you are rich or you are extremely stupid.
I won't be moving because people like me are needed to keep patriots like you in their place. You are pathetic and sad.
@TheRationalBeing your argument begs the question that i support corporate bailouts, which i don't. they are yet another facet of big government refusing to let free market capitalism play out. allowing the bailouts to happen to justify higher corporate taxes as you imply is nonsensical, stupid, and an incredibly inefficient use of private and public funds.
profits are not illegal, nor should they be. you should try making one sometime, you might understand more.
@nephihirt If you are truly for free market capitalism, then I suggest, and I'm sure you would agree, that protectionist policies should be lifted in order for foreign companies to compete freely in the American market against American businesses. American companies complain about the corporate tax rate being higher than any country, yet they loophole their way through paying any taxes at all. If they don't like it, they can get out. Others will take their place.
@TheRationalBeing again, lets stay on topic. but yes, actually. i generally dislike protectionist policies. that has nothing to do with california's immediate economic issues. of course a corporation is going to want to pay less money, so does everyone else on the planet. what's your point?
@nephihirt My point is this. Corporate tax rates in foreign countries may be lower, but personal tax rates are much higher as a result. Take into account that many corporations are sending jobs overseas, this is increasing their profits, but the problem is with those who lost their jobs. Less tax money for infrastructure and a bigger dependency on government programs. Its a double whammy for the citizens. Profit for big business.
One of Cali's problems is Prop 13, and its a big one.
@nephihirt "but their misguided perception of needs is not my responsibility and thus requiring me to provide for them via taxation is morally corrupt."
That is some funny shit. You should take that on the road. Misguided to need heat in the winter? A car to get to work? Food for your family? Clothes? Shelter?
Seriously, you have got to get some of your own material because whoever shit it is that you are using is making you sound like a fucking retard. Good luck with that! LOL
@TheRationalBeing is your memory really that short? who said anything about paying the heating bills and food? we were talking about unnecessary luxury items like cable TV, cell phones, and yes, in many cases a car. if you can't afford your living situation it's rarely someone else's fault and more likely due to your own ineptitude when it comes to life choices and spending habits.
besides that, where are all the freezing, naked, starving people in this country? cue liberal anecdote.
@TheRationalBeing to let capitalism play out. nevermind that you have literally dozens of socialist leaning countries that would gladly take you in, you have to aim to bring down the most successful capitalist country in the world. move to europe, they'll love your mentality, at least until their financial system collapses and they start begging for aid from countries that work. that is assuming that there are any left after you're done with them. please, go away and solve everyone's problems
@TheRationalBeing and i did address the the issue of minimum wage earners living in "poverty" by implying that your definition of "poverty" is largely adjusted from what is actual poverty. if i wanted to define poverty as anything under $10 million/year, suddenly our whole country is impoverished. to people like you, it doesn't matter how well off people are if there are people who are better off (even if it's due to their own hard work). you'll never be happy until everyone is equally miserable
@nephihirt So you are one of those people that assume what others mean and twist it into something you are against. I never said total equality, but what I did insinuate is there are people living way beyond their means who have the ability to make decisions that affect everyone in society. If you don't understand how this works, I suggest you pick up a book. The terms you are looking for are absolute poverty, and relative poverty, which is what the US considers its people....
Arnold is a republican, but I blame the democratic idiots in the CA state assembly that are being lobbied by the Unions with their bribes, kickbacks, and extortions - holding the state hostage. And the reason why we elect them is because the Unions have politically sided with the Latino population and cater to illegals so they are always voted in office. These people do not pay taxes and put a burden on the state!
Sorry, I am Asian American. We comprise less than 5% of the overall population, but almost 100% of all science and engineering majors in UC schools. Asians pay billion of dollars in Tuition to UC schools and we pay billions more in taxes when we graduate and get high tech jobs. Hispanics are the largest ethic majority in CA jails and the most racists, uneducated, and welfare lazy people in the state. Thank you for making my point.
These California State workers and their Unions catering to Illegal Aliens from cops, teachers, social workers, nurses, jail guards, ...etc. the list goes on and on - have bankrupt this great state. These state workers and their Unions have taxed CA into a recession with the highest unemployment rate! The Unions catered to these Illegals, but they do not pay a dime in taxes! Illegals crowd our schools, flunk out, get pregnant, join gangs and end up in jail!
Now say something really stupid and predictable like "yes, the citizens of this country want all these kinds of things so it's their fault" or "what do these things have to do with California?" Well you'll just need to figure those things out for yourself their buddy, I can't teach you everything.
Also, I would like to know where I said it's ONLY the politicians fault??? It's also the people pulling their strings and stupid ignorant and bleeding-heart people like your self to blame.
No you idiot, the alternative is doing what's right, which means cutting all the wasteful spending on BS!
There's so much waste in this state it's beyond sickening!!! Illegal aliens alone cost this state 13 billion a year at least. The government has almost doubled in size in 10 years, and 10 years ago there was much waste.
You want to feed the beast, that's your problem, but don't speak for us - the intelligent people you fool! I got a better idea, why don't we feed you to the best!
LOL just how far below the retard scale are you??? With your DUMB ideology the American people are responsible for the long continuous war in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Patriot Act, unprotected boarders, the banker bailout bill, & many other things done in deceiving ways against the will of the majority of the people & it doesn't matter who you vote for when 99% of them are playing on the same team. By the way, please know what adult thinking is before sticking your foot in your mouth again moron!
Mr & Mrs Obama declared gross earnings of $2,656,902, most of which came from sales of Mr Obama's books. As well as the $855,323 they paid in federal taxes and $77,883 in state income taxes, the Obamas gave 6.5% of the income to charity. The largest donations were $25k each to the humanitarian organisation Care and the United Negro College Fund. The Obama's income is down from their 2007 tax return, where they declared $4.2m in gross earnings.
The problem with that is that many of the people that are doing time for drug possession are also doing time for violent crimes or other crimes and they certainly deserve what they get for that, most are not simply people in possession of pot and that's their only crime or else I'd be all for it.
This will be the only way to lower these pension payouts..
California pension funds close to bankruptcy 1/29/09
The two largest pension funds in California, the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) and the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS), have lost billions of dollars in value. Hundreds of thousands of retiring state employees and teachers now face the stark choice of accepting much reduced pension checks or working past their retirement age.
Right. Not only do they receive these massive pension and benefit packages, but their pensions are not dinged for working supplemental jobs after retirement! Everybody else in the private sector gets dinged if they earn over $1300/month if retired. People have got to realize that there is NO DIFFERENCE between Democrats and Republicans, Republicans are NOT conservative in modern America. They're just as big on taxes and spending as the "other" party.
Great points...until we the people /taxpayers get a handle on these MASSIVE pension payouts WE WILL NEVER FIX THE PROBLEMS IN CALIFORNIA. we are screwed the unions own us..
The Pension Restructuring Bond Act of 2004 authorizes the Committee to issue bonds to pay a portion of the State's pension costs in two fiscal years. This new Act also continuously appropriates money from the General Fund to pay principal and interest on any bond issued pursuant to its provisions.
It's not so much the Unions, but the employees of those Unions, who somehow believe there exist a bottomless pit of dollars from the private sector. Most profitable industries have left California for greener pastures. This lessens tax receipts dramatically. Government employees think of themselves as masters of the people, and deserve MORE than the private sector. They forget that they're pay, perks, benefits are derived from taxing the private sector! The Bond Act you mentioned is deadly.
i had to leave about 15 min. before this i wish i could have seen this but john and ken are 100% right. there was berly and media coverage and if this was a protest with 15,000 illigal immigrants the news and newspapers would be allll over this
Arnold is a HUGE lier and he and the rest of the democrats need to be OUT!
This is what happened back in 1978 when the Government became out of control. There are new breed of Guvment employee that thinks they deserve to make more than the slaves that pay the taxes. City Managers is the latest rip off getting 250k to 400 k for doing nothing but extorting fees and inventing new tways to take money from citizens.
The Calif Highway Patrol is the highest paid cops in the USA starting at 115k with a 90% retirement after 20 years with only a GED.
I assume you are replying to my comments about the pay of CHP officers.
Their own webpage sayes that a first year officers makes in excess of $87,228.64 and after 5 years
$109,147.08. I know some CHP Officers and have seen their contract . If you add the incentives all up plus the overtime they get for going to court they can easily make $115,000. to start not including the other benefits.
They used to have the pay scale online until people started complaining about the pay to elec reps
Yeah but not base pay. You do got to understand the difference. If a officer is hire with like 15 years under his belt, he'll not start at base pay. A rooky will not make no $115.K a year to start.
I understand completely because I used to be a cop and know exactly how the system works. What you refuse to look at to justify their being over paid is the incentives that add to the base pay and the virtually unlimited overtime,
You ought to see what a Sargeant makes at CHP you would think they all have MBA degrees for Christ sakes. And do not get me started on the 90% retirements.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
John and kent are the most stupid DJs I ever heard. They just like to lick ass. I just want to say to these two assholes "Thank YOU" For supporting Arnold. Thanks to them we elected Arnold. They used to interview him and kiss their ass. So tank you John and Kent for Arnold.
Just wanted to make a point that most of the people in the crowd were likely Republican voters..myself included. We are just tired of having these people lie pretending that they are against tax increases and then screw with the people once they get in office....RECALL THEM ALL!!!!
It will get passed because all the morons go and vote. Just look at how many idiots in CA voted for the globalist puppet Obama. In 6 weeks stock market has plunged 20%, he has spent more in 6 weeks that all 43 previous presidents combined.
Its funny that the Los Angels Times did not report on this protest the next day.

SO if we destroy all the social programs in this country, as the tea party wants, what do we do with all those who can't afford to live in the US?
What does it say about a country whose largest employer pays wages that don't even get their employees over the poverty line?
No one should ever wrok a 40 hour week to live in poverty. Good ole capitalism.

your first fact is irrelevant if the 153,000,000 are still better than they would be without capitalism, which they are. in regards to your second fact, i never said "all." with the exception of perhaps 24" rims, these are common items for minimum wage earners.
nephihirt 10 months ago
@nephihirt who live with less because of SOCIAL institutions that provide what they are lacking. You think that people in poverty here are doing better than others, but do you take into account the mental strain and anxiety someone in the US goes through because they MUST have the basic necessities to live provided either by services or by wages earned and services purchased. You may think those in poverty in the US are doing better, but whose standards are you basing this on?
TheRationalBeing 10 months ago
@nephihirt Now my first fact is irrelevant IF....well whose to say. Many of those people worked to make the 400 rich and now have lost jobs because the owners move jobs overseas. Do you believe American workers should be forced to compete with wages that are less than a $1 a day? The masses of the poor are growing daily in America, and this trend will continue. Greatest country in the world has over 50 million uninsured, another 50 mil underinsured, and 15 million living in consistent poverty
TheRationalBeing 10 months ago
@nephihirt All the while a small amount of people are buying politicians to make sure their needs are met and their profits can be maintained.
Whatever man. If you think that you and later on your children, are immune to living below your means, you will soon find out that the playing field has been tilted in favor of certain individuals. We can either go back to the 1900's or we can move forward and provide a meaningful life for all. Good luck with that.
TheRationalBeing 10 months ago

TheRationalBeing 10 months ago
@TheRationalBeing "So you are one of those people that assume what others mean and twist it into something you are against."
those are your words, yet you automatically peg me as somebody who has no sympathy (even though i clearly said i sympathize) simply because i rightly acknowledge someone else's problems as their own and note the moral conundrum of forcing "charity" through taxation. i give plenty to charitable organizations that i feel are deserving of it and i do it of my own free will.
nephihirt 10 months ago
@nephihirt "So you are one of those people that assume what others mean and twist it into something you are against."
You have proven this statement to be correct by implying that I am against profit when what I stated was that GE made $14.2 bil in profits, took a $3.2 bill subsidy, AND PAID NO TAXES ON IT. Not paying taxes on 14.2 billion is my problem, not the profits.
This is a clear case of you twisting my words. Now that I dropped the bailout part, can you see it for what it is?
TheRationalBeing 10 months ago
@TheRationalBeing did you just quote yourself? nice. your example is anecdotal. obviously i do not support zero taxation. liberals love to pick and choose examples when arguing principles. i say california taxes are too high, you're arguing about a singular federal issues and i'm not even going to address it.
nephihirt 10 months ago
@nephihirt Yep, I re-quoted what you had quoted me as saying so you can see where you twisted shit up. Even better, you choose to say I pick and choose examples, yet you will not say one thing about the problem that I mentioned in that post. There are many more where that one came from, but since it totally shits all over what you are trying to promote, you try and turn the table with a weak argument like, "singular federal issues". How typical.
TheRationalBeing 10 months ago
@TheRationalBeing union salaries and dues are negotiated by the unions and politicians, not the union members or the tax payers and are removed from paychecks before the worker even sees it. straight from the government to the union, no union member even sees that money. and do you think they have a say as to how much, if any, they contribute? that's hardly of their own free will. if you don't see that as a conflict of interest, then you don't know what one is.
nephihirt 10 months ago
@nephihirt In relation to your speech about union salaries. NEGOTIATION is the main word in that sentence. Blame unions all you want for the fiscal crisis, the fact remains that this crisis never began because of unions, it began by unregulated corporations taking money from American investors and betting it on high risk ventures that were sure to fail. What we see now is the blame being assessed to the wrong people and Americans are eating it up. How is this right?
TheRationalBeing 10 months ago
@TheRationalBeing @TheRationalBeing while i completely disagree that corporations are singularly to blame for the fiscal crisis, i wasn't arguing one way or the other on the subject. i didn't blame public sector unions for the fiscal crisis, i blamed the conflict of interest they create for a huge portion of the state's budget deficits.
one way or the other, the fiscal crisis happened, so now we don't have the money to spend. it's that simple.
nephihirt 10 months ago
@nephihirt Finally, you stated a point you were trying to make. I will agree with your statement on unions, but I don't believe it is as near a deficit problem as we have been lead to believe. Earlier you spoke of people having no say as far as union dues and tax payers paying the wages, but the same can easily be said for many private ventures that are afforded with public funding. Any business with government is a conflict of interest that the tax payers have little say, if any, about.
TheRationalBeing 10 months ago
TheRationalBeing 10 months ago
@TheRationalBeing your argument begs the question that i support corporate bailouts, which i don't. they are yet another facet of big government refusing to let free market capitalism play out. allowing the bailouts to happen to justify higher corporate taxes as you imply is nonsensical, stupid, and an incredibly inefficient use of private and public funds.
profits are not illegal, nor should they be. you should try making one sometime, you might understand more.
nephihirt 10 months ago
@nephihirt If you are truly for free market capitalism, then I suggest, and I'm sure you would agree, that protectionist policies should be lifted in order for foreign companies to compete freely in the American market against American businesses. American companies complain about the corporate tax rate being higher than any country, yet they loophole their way through paying any taxes at all. If they don't like it, they can get out. Others will take their place.
TheRationalBeing 10 months ago
@TheRationalBeing again, lets stay on topic. but yes, actually. i generally dislike protectionist policies. that has nothing to do with california's immediate economic issues. of course a corporation is going to want to pay less money, so does everyone else on the planet. what's your point?
i swear, you must have ADD or something.
nephihirt 10 months ago
@nephihirt My point is this. Corporate tax rates in foreign countries may be lower, but personal tax rates are much higher as a result. Take into account that many corporations are sending jobs overseas, this is increasing their profits, but the problem is with those who lost their jobs. Less tax money for infrastructure and a bigger dependency on government programs. Its a double whammy for the citizens. Profit for big business.
One of Cali's problems is Prop 13, and its a big one.
TheRationalBeing 10 months ago
@nephihirt "but their misguided perception of needs is not my responsibility and thus requiring me to provide for them via taxation is morally corrupt."
That is some funny shit. You should take that on the road. Misguided to need heat in the winter? A car to get to work? Food for your family? Clothes? Shelter?
Seriously, you have got to get some of your own material because whoever shit it is that you are using is making you sound like a fucking retard. Good luck with that! LOL
TheRationalBeing 10 months ago
@TheRationalBeing is your memory really that short? who said anything about paying the heating bills and food? we were talking about unnecessary luxury items like cable TV, cell phones, and yes, in many cases a car. if you can't afford your living situation it's rarely someone else's fault and more likely due to your own ineptitude when it comes to life choices and spending habits.
besides that, where are all the freezing, naked, starving people in this country? cue liberal anecdote.
nephihirt 10 months ago
@TheRationalBeing to let capitalism play out. nevermind that you have literally dozens of socialist leaning countries that would gladly take you in, you have to aim to bring down the most successful capitalist country in the world. move to europe, they'll love your mentality, at least until their financial system collapses and they start begging for aid from countries that work. that is assuming that there are any left after you're done with them. please, go away and solve everyone's problems
nephihirt 10 months ago
@TheRationalBeing and i did address the the issue of minimum wage earners living in "poverty" by implying that your definition of "poverty" is largely adjusted from what is actual poverty. if i wanted to define poverty as anything under $10 million/year, suddenly our whole country is impoverished. to people like you, it doesn't matter how well off people are if there are people who are better off (even if it's due to their own hard work). you'll never be happy until everyone is equally miserable
nephihirt 10 months ago

To more simply explain things to people whom aren't aware of Machiavelli an or sadly never read anything .
1. People in California have the right to vote/elect what ever politician they want or remove as they did with Gray Davis from office if they choose .
2. People are ignorant of reality & that's dangerous ! Most people can't tell you Barb Boxer ,Diane Fienstein are Calif. Senators
I hope you know Nancy Pelosi but doubt it is a represenative .
Hell some in Calif can't even find it on a map
MOONKNIGHT2007 2 years ago
Tyler13R & so many others like you need to do some critical thinking & obviously more time spent reading books .
Instead you & so many others will continue to resort to childish behavior.
Bottom line is the people of California brought this on themselves as Machiavelli wrote:"People get the government they deserve"
Read & learn :
1. Machiavelli The Prince
2.Nietzsche
3.America What went wrong by Bartlett & Steele
4. America the Broke by Gerald Swanson
5. The fall of the Roman Empire .
Okay
MOONKNIGHT2007 2 years ago
Now say something really stupid and predictable like "yes, the citizens of this country want all these kinds of things so it's their fault" or "what do these things have to do with California?" Well you'll just need to figure those things out for yourself their buddy, I can't teach you everything.
Also, I would like to know where I said it's ONLY the politicians fault??? It's also the people pulling their strings and stupid ignorant and bleeding-heart people like your self to blame.

There are no easy an answers to the fiscal crisis California is facing !
California is facing a financial apocalypse with the HUGE deficit it has .
That deficit MUST be eliminated & California returned to a solid fiscal standing & this may mean HUGE tax increases !
The alternative choice is ignore the fiscal crisis and watch California state declare bankruptcy .
1. BIg cuts in law enforcement
2. Huge cuts in education,schools
3. Dramatic cuts to elimination of unemployment & welfare
MOONKNIGHT2007 2 years ago
No you idiot, the alternative is doing what's right, which means cutting all the wasteful spending on BS!
There's so much waste in this state it's beyond sickening!!! Illegal aliens alone cost this state 13 billion a year at least. The government has almost doubled in size in 10 years, and 10 years ago there was much waste.
You want to feed the beast, that's your problem, but don't speak for us - the intelligent people you fool! I got a better idea, why don't we feed you to the best!
Tyler13R 2 years ago
LOL please do some ADULT thinj=king before making such childish comments okay .
Now then are politicians ONLY to blame for California's problems ?
NO Absolutely not ,as who voted these politicians into office & whom also approved incredibly wasteful measures .
Yes that's correct : the Calif public did .
Economics states "There is No free lunch" but the people of California demand everything NOW while not paying for it .(free lunch)
As long as the public continues to ignore reality = doom !
MOONKNIGHT2007 2 years ago
LOL just how far below the retard scale are you??? With your DUMB ideology the American people are responsible for the long continuous war in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Patriot Act, unprotected boarders, the banker bailout bill, & many other things done in deceiving ways against the will of the majority of the people & it doesn't matter who you vote for when 99% of them are playing on the same team.

Hundreds of thousands of retiring state employees and teachers now face the stark choice of accepting much reduced pension checks or working past their retirement age.

ask a retired cop or fireman how much their california pension is.. most of these guys are getting 100-200 k A YEAR plus benefits ..
no wonder we don't have any money
and need to raise taxes
aceyorba 2 years ago 3
They're just as big on taxes and spending as the "other" party.
joe80dman 2 years ago 3
Great points...until we the people /taxpayers get a handle on these MASSIVE pension payouts WE WILL NEVER FIX THE PROBLEMS IN CALIFORNIA. we are screwed the unions own us..
The Pension Restructuring Bond Act of 2004 authorizes the Committee to issue bonds to pay a portion of the State's pension costs in two fiscal years. This new Act also continuously appropriates money from the General Fund to pay principal and interest on any bond issued pursuant to its provisions.
aceyorba 2 years ago 3
It's not so much the Unions, but the employees of those Unions, who somehow believe there exist a bottomless pit of dollars from the private sector. Most profitable industries have left California for greener pastures. This lessens tax receipts dramatically. Government employees think of themselves as masters of the people, and deserve MORE than the private sector. They forget that they're pay, perks, benefits are derived from taxing the private sector! The Bond Act you mentioned is deadly.

ScottyDog2 2 years ago
Yeah but not base pay. You do got to understand the difference. If a officer is hire with like 15 years under his belt, he'll not start at base pay. A rooky will not make no $115.K a year to start.

I understand completely because I used to be a cop and know exactly how the system works. What you refuse to look at to justify their being over paid is the incentives that add to the base pay and the virtually unlimited overtime,
